For those of you concerned about spoilers, please don't worry we have finished filming all of the Harry Potter films. This video required minimal editing and I didn't have anything else ready so I decided to post it as a fun early bonus, but I of course would never compromise our reaction to a series/ movie franchise by watching a parody version first. Thanks!

Actually I believe it is the Draco and the Snape actors that got married. I watched Tessa for years on youtube and saw a few things by Joe off and on as well.
@@afry6400 ?? Draco is played by Lauren Lopez and Ron is played by Joey Richter. Lauren and Joey are married, they posted wedding pictures. Not sure where Snape comes into the equation.
Witnessing people unaware of "Dramione" makes me feel like I've stepped into an alternate universe! Also, I love Starkid so much! I'm so happy people are still discovering them!
If you are interested in continuing the Starkid musicals here is a list of all major works from then in release order (please copy the list and notify me when read, since YT likes to make this post disappear and I don't want to repost if you already have seen it: 1. A Very Potter Musical - Harry Potter Parody Part 1 2. Me And My Dick - More "adult" play which includes very sexual themes, only watch if you are ok talking about this topic, but then it is a lot of fun. 3. A Very Potter Sequel - Harry Potter Parody Part 2 4. Starship - First time with mic, one of my favorites, would recommend to only watch once you know the core actors of starkid and can recognize them. Plays on an alien planet, don't want to spoil anything more. 5. Holy Musical B@tman! - Batman parody, first appearance of Jeff Blim (as the villain) who becomes a very famous and importent member of the crew. 6. A Very Potter Senior Year - Harry Potter Parody Part 3, was created in a very short time, due to time constraints Darren Chriss (Harry Potter) had only 2 Days to prepare, therefore almost all cast members are having their scripts on hand. Also has a very special guest star which I will not reveal (and hope nobody else does it). Also unfortunately Bonnie Grueson did not manage to take the role of Hermione Granger again and is recasted by Meredith Stepien. 7. Twisted (The Untold Story Of A Royal Vizier) - Aladdin Parody, highly recommend watching Aladdin (Disney 1992) a short time before watching Twisted, also knowledge of other Disney Animated Movies and the history of the Disney & Pixars collaboration is helpful but not required. 8.1 ANI (A Parody) - Star Wars Parody, the band sings the songs so that the actors can dance with the songs. I would recommend knowing Star Wars Episode 1-6. Star Wars knowledge beyond that (about the various books and comics) will help in understanding many of the jokes, but are not necessary. Was performed every other day instead of The Trail To Oregon! 8.2 The Trail To Oregon! - Parody of the video game The Oregon Trail (1985), one of my favorites. You do not need to know the game but some knowledge about it improves it. Was performed every other day instead of ANI. 9. Firebringer - Story is placed in the Stone Age, the cast is almost entirely female (with the first female main protagonist of Starkid) which gives it a fresh spin. 10. The Guy Who Didn't Like Musicals - Part 1 of the Hatchetfield Series, my absolute favorite, is Starkids first try on the Horror genre and started a new series which is as today still not completed 11. Black Friday - Part 2 of the Hatchetfield Series, please see The Guy Who Didn't Like Musicals before this. 12. Nerdy Prudes Must Die - Part 3 of the Hatchetfield Series, please see The Guy Who Didn't Like Musicals and Black Friday (and if possible Nightmare Time 1 & 2 (see below)) before this. 13. Cinderella’s Castle - Next Musical, not yet released Also worthwhile mentioning: Spies are Forever - Made by some of Starkids crewmembers (including Joey Richter (Ron) and Brian Rosenthal (Quirrel)) forming the Tin Can Bros and additionally starring Lauren Lopez (Draco) and Joseph Walker (Voldemort) is a great story set in the Spy Genre with amazing set quality and entertainment that is on the same level as the best Starkid shows Nightmare Time - Multiple short stories set in the Hatchettfield Series, read by multiple members of starkid and live music Nightmare Time 2 - Season two of Nightmare Time VHS Christmas Carol - Short Musical about the Christmas Carol
don't forget about the short film 'Working Boys' ( only watch after seeing AT LEAST the Hatchetfield trilogy ), also that a fact about the Nightmare Time seasons 1 & 2 were filmed during quarantine/lockdown, so its all over video call/discord- but the stories still come across well and you still get immersed.
This is an excellent list! Hope he sees it :D it may be worth mentioning that the nightmare times were performed on webcams because it came out during covid. But despite this, the stories, actors and humor are still great! My fav. Plays in order are: 1. Nerdy Prudes Must Die 2. The Guy Who Didn't Like Musicals 3. Twisted 4. The Trail To Oregon 5. Black Friday 6. Holy Musical Batman The others I don't really rewatch 😅
This is an excellent list!! Just one thing though, in a very Potter senior year the entire cast had only 2 days to prepare, Darren Criss only had 2 hours lol the reason the entire cast had their scripts is because it was meant to be a stage reading, not a full out musical. The Langs only decided to add costumes and turn it into something more during those 2 half days of rehearsal they got previous to the panel and Darren was only made aware of this when he got to the convention about 2 hours before the panel begun!
