I have been dreaming of you two back together for years. love when these guys get together
me too. this is one of my absolute favorite combinations of humans
Tell me more about these dreams? They sound sexual and hilarious.
Not to make it weird.
I will still go back and watch clips of Rory on the Pete Holmes show occasionally, so happy to see this in my feed!
*Rory is MY current favorite, too. He's got that rare & amazing ability to be both silly AND intellectual, sometimes even simultaneously. One of my ALL-TIME favorites!* 😊
Ok Dianne, whatever you say
@@idontwantahandlethough I'M CLAPPING FOR THE GUY ON TV, DIANNE
He is also one of the people that can get up and improv and riff, and just kill. He can turn on the funny like a switch.
Timestamp or it never happened
I just so happened to have started going down one of my semi-regular Pete Holmes RUclips rabbit holes which then turned into a Rory Scovel rabbit hole, and now here I am!
Saw Rory at the DC improv a few months ago. Absolutely MURDERED. My friend literally passed away from laughter. RIP DeMarcus ✊😤🪦
I still watch their talk show bits from the Pete Holmes show lol, they still got that ridiculous chemistry years later
Day moon 😂😭
Well, now I'm literally gonna have to go and watch that again.....for like the 10th time in as many years.
Their chemistry is just perfect....two of the most effortlessly funny smart likable people....just riffing.
Oh WOW these are two peas in a pod (on a pod) completely understanding each other to a point they go DEEP. Hell YES to all this 🙌💜
The riff about "ambulance" not needing to be backwards is such a good bit.
Nothing beats Rory as a guest!!!
If I had to pick my favorite guest of all time.....I think I would pick Rory. Maybe Reggie Watts....maybe Bo.
And I'm sure there's other great guests I'm just blanking on right now.
One of my favorite non-comedian guests recently was Brett Goldstein. One, because he and Pete just CLICKED...but also because of that incredible ghost story at the end. I don't think I've ever heard Pete so happy. He's been asking that question, "Have you seen a ghost?" for years...and _finally_ someone was like, "I think I did.." and then proceeds to tell a genuinely intense captivating story that the skeptic in me had real trouble making sense of.
OH! And Duncan Trussell.....though again, he's only been on like once, way back in the early days. But Pete used to go on Duncan's own podcast a LOT back in the day. In fact, that's how I discovered Pete to begin with. It's still trippy to listen to that episode where Duncan is telling a bemused and naive Pete about some guy called _Ram Das_ and "Blanket Man" lol. Knowing what Pete's spiritual path would end up being...it's hilarious to listen to Pete say to Duncan "his name's Ram Das? what is he, a wizard??"
OH....and Taylor Tomlinson! She's been on twice....and I adore those episodes.
Ok, I gotta stop, before I think of 10 more. I mean....this podcast has been going for over a decade. It's hard to remember all the best guests....
Nothing beats Rory as a guest!!!
The cool think about mixing Pete tangents and Rory tangents is that eventually they end up intersecting again and then you got yourselves a topic which is a tangent formed exclusively of other tangents, which I like to call a supertangent. Or perhaps a doubletangent.
Wish I saw more of Rory, his improve special was amazing!
I still watch the Rory's appearances on The Pete Holmes Show, Rory is the best
Rory's appearance on Conan with the guy playing piano in the background is one of the funniest acts I've ever seen. Became a fan immediately after that.
"ANSWER ME!!!"
I am fired up for the next season of Physical. If you haven’t seen it, do yourself a favor. It’s an excellent show and Rory is incredible in it.
Rory is my favorite comedian
I first saw Rory at a Benson movie interruption of Flashdance. Rory, Benson, the late great Ralphie May, and someone else I can't recall were making hilarious commentary during the movie at the Belcourt in Nashville. Been a major fan ever since.
Pete, your show in DC was the best stand up I’ve ever seen live, and I’ve seen a lot. Thank you and can’t wait to see you again, here or elsewhere!
