    Merry Christmas! This is my first attempt at using iMovie and Garage Band. I recorded the audio using a synthesizer and my Dusty Strings D650 Hammered Dulcimer. I hope you enjoy! If you like my arrangement, be sure to visit my site and check out my CDs. Please look me up on FaceBook (Mark Alan Wade, Musician) and subscribe to my RUclips channel for more content.

    I keep coming back for another listen. Had to show my son, Micah, who plays the hammered dulcimer all too seldom. Hoping to inspire him.

    WOW! I'm totally inspired!! I googled Joy to the World Hammered Dulcimer and this came up. I was looking for some inspiration for myself in playing this tune that I have always loved. I have a lot of work to do!! Thanks.

    Beautiful! I love your style. I play the hammered dulcimer, but it's much simpler. You are such an inspiration.

    I have not even had lessons of any kind. Chris Foss is in process of making my 16/15 Phoebe from Songbird. As watched these free lessons from Mr. Dickinson, I became so mesmerized. You truly helped me to get started before I get my new Hammered Dulcimer. Thank you so very much for sharing your basic skills, so I myself and others may understand! Kathleen

    That was awesome. Impressive technique, of course, but a beautiful, not overly-sentimental, arrangement. I watched it over and over, and couldn't see how you bent the string at 2:08. Is that a cedar soundboard?

    • @markalanwade
      @markalanwade  5 лет назад

      VikingPadre Thanks! The soundboard is made out of mahogany. If you like the string bending trick, you should check out my grass roots CD. 😉

    Is a bass playing with him? Or is it the dampening that makes it sound like it?

      You can read in some of the other comments about the three layers of audio in this recording. I think what you’re hearing is the baseline I recorded. Thanks for listening!

    What woods were used in this model? As close to dulcimer heaven as I’ve heard.

      It's a Dusty Strings D650. Mahogany top and Maple bridges. I recently upgraded to a Master Works Dulciforte though. It sounds even better!