There's also The Solve-It Squad from Tin Can Bros (Joey Richter, Lauren Lopez, Brian Rosenthal I think for definite and then I'm not sure if the other 2 cast members have appeared in starkid shows or not&I don't remember their names off the top of my head), it's a play not a musical and it's a scooby doo parody (where they're jaded adults and Brian plays every character except the main four)
1:54:13 so what happened with that weird cut is that the scene was over and as a joke, they decided to make it seem like draco is such an insignificant person in the world of the musical that he wasn't able to do a villain song. Which is why the scene change music played over the opening of the "song" draco was singing. Fun fact about that scene, the "you have to be my slave for a whole day" bit was improvised that performance and those were the actors' genuine reactions to thay being thrown in, which makes all the following discussion better lol
Ive seen a lot of people talking about how Darren made it big on screen here in the comments (Darren is the guy playing Harry). Just wanted to point out how the woman playing bellatrix, Britney Coleman, made it kinda big on Broadway. She was recently Barbara in the beetlejuice tour and is currently playing Bobby in the company tour. She is awesome.
the looks on people's faces when they realise what's happening in that scene with Voldy and Bellatrix always bring me so muuch joy :D. Hope you guys check out more Starkid shows, this group is really one of a kind!
My favorite is the face after any name drop. There’s so much context behind each character that people usually have a very cheerful or very worried reaction. Sometimes both.
"Does J K Rowling approve of this?" Well, considering Team Starkid released a song about their Harry Potter musicals called "We Don't Want to be Sued", after they recieved some legal push back from WB and/or Rowling, I'm gonna guess the answer is no.
considering JK's views on other things, I don't think the cast much cares anymore either XD. This is about the only HP content I'll still engage with tbh, because it's not at all connected to her and the people involved are genuine people
I really need more people reacting to the Hatchetfield series too 🧡the Potter musicals will always bring me such nostalgic joy and I'll always miss Darren with Starkid, but the original shows are just genuinely SUCH incredible quality all around!
I am so thrilled you’re watching this, Starkid has made many incredible musicals this one being one of my favourites, especially as a Harry Potter fan. The second one, ‘A Very Potter Sequel’ is the best Harry Potter one they did in my opinion and I hope you enjoy this enough to end up reacting to that one too 💜
QUESTION: Do y'all know what you are doing by reacting to a Starkid show?! We aren't ''the Starcult'' for nothing. 😂😉 just kidding, we're a nice fandom, but you'll probably get tons of requests for more Starkid now. LMAO.
@@rlvids9889 I believe it’s “_Church_ of the Starry Children”, after all it’s not a cult, it’s just a fun new religion that some eldritch horrors from another dimension started
at this time they were mfa theater students in Ann Arbor. This wasn't even an assignment, they just whipped this up for themselves. It's honestly a stroke of luck they recorded it at all. I think they only performed it twice. some of the laughs and jokes are probably very specific to their own friend group, e.g. the laughs that occur when dumbledore enters are probably cuz everyone just knows the guy (and also the audience is probably a little drunk.) One of the writer/directors was a known fan of High School Musical, so queue the zefron poster. Harry is less Harry and more a caricature of Darren Criss himself. The song Ginny sings to the guitar is actually a recycled song from another show they wrote, which the audience would've recognized and is likely why they laugh. Plus some of the jokes are more specific to fannon at this time, like the joke that draco is secretly in doth-protest-too-much love with hermione. Or Dumbledore's homosexually-motivated blind faith in Snape, bc jkr had officially revealed Dumbledore was gay only the year before. loved this reaction! so hoping you do the next two HP musicals!
I heard Starkid and I came running!!! You gotta watch their other musicals after you're done with Potter stuff, they're all comedy gold! Fun fact, the actor who plays Ron and the actress who plays Draco recently got married, so Granger Danger hits a lot differently now lol. The ultimate comedic power couple ❤
@@afry6400 Lauren Lopez plays Draco, and is now married to Joey Richter, who plays Ron. Tessa Netting is not in this show, and that's who you're thinking of as being married to Joe Moses, who plays Snape.