I saw him in houston on that same tour and I was almost upset with pete for not giving us a lull in the show to collect ourselves. It was basically "too funny"
"Blood in the water" is now a phrase that makes me cackle laugh immediately. Thank you.
I love these two men so much. Please do a weekly podcast together. You two are my favorites!
Yes yes yes yes. You two play together so well. Thanks Pete! (and Joe)
That ambulance bit is basically ready to go
Man, this was a really fun conversation. So many laughs and dark humour was on point lol
My top two comedy specials, Faces & Sounds and Rory Tries Stand-up For The First Time. You are both amazing comics and people.
I wish that Pete and Rory could be my dads.
No words.
I ❤ these two
👏👏👏
I love seeing the birth of the gator/monkey bit from the new special lol
I love this so much. Just some of my favorite comedians just chatting on couch.
Stopping by the channel today to wish Pete a Happy Birthday! 🎂🎁
Y’all could definitely do a regular show! Great chemistry! I should know because i listen to Pete almost every day!!
I'd be so down for that.
At the same time....the guy who co-hosts the Pen Pals podcast with Rory....Daniel Van Kirk, matches and balances Rory's energy perfectly. If you like Rory....check out the one Pete did with DVK. I think you'll love it.
Rory explaining why he says "remember when those dogs ate that woman" makes me feel so seen. Saying it because it would get a laugh if there was an audience and even though there isnt then you become the audience for yourself and want to laugh at it. Perfect description.
Love you two together! So good
Every now and then I go to RUclips and rewatch the scene where you guys discuss the ‘Day Moon’ part.
Sooo hilarious 😂
Can't look at the moon during the daytime without thinking of these guys discussing the "Day Moon" bit.
I absolutely loved Babylon, don't care what anybody thinks! But come on Rory, how'd you think that was gonna go down!?!
I love you Rory!
my hands were sweaty too! didn't even realize until they mention it
Ive seen so many comics live and these two were my favorites so I love that they love eachother
I love you Pete!
I'm constantly penduluming ™ between loving the current riff you are on and being like, "BUT ANSWER THE QUESTION YOU WERE ABOUT TO ANSWER!"
Let the absurdity begin!
I really enjoy Rory's approach to stand-up, but I had no idea he painted. Did a quick search. Pretty cool stuff!
thats why we have those high speed chases. who wouldnt be freaked out when they were being approached by strobing lights and some strange text that reads "ECILOP"
Just in case you read these comments, I have free audio advice for you. You will improve the audio for the opening and commercials dramatically by doing two easy things. Move the mic 3 inches away from where it is (to avoid the proximity effect), and lower the volume of the music 6 decibels. You're welcome. I'll see myself out. :-D
favorite. hands down. favorite.
38:45 and so much more... I needed this. I needed all of this.
Always loved Pete and _just_ found this *tonight* !!
TL: DR; I recount a short story featuring the kid “Dean” and Pete (both as adults) visiting an imaginary saloon in a scene that is part 40’s film noir, part Westworld.
Dear Rory and Pete - For some reason, as I listened to your hilarious tale of Dean, a scene started to take shape in my mind. Anyway, I nearly puked from laughing at this podcast - especially the story regarding the “wise-beyond-his-years” philosopher, Dean. Being a lifelong weirdo myself, I “hallucinated” a scene just now featuring Dean and Pete. So, if you will indulge me, this is that story/scene. I hope you like it:
I could almost see Dean, looking 35, but still aging backwards. Cool and collected, dressed to the nines. Then I saw Pete, strolling alongside Dean, into a smoke-filled Casablanca-style watering hole. In the background you could hear a soft, lilting man playing a grizzled, alcoholic tune. (He's known as Piano Man, so don’t call him Sam, if you know what’s good fer you).
As Dean and Pete pour themselves into one of the bar stools riddled with splinters, Dean reaches into his pocket, pulling out a single Virginia Slims, no filter.
