I'm sure somebody will be along with the full history, but in a nutshell Miku (rhythm guitar and vocals) was a maid cafe worker who liked rock, who thought it would be interesting to have a band who looked like maid cafe maids, but played hard rock - creating what she calls "the gap" between what you expect and the reality of how they sound. In their early days their outfits were all very similar, but they've become personalised over time. As for hardest songs, probably Moratorium, Puzzle, and Clang. They aren't a metal band, so you won't get an extreme metal sound from them. What you will get is a distinctive fullness to their sound, that's kind of the Band-Maid trademark.

How the hell you can react when you make more noise than the video you're supposed to be reacting to? I get it that the reaction is supposed to be the focus here but you guys miss half the shit you should be reacting TO.

I wouldn't say they get heavy but they do go full on hard rock. Check them out live. They kick ass. They will make you feel inadequate as musicians.

Band Maid is at such a high level of compositional ability (thanks to Kanami to exist ..) If we say that they resemble or contribute to the generic J-rock it almost feels like an offense ... they belong only to themselves. a separate class.

If you haven't done so already, you definitely need to check out more jrock. In general there is just a lot of rock influence in Japanese music. Gackt and Mucc are two bands I definitely recommend, also LiSA and ONE OK ROCK.

As a lot of people have said. To get a feel for this band and their talent and their true sound you have to watch their live performances. I actually prefer their live performances to their studio versions in most cases. As for the anime thing, I feeel their music is some way off of most anime tracks (at least that I'm familiar with), especially live. Have a fun ride listening to their stuff because you guys are in for a treat ;)

  • @YaruSasaki
    @YaruSasaki 5 лет назад +6

Wow i just realised throughout the video that you guys actually have never checked out Band Maid. Considering your thirst for harder songs and shreds you should definitely check out these MVs:
    - the non-fiction days
    - DICE
    - YOLO
    - Don’t you tell ME
My fav song (Puzzle) doesn’t come with a MV.
But also given the fact that this is your first time listening to Band Maid, I should probably also recommend you
    - DOLL$BOXX with „Take My Chance“ or „Monopoly“
    - PassCode with „MISS UNLIMITED“, „Taking you out“, „Tonight“ or „bite the bullet“ :D
    - also I guess you should know about LADYBABY already since „Nippon Manju“ went kinda viral too, nevertheless since they‘re 4 girls they don’t sound too shabby either, check out „bite me“ or „Riot Anthem“ if you haven‘t already ✌️

They actually did an ANIME song, 'Glory'. But you should have done the LIVE version. You need to do 'Play!' LIVE, 'Don't You Tell Me' LIVE and 'Take Me Higher' LIVE, as well as 'Puzzle' LIVE, 'Moratorium' LIVE and their instrumental 'On Set'. If you're going to do Music Videos try 'Thrill'. Or check out their April Fools persona BAND-MAIKO.

There is a wonderful selection of J-Rock, J-Metal, and J-Punk, and many all-female bands. Power metal: Lovebites "Shadowmaker" ruclips.net/video/k3wyUbfl6TY/видео.html Insane punk Otoboke Beaver "Don't Light My Fire" ruclips.net/video/fkWfFXnLpYg/видео.html Rock: Scandal "Masterpiece" ruclips.net/video/fkWfFXnLpYg/видео.html Then there is whole Alternative Idol scene where an idol style group performs some really hard music. Check out: Broken by the Scream "Sayonara Birthday" ruclips.net/video/Q8qOH-f6doM/видео.html
And you should re-visit Babymetal. The latest stuff is amazing. And the usual warning, watch out for copyright strikes. The Japanese music companies are nuts.

They do pop-punk, heavy rock, prog-rock, blues-jazz fusion rock, rock-metal and instrumental etc, etc... you could react to their slipknot cover, too if you haven't checked it out yet. And next time... stay focused while you react, you'll end up missing the cool parts.

Band-Maid definitely has a big war chest to choose from. Unleash is their latest single which seems more metal fusion to me but is a great track as well.
Dice you getting into more heavy territory here. Along with Black Hole, Chemical Reaction & Rinne. BandMaid hasn't been around as long as let's Babymetal.
Which BTW not surprisingly both groups are friends. However I hope for similer sucess as this group deserves it here. I also recommend checking out Blackcult Hagene as well!! :b

For a harder sound, try "Play live". It's one of my favorites. ruclips.net/video/YeiIju_t1D8/видео.html. As for how they got started and came up with the maid idea, Miku Kobato the rhythm guitar player/singer was a maid at a maid cafe in Japan and she was also a singer/guitar player. She really enjoyed both, so she thought it would be fun to do something that combined both. She started calling musician friends and Band-Maid was born. Hope you enjoy Play live.