They started off doing these shows while in or just shortly after leaving University... I think they originally posted this on youtube because they wanted a way to have a record of the show for the cast and their families and maybe they decided burning DVDs was too difficult or something lol... Then it gained a fair amount of popularity... Which lead to more shows ^_^;; The quality gets a fair bit better over time... They have better recordings, better and more consistent costumes, lighting, makeup and so on... Still relatively small scale most of the time, but you know? I think their writing is mostly better too... Maybe the music too, although it feels weird to say that when some of this early stuff are potentially still among my favourites... Even if you don't react to them, I hope you watch more... Although I'd love reactions too lol. It was cool watching the other guys on the old channel watching them too.
So happy you reacted to this show and I hope you'll watch the other two Potter related musicals, and maybe other original musicals they made. So, you guys need to know a little bit of history about them: this show is from 2009 and the whole group was to about to graduate from Uni (Michigan University) and actually wanted to share what they did FOR FUN with each other. They didn't expect the whole frenzy over the show and their group. They have a huge fanbase now who follow them (me included). Today, 15 years later, some of them are reknown actors like Darren Criss (who plays Harry) who was cast in the show GLEE, or in American Crime Story, or even the bass player at the back, Carlos Valdes, who played Cisco Ramon in the TV show "Flash". Fun Fact: the guy who plays Ron Weasley (Joey Richter) and the girl who plays Draco (Lauren Lopez) got married very recently. They are all still friends and have shows regularly together. Team Starkid has made 15 musicals since then and some of the original cast are still working on these shows.
What a treat!!! I was not expecting to see this, but I'm excited!! You should definitely watch the following two in the Potter universe. The final one is basically a live stage reading with some costumes/props, but the story and songs ARE SO GOOD. I bawl my eyes out every time. As for favorite of all Starkid shows... Twisted is mine. Again...just so many tears. They really know how to tell a story that will both make you laugh and just absolutely sob. And the songs are always absolute bangers.
Starkid is such a good production studio and you shoukd definitely check out the rest of their musicals Fun fact: This came out before the Half Blood Prince Film (but after all the books). Most of the dialogue, a specific example is almost the entire end fight, is verbatim from them.
Ohh you guys are in for a treat! I hope you watch AVPS and some of their other works. The quality of the sound and filming improves vastly. Fun fact, the actor for Draco and Ron are married now. Makes "Granger Danger" much more fun
Oh my god Nick, this made me so happy, please watch more Starkid stuff! :) Their Hatchetfield series is amazing, "The Guy Who Didn't Like Musicals" being my personal favorite.
Someone already pointed out that a lot of the jokes are inside jokes with the friend group or other pop culture references. Also, the last few movies hadn’t come out yet so all the parts based on the last two books are entirely from the books and not influenced by the movies which I think is really cool
YES! I am here for this! I came here to this channel because of your Buffy reactions and now you're doing Team Starkid?? even if you only watch their Harry Potter trilogy, that'll be awesome! but definitely, even if its in your own time, go down the Starkid rabbit hole. there are SO many great musicals they've made and they usually keep a lot of the same core actors/actors returning for certain projects- you'll get to have fave cast members as you venture along. plus, their budget gets better and better, which means mics for the actors and better sets and camera work. definitely give Team Starkid a chance after the HP trilogy! you wont regret it!
Definitely continue with the potter shows and with Starkid as a whole they are all so brilliant. The production quality does improve but these early shows still have some great charm to them. Fun fact Draco's actress and Ron's actor are married now making Granger Danger even better in my opinion. Can't wait for u guys to dive into the Starkid cannon.
I definitely recommend watching AVPS and then moving on to some of their other stuff. My recs are Holy Musical B@man, Firebringer, The Trail to Oregon, Twisted (in any order really), and then the Hatchetfield musicals (starting with The Guy Who Didn't Like Musicals, then Black Friday, then Nightmare Time 1 and 2, and then Nerdy Prudes Must Die).
Someone new discovers Starkid, I believe we're all required to comment by law. You have 14 more musicals to go! Their musicals aren't snobby Broadway style, but more made for everybody to enjoy.
I'm so exited that you are reacting to AVPM and I hope you will watch some of their other shows. One of my favorite of theirs is Holy Musical B@man which is a Batman/DC parody
Are you open to watching more musicals? Starkid parodies are great, but their original musicals are *cheff kiss*. Some people have suggested the Hatchetfield Trilogy (The Guy Who Didn't Like Musicals, Black Friday and Nerdy Prudes Must Die), I highly recommended to. They are "horror", but mainly comedy (and great songs). For me, the strongest point of that trilogy is the hability of the team to balance really sad/emotional moments with the comedy of all it. Absolutely brilliant.
I don't know... Some parts definitely are better, but I'm not sure it's consistently as good as this one... Some parts are a bit too long and I don't know... Still lots of great laughs and songs though.