The barkeep lifts his eyebrow, both titillated and confused by his own scary emotions toward this mysterious man. He leans forward, lighting Dean’s cigarette like a woman who should know better.
Dean inhales deeply from his devil stick and slowly exhales into Pete’s face, like a boss. A large plume of smoke circles them both, nonchalantly.
Dean points to a sturdy woman, drinking alone in a dark corner.
“You see that?” Dean says. “That there is a real dame. But…” He smugly exhales another grey plume of smoke into Pete’s face. “She’s got blood in her waters.”
Pete and the bartender both nod at Dean’s uncanny wisdom with an almost primal understanding - the understanding a man only gains from years of life experience….that and a bi-weekly circle-jerk with the guys down at the lodge. The barman goes back to swabbing the countertop with his time-honored, road-tested smegma rag.
Overhearing their quip, the mystery woman, coincidently being a time-honored, road-tested smegma rag herself, swiftly approaches the men as if they were Nolan Ryan at the pitcher’s mound - with an evil look of anger in her eyes…and an imminent clothesline in her heart.
Pete and Dean turn in horror to see this crude damsel, a woman raised on danger and Domino’s pizza, stampeding toward them. Fearless and unhinged, she points at them with a furious fire blazing unencumbered in her drawers. (She happened to be wearing her “Fancy Drawers” that day. The ones she usually reserved for Sundays, family picnics and general mayhem. Or as she describes them, “what them panties I got that ain’t got no holes or too many stains n’ sh*t.”) Those drawers.
This was a ruckus indeed. Everyone in the tavern turns and stares, mouths agape, yet motionless and silent. You could hear nothing but an occasional heavy drop of urine or two hitting the floorboards.
“What you say’ ‘bout ME?!” she snarled clenching her fists, ready to fight as if she had just been told Popeye’s ran out of chicken.
The men gulped, saying nothing, afraid for their lives. Time seemed to stop altogether. Somewhere, off in the distance, a spider coughed.
But just as suddenly as the whirling dervish began, it crawled to a stop. The delicate princess finally lowered her gnarled, oily claw to her side, turning to leave. There was an audible, collective sigh of relief from the bar patrons.
Then suddenly, the woman’s neck whipped back around, whirring like a cyborg. She homed in on Pete, wincing at him like a badger passing a kidney stone. They stood face-to-face, chin hair to chin hair. He could feel her hot pastrami breath on him, but he would not move. Pete was frozen, afraid to breathe, afraid to blink. He wondered if he would ever see his family again. “This is it,” Pete whimpered to himself. He then squeezed his eyes shut, bracing for impact. His eyes watered up because he could still smell what her rock was cooking.
She scanned Dean up and down with hatred boiling in her ruddy, egg-shaped eyes. Then she looked over and glared at Pete’s chest, her lips moving as she tried to make sense of his Seussical t-shirt. Her face frowned and forehead gathered in true confusion.
Then, with no warning she grabbed Pete’s shoulders, pointed at his colorful t-shirt and screeched at him like a banshee from hell:
“What YOU know about green eggs and haaaaaaaaaaaam!?”
The End
My spidey senses tell me that you two smoked a little before filming! 😂 I was on same wave length watching! ♥️
I told Rory he was going to be a millionaire when I saw him like 10 years ago in Portland, OR. He is a genius of novel associations and being professionally silly. I have a MS of Accountancy and don't gamble. I perceive, and so should you.
wat
"Blood in the watah!" That broke me, water all over my monitor and keyboard.
Love that Rory had a Dylan Moran story. Two of my faves!
thank you!
Thank you!
🔥♥️🙏
This was awesome!