“So we kissed… and I thought we’d be together, but we aren’t” Voldy’s monologue to Harry before killing him is straight ripped from Ozai. Don’t remember what the third is
Can you put a spoiler warning and name them? Watched this musical numerous times and Avatar I think I went through the full show twice, but at vastly different points in my life and I definitely never notice any references and would love to know. 😅✌️
What a surprise omg!! This is so nostalgic! I haven’t watched yet so idk if you recognized him, but Harry is played by Darren Criss, who went on to star on Broadway, and the show Glee (honestly my dream show to see you react to, but it’s pretty long and maybe niche for the channel lol). AVPM Harry is such a good parody of book Harry especially. StarKid has SO many great musicals! I recommend The Guy Who Didn’t Like Musicals to everyone. And if you like that one, they have 2 more horror-adjacent musicals, as well as some awesome parodies of classic stories. You’ll see some familiar faces from AVPM who are still with the company. And of course there’s A Very Potter Sequel. All free on RUclips :)
Starkid is awesome! Please check out the rest of the Starkid Potter musicals. I also recommend The Guy Who Didn't Like Musicals, it might be my favorite Starkid show.
I beg of you to watch Starkid's newer musical called "Nerdy Prudes Must Die" it's like a paranormal teenage thriller/comedy musical and it's absolutely amazing. I will never hesitate to recommend that, so so good!
It's totally awesome that you decided to watch this, so THANK YOU!! I hope you'll check out the other 2 in this series: A Very Potter Sequel and A Very Potter Senior Year!! They're amazing and chaotic, as all things should be😂 And if you'd like to see more from them, I'd go for Holy Musical B@man next!
OH MY GOD, YES!!! Though I seriously hope y’all finished the Harry Potter movies first, because SPOILERS! Anyway…. Team Starkid started as a bunch of friends at the University of Michigan in 2008, and have grown into a fully fledged production company. I am a professional musical theater actress, and Starkid shows are some of my favorites ever to have existed. I love them more than most Broadway shows, tbh. Please continue on the Starkid journey, you will not be disappointed!!! ❤️
I'm pretty sure they've watched all the movies. DH P1 is already on Patreon but beyond that, they actually started watching them late last year and uploaded the first one on Patreon, but had issues with copyright on YT.
Based on certain reactions they had here, I think they had seen the rest of the movies first... Though I'm not 100% sure... I suspect this potentially came to youtube first at least partly because they didn't need to edit it for copyright reasons, so it's easier... I don't know if Starkid claim revenue on it or not, because assumedly they aren't allowed to make money from it... Although I'm not sure... But typically it at least isn't likely to be blocked or hit with a strike... Relatively safe and easy content, whether you get money from it or not.
that was wonderful, def one of the best musical parodies starkid team has ever created! the next one is incredible as well, though a bit heavier on the books, but hopefully you'll check it out. great reaction from you guys!
This is a great reaction! I hope you guys continue with Starkid, they're hilarious. I know you guys probably have already gotten many of these requests but I'd like to recommend The Guy Who Didn't Like Musicals, Twisted, and/or The Trail to Oregon! Though honestly all of their musicals are great. Also some fun facts! The actor that plays Ron would eat during rehearsals so it turned into the joke that Ron was always eating on stage. The Starkid team had a budget of $100 to make the musical and I believe it's said that most of that money went into buying the giant Hershey bar that Ron eats!
Thanks for a fun time with this reaction! I would absolutely love to see more Starkid videos from you! My top recommendations would be the Hatchetfeild trilogy, Trail to Oregon, Twisted, Firebringer, VHS Christmas Carol for the holidays... honestly whichever one you want to do I will definitely watch :)
Yesssss! Please go down the starkid rabbit hole 😍 or if you don't wanna do all of them, the very potter trilogy and hachetfield trilogy are amazing, and I recommend them! Edit: autocorrections were not correct
1:54:13 if you're still wondering, that was intentional: Draco thinking he finally got his moment to shine- but gets immediately shut down and they move on to the next part😂 Also, the part with the handshake/unbreakable vow when Draco says: 'and you have to be my slave for a whole day' was improvised, so the shock on Voldemort's face was real😂
Okay, I haven't even started watching this but omg! I am so excited. I hope that you continue to watch more Starkid for sure! They're so funny and talented!
I always enjoy watching people seeing a starkid show for the first time! they have come a long way since this musical when it comes to video and audio quality, you should definetely keep watching! Awesome video!
I hoped you would react to this! I hope you'll also watch A Very Potter Sequel and A Very Potter Senior Year. My name and pic come from the second one, it's my favorite. If you like them I suggest you keep going with Team Starkid, they're totally awesome!
Lolol wow this is a trip to see you guys react to. I am old enough to have been an adult in Harry Potter fandom when the last 2 books came out, so I have all this context from the time with some of the jokes. Draco/Hermione was a really popular ship in fanfic back when (haven’t been in HP fandom for many years so I don’t know how things have changed).