'Did acid rain ever take off?' 😂😂😂😂😂😂
LOVE this episode! There are good guests, great guests, and top-tier perfect guests...and Rory is definitely in that latter category. I've already listened to this episode twice since it came out. Just hope the 3rd time isn't like a DECADE later lol... Speaking of which...another top-tier guest who's long overdue for a second outing: Reggie Watts. I mean, his voice is in every single episode singing the theme song. Yet he was only on once....like ten years ago.
How do we start a petition to make that happen?? Reggie was set to retire from the Late Late Show...and now with the writer's strike, I'm sure he's got some free time!
Those 2 are probably my all time favorite guests....along with Val tbh. I like the WMIW episodes just as much and never miss one. Oh...and I think I'd put Bo in the top-tier too. His first appearance was pretty chill and an excellent conversation....and then each subsequent episode, Bo slowly but surely seemed to lose his patience with....humans, and was quite keen on talking about it. But I love his direct honesty...and how different he and Pete are, while still having plenty of overlap.
What a treat!
g'damn i enjoy these 2 fellas riffing together
Take a drink every time Rory just mindlessly says YEAH
He can’t get a word in
He can’t get a word in
The Ted Lasso review is 100% accurate
Rory is the best. He’s a crowd controller and a great joke writer
Yay Asteroid City commercial!!!
Rory reminded me of why I quit watching Ozark...I was like, damn this show is so good but it was just an hour of anxiety added to my life.
"Someone Needs To Die." should be the name of Rory Scovel's next special...
Pete Holmes and Rory Scovel makes "You made it wierd" a perfect name!
Where did you get that giant couch!? I want one.
Heyyyy... thats not the daughter from Gilmore Girls!
i still think about Pete asking Rory about his favourite movie from the first pod. "CAUSE IT'S IN THE PAST, CAUSE IT'S IN THE PAST"
I could watch these 2 in a buddy cop movie
These 2 together are the epitome of sillyness
Rory can never NOT make me laugh!
1:07:21 Paused at this timestamp, I got a little confused by what I was seeing. I think I figured it out, though... These are just what happens to Dad's pants. Does that look like pen scribbles, maybe some marker and fingernail polish? It looks kind of rad, honestly, but I couldn't tell what I was seeing once I noticed it.
He paints a lot now so it’s mostly likely painter pants
Imagine these two on a 2012 episode of the Todd Glass Show
Hey Pete. My step dad worked on beastmaster and phantasm as an actor. Ama
I used to call TBS "The Beastmaster Station", and yeah those cloaked guys terrified me.
Bring Kumail back for a video episode
blood in the wadda
I want to call in to tell Pete to tell Rory his compliment
He did it very quickly at 9:51
"You could read or take a bath with your pants on" 😂😂😂
'Dress for the job you want'
❤
"what is it?"
It's about 5 dollars a bottle
Bummed how much Holmes talks over him
TMBG!!!
Rory and Bert Kreischer have the same laugh.
Cory Scaven 😆
I do not care if Rory was intentionally saying "yeah" dozens of times or not. It was hilarious regardless.
Can’t get a word in
1:06:00 no need to call out Marc Maron like this
Let's get Patrick Walsh back on!
Great podcast. Pete should do one where he lets his guests talk!
Haha this is so mean but funny
i mean it is his podcast 😂
@@poindextertunes yeah good thing I'm a fan of Pete
Diane? DIANE!!!!!????
The mcgriddle is a deal breaker or
GET OUTTA HERE MOON
I made a song with a sample of one of Rory's jokes in it.
ruclips.net/video/ip6uwImWc0c/видео.html
He's inspiring, to me. I enjoy his fearlessness even if I'm not onboard with the joke. Usually, it's both though! Nice interview.
Great guest! I could do without the 50,000 Will Trent ads.
Huby!
Dress for the job you want.
Be Dean.
If only Mr Know-it-all Pete Holmes would talk half as much, he might then be tolerable, and give his guests a chance to shine. God he's annoying.
this dude was badman?
Sex workers should be shamed. What they do is disgusting. We all know it. Just like we know taboo when we feel it.