Starkid musicals are great, i’ve been forcing my siblings to watch their productions since 2013. I managed to get one of my brothers hooked onto the Hatchetfield series through Nerdy Prudes Must Die
OMG yes, I hope you watched these after the last films. There are also two others after this one. Fun fact: Ron Weasley and Draco Malfoy here got married.
I'm pretty sure they've watched all the movies. DH P1 is already on Patreon but beyond that, they actually started watching them late last year and uploaded the first one on Patreon, but had issues with copyright on YT.
This is such a nice surprise! Takes me back to your brother and cousin reacting to this on their channel 😉 Btw, your song in the beginning is awesome but that reminds me of the iconic "Harry Potter in 99 seconds" video: Original - ruclips.net/video/y57sYHIDP_Y/видео.htmlsi=GWj6Ei5_fTEn1Ny5 With lyrics - ruclips.net/video/N9U_jFImWds/видео.htmlsi=vcfstIEIuHg24hm6 With video - ruclips.net/video/iu3IuyE0vLc/видео.htmlsi=zBL4cuEI1HOrIEKh Lego Stop Motion - ruclips.net/video/1ECJINd9MHw/видео.htmlsi=EGuWSjYYcmu3thCE This is produced by StarKid Productions (also known as Team StarKid), an American musical theatre company founded in 2009 at the University of Michigan by Darren Criss (Harry), Brian Holden, Matt Lang and Nick Lang. Since the success of AVPM, the group has produced 13 stage musicals, including two sequels to this - A Very Potter Sequel and A Very Potter Senior Year (the last one even had Evanna Lynch reprise her role as Luna Lovegood). Music and lyrics are by Darren Criss and A. J. Holmes (piano player). The idea for the musical came from the founders of Team Starkid when reading the Goblet of Fire and wondering what would've happened if Draco had fallen in love with Hermione at the Yule Ball, which led to the concept of the song "Granger Danger". In spite of there being a group of HP fans that ship "Dramonie", as they are called, and loads of fanfics written about them (even before this came out), J.K. Rowling has said there were never any intentions or hints of Draco having any sort of romantic/sexual feelings for Hermione. As for Bellatrix and Voldemort, there have always been speculations that Bella was in love with Voldy (probably not reciprocated because Voldy was incapable of love) but never actually mentioned in the books or films - That is, until Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, which so far is only out as a book and a stage production and takes place following the "19 years later" part in Deathly Hallows. There, it is revealed they actually had an illegitimate daughter called Delphini, after a one-night fling, who was born shortly before they died at the battle of Hogwarts. The show is a combination of the 1st, 4th, 6th and 7th books but obviously with a lot of differences and twists. It was originally called Harry Potter: The Musical and was performed at the University of Michigan on April 9th-11th 2009. Soon after, they posted the entire musical on RUclips. Following potential legal action from Warner Brothers, the show was taken down and edited to make it less inappropriate for the younger audiences, but was posted again, slightly edited and the name was changed due to copyright. Due to the nature of the musical, Team Starkid is allowed to host the musical on their channel and owns the rights to the songs and script, but as they do not own the rights to HP characters they cannot make money off of the production, nor can they give the rights for the show to any other production company. Fun facts: Both Darren Criss (Harry) and A.J. Holmes (co-composer/piano player) would later go on to star in leading roles on Broadway - Darren Criss as J. Pierrepont Finch in How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying (funnily enough, he actually replaced Daniel Radcliffe) and the titular character in Hedwig and the Angry Inch, and A.J. Holmes as Elder Cunningham in The Book of Mormon. Darren Criss is also famous for his role as Blaine Anderson on Glee and for his role as serial killer Andrew Cunanan in The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story, the latter in which he won a Golden Globe and an Emmy. He's also a singer/songwriter and has released a few albums. Joey Richter and Lauren Lopez, who play Ron and Draco respectively, are married in real life. Joey Richter was cast as Ron almost immediately after finding a tacky red wig in a thrift store and trying it on for fun. The original stage production began with Bonnie Wright (Ginny in the films) narrating a prologue where the audience sees Voldemort murdering Harry's parents. The scene where Draco uses an Unbreakable Vow to trick Voldemort into becoming his slave for a day was improvised during rehearsal, then later added to the show. This explains Voldemort's response "that's the second time that's happened!" Rumbleroar asking Dumbledore if he remembered his spacesuit was ad-libbed by Jim Povolo (Goyle) because Dylan Saunders (Dumbledore) forgot his line. Before Dylan Saunders (Dumbledore) joined the cast, Joe Walker (Voldemort) was intended to play both Voldemort and Dumbledore. Brian Rosenthal (Quirrell) was at one point considered for the role of Harry and Lauren Lopez (Draco) was considered for Hermione. Ron wears a headband because Joey Richter found that it helped the wig stay on better. Lastly, speaking of Zac Efron, I recommend 17 Again, which stars Matthew Perry as well, and the High School Musical series with Quynh if she's interested (I know you watched the first two HSM with someone else). And She's All That, though it doesn't star Zac Efron, is a good late 90s chick flick too, starring Freddie Prince Jr. (who, if you don't know, is married to Sarah Michelle Gellar aka Buffy).
YES! Definitely check out more Starkid stuff! And not just their parodies, but they also have some AMAZING original stuff really worth checking out. If not reaction style, then in your own free time.
This was great to watch. I've been a fan of these musicals since they first came out and your reactions are some of the best I've seen. Would definitely enjoy watching you guys react to the sequel (as well as the third part of the trilogy A Very Potter Senior Year).
A lot of Darren Criss’s portrayal of Harry is self-satire of his persona in the music and theater departments of the school they were attending. He obviously wasn’t as self-obsessed but as someone who was obviously headed for big things (he started landing TV roles later that year) he fit that archetype enough to play into it.
I'll always love how in A Very Potter Sequel they slipped in the bit about Harry "being the annoying guy who plays weird guitar covers of Disney songs" xDD I would say "oh, college Darren, how I love you", but to be fair he still plays acoustic Disney covers to this day hehe. But the ones he uploaded on youtube back in the day will always be my favorite!
Omg what a crossover between 2 channels i love. I really hope if you enjoyed this you get to watch their later stuff they only get better and the music becomes amazing
I do hope you wat he'd the last HP before this one lol but either way, so excited for this. I hope you react to all of Starkid. They are so good with mixing comedy with drama and lore, you really won't be disappointed. Also, they're all just stupid talented. Everyone in this play sounds better and better as time goes by and the people who get added are also some of the most talented performers I've seen. Can't wait for you to see it!
I'm pretty sure they've watched all the movies. DH P1 is already on Patreon but beyond that, they actually started watching them late last year and uploaded the first one on Patreon, but had issues with copyright on YT.
Starkid started off as some theatre kid friends in university making silly musicals together, but they're so popular now that they're a full-on theatre group now. They put out a new musical around once a year and they're still putting out AMAZING stuff. Highly recommend you check out more, particularly Twisted, which is a parody on Aladdin from the perspective of Jafar. Also, Darren Criss (who plays Harry in this show) went on to be a pretty popular actor, mostly known for his role in the show Glee.
And thus the Starkid fans descend upon your channel, and we beg you react to all three Potter musicals and then all the rest of their shows lmao welcome to the rabbit hole
For those of you concerned about spoilers, please don't worry we have finished filming all of the Harry Potter films.
10. The Guy Who Didn't Like Musicals - Part 1 of the Hatchetfield Series, my absolute favorite, is Starkids first try on the Horror genre and started a new series which is as today still not completed
13. Cinderella’s Castle - Next Musical, not yet released
Also worthwhile mentioning:
Spies are Forever - Made by some of Starkids crewmembers (including Joey Richter (Ron) and Brian Rosenthal (Quirrel)) forming the Tin Can Bros and additionally starring Lauren Lopez (Draco) and Joseph Walker (Voldemort) is a great story set in the Spy Genre with amazing set quality and entertainment that is on the same level as the best Starkid shows
Nightmare Time - Multiple short stories set in the Hatchettfield Series, read by multiple members of starkid and live music
Nightmare Time 2 - Season two of Nightmare Time
VHS Christmas Carol - Short Musical about the Christmas Carol
don't forget about the short film 'Working Boys' ( only watch after seeing AT LEAST the Hatchetfield trilogy ), also that a fact about the Nightmare Time seasons 1 & 2 were filmed during quarantine/lockdown, so its all over video call/discord- but the stories still come across well and you still get immersed.
This is an excellent list! Hope he sees it :D it may be worth mentioning that the nightmare times were performed on webcams because it came out during covid. But despite this, the stories, actors and humor are still great!
My fav. Plays in order are:
1. Nerdy Prudes Must Die
2. The Guy Who Didn't Like Musicals
3. Twisted
4. The Trail To Oregon
5. Black Friday
6. Holy Musical Batman
The others I don't really rewatch 😅
It wasn't fully improvised, she had done that at rehearsals before. It's just that nobody expected that she'd do it on stage as well.
I WILL NEVER GET OVER HOW *TOTALLY AWESOME* THIS SHOW IS, AND WILL ALWAYS *FIND* AN EXCUSE TO RE WATCH IT
Ive seen a lot of people talking about how Darren made it big on screen here in the comments (Darren is the guy playing Harry). Just wanted to point out how the woman playing bellatrix, Britney Coleman, made it kinda big on Broadway. She was recently Barbara in the beetlejuice tour and is currently playing Bobby in the company tour. She is awesome.
That's so awesome, I had no idea! Can totally see her rocking it as Barbara!
the looks on people's faces when they realise what's happening in that scene with Voldy and Bellatrix always bring me so muuch joy :D. Hope you guys check out more Starkid shows, this group is really one of a kind!
My favorite is the face after any name drop. There’s so much context behind each character that people usually have a very cheerful or very worried reaction. Sometimes both.
"Does J K Rowling approve of this?"
Well, considering Team Starkid released a song about their Harry Potter musicals called "We Don't Want to be Sued", after they recieved some legal push back from WB and/or Rowling, I'm gonna guess the answer is no.
It was Warner Bros.
considering JK's views on other things, I don't think the cast much cares anymore either XD. This is about the only HP content I'll still engage with tbh, because it's not at all connected to her and the people involved are genuine people
This was an immediate click. I hope you don't stop with just the HP ones, Starkid is fantastic
LMAO.
I dislike that word, "cult". No, it's an exciting new religion that I've started
I always say that us Dikrats are rabid in all the best ways, lol
That’s the Cult of the Starry Children to you
@@rlvids9889 I believe it’s “_Church_ of the Starry Children”, after all it’s not a cult, it’s just a fun new religion that some eldritch horrors from another dimension started
at this time they were mfa theater students in Ann Arbor.
Actually that would be the Snape actor, Tessa and Joe.
@@afry6400 Lauren Lopez plays Draco, and is now married to Joey Richter, who plays Ron. Tessa Netting is not in this show, and that's who you're thinking of as being married to Joe Moses, who plays Snape.
@@afry6400 than you are insanely misinformed ;)
A bunch of people have said this, but if you enjoyed this, please give their Hatchetfield series a look!
Would be a good Halloween project lol.
They started off doing these shows while in or just shortly after leaving University... I think they originally posted this on youtube because they wanted a way to have a record of the show for the cast and their families and maybe they decided burning DVDs was too difficult or something lol... Then it gained a fair amount of popularity... Which lead to more shows ^_^;;
The quality gets a fair bit better over time... It was cool watching the other guys on the old channel watching them too.
the starkid musicals are so good!!! Twisted and the Hatchetfield series are by far the best in my opinion but AVPM is where it all began!!
YESSSSS your foray into Starkid begins! Can’t wait to watch this!
THE BASS PLAYER WAS CISCO WHAT
@@nyygabs Yep! Carlos Valdes (Cisco) is a Starkid, he also wrote the music for their next musical. :D
Not to mention Evanna Lynch as Luna in AVPSenior year!
Starkid is such a good production studio and you shoukd definitely check out the rest of their musicals
Fun fact: This came out before the Half Blood Prince Film (but after all the books).
Id love it if they dove into the hatchetfield shows! More people should
You’ve got to watch A Very Potter Sequel and A Very Potter Senior Year after this!
Please we need more starkid. Us fans are starving for reactions 😂
I'm freaking out, I love your reactions and I'm obsessed with Starkid, please check out more of their stuff especially the Hatchetfield series
Yay , you should also react to a very potter sequel, its even better
Awww omg I recommended this I think! So happy to see y’all react to it! Please do the 2nd one and the third one!
It would be fantastic if you went into the other Starkid shows; I rewatch every Starkid reaction I can find!
I remember when your bro reacted to this one! Looking forward to the series with you guys!
Believe it or not, A Very Potter Sequel is even funnier.
I don't know... Some parts definitely are better, but I'm not sure it's consistently as good as this one... Some parts are a bit too long and I don't know... Still lots of great laughs and songs though.
I personally have never been a fan of AVPS, it just never clicked with me. Not sure why.
Fun fact: there are 3 direct references to Avatar the Last Airbender in the musical
“So we kissed… and I thought we’d be together, but we aren’t”
Voldy’s monologue to Harry before killing him is straight ripped from Ozai.
Don’t remember what the third is
@@fightingfaerie I kept it vague since I'm trying not to spoil. They are watching atla and are only in season 1.
Can you put a spoiler warning and name them? Watched this musical numerous times and Avatar I think I went through the full show twice, but at vastly different points in my life and I definitely never notice any references and would love to know. 😅✌️
You guys gotta watch "A Very Potter Sequel" and "A Very Potter Senior Year" if you enjoyed this.
Darren got the job in Glee as the creators saw this musical! Now he’s got a Golden Globe and a Daytime Emmy!
BRO SERIOUSLY MORE PEOPLE NEED TO SEE THIS I BEEN SHOUTING IT FROM THE ROOFTOPS I WAS SO ECSTATIC JUST NOW WHEN I SAW THIS THUMBNAIL
Yes! This is very exciting! I love seeing people discover starkid!
It's totally awesome that you decided to watch this, so THANK YOU!! I hope you'll check out the other 2 in this series: A Very Potter Sequel and A Very Potter Senior Year!! They're amazing and chaotic, as all things should be😂
And if you'd like to see more from them, I'd go for Holy Musical B@man next!
Wow imagine this being your first introduction to Dramione fanfic 😂
I love Starkid and echo everyone saying you should watch more! Aside from their AVPM series, my favorite of theirs is Twisted.
So excited to see you react to this. hope you watch all the Potter musicals!!!
yesss, more starkid! My favorites are Twisted and the Hatchetfield trilogy (starts with The Guy Who Didn't Like Musicals)
They were in college back in 2008 ish. Darren Criss went on to star on Glee and Hedwig and the Inch or wtv that musical was.
I have loved watching your HP movie reactions and gasped when I saw this!! haven't watched the video yet but hope y'all love the musical
YESS MORE STARKID PLEASEEEEE
I`m glad you reacted to this. Thank you. It was nice rewatching it with you :)))
PLEASE, watch and react to the two other Harry Potter musicals! Sequel and Senior Year!
My sister had a Potter phase and would quote this all the time. Draco is my favorite
1:54:13 if you're still wondering, that was intentional: Draco thinking he finally got his moment to shine- but gets immediately shut down and they move on to the next part😂
Also, the part with the handshake/unbreakable vow when Draco says: 'and you have to be my slave for a whole day' was improvised, so the shock on Voldemort's face was real😂
The odd couple was a TV series about 2 guys living in an apartment one was a slob the other a clean freak with allergies.
I managed to get one of my brothers hooked onto the Hatchetfield series through Nerdy Prudes Must Die
i urge you to watch this HP series but then to not stop there and watch other musicals from the company, they are SO so good
Now for a very potter sequel
these musicals were my whole personality in middle school omg
I haven't watched yet, but I literally gasped out loud when I saw you watched this. I hope you finish the trilogy. These are just so much fun.
Twisted is pretty wonderful, honestly. Starkid is just a fun time all around!
OMG yes, I hope you watched these after the last films. There are also two others after this one.
Fun fact: Ron Weasley and Draco Malfoy here got married.
What?! Why am I only finding out Lauren and Joey got married?? I'm so happy for them! ❤
I'm pretty sure they've watched all the movies. DH P1 is already on Patreon but beyond that, they actually started watching them late last year and uploaded the first one on Patreon, but had issues with copyright on YT.
@@Heida77 okay, kinda figured, but good.
@@darling.s I know right, puts "Granger, Danger" into a new light, eh?
Actually the Snape actor. Google Tessa Netting and Joe Moses.
This is such a nice surprise! Takes me back to your brother and cousin reacting to this on their channel 😉

This is produced by StarKid Productions (also known as Team StarKid), an American musical theatre company founded in 2009 at the University of Michigan by Darren Criss (Harry), Brian Holden, Matt Lang and Nick Lang.
Fun facts:
Both Darren Criss (Harry) and A.J.
This explains Voldemort's response "that's the second time that's happened!"
Rumbleroar asking Dumbledore if he remembered his spacesuit was ad-libbed by Jim Povolo (Goyle) because Dylan Saunders (Dumbledore) forgot his line.
I would die to see you do more Starkid! The productions only get better the more recently they were performed
Omg, I was SOOO hoping you guys would watch this!! Can't wait to watch!! You HAVE to watch all 3 of their Potter musicals!
Omg Starkid and A Very Potter Musical has been my fav since forever.
I think I have watched all 3 musical parodies more times than the movies
how the heck did i miss this reaction omg
Yeeeees, and the starkid journey starts. Excited to see ya'lls reaction 😆
That piano bit at 11:58 reminds of March of the black Queen at about 4:05 after "He'll bring a little love".
2:29:57 Voldemort totally rips off Fire Lord Ozai🤣🤣
So excited to watch this with you!!!
She’s all “I love Snape, how is this going to live up to my expectations?”
Oh, just you wait!
❤🎉
If you celebrate Christmas I definitely recommend VHS Christmas Carol Live! The guy who plays Dumbledore plays Scrooge.
The next one is even funnier. I'd watch y'all reacting to that for sure
I’m so glad you’re doing Starkid! I hope you do the full run through of all their shows!
No way no WAY NO WAAAAY!!!
Y’all have to keep going and watch “Twisted” - Starkid’s best work and guaranteed to make you laugh
And thus the Starkid fans descend upon your channel, and we beg you react to all three Potter musicals and then all the rest of their shows lmao welcome to the rabbit hole
WATCH THE SECOND ONE AS WELL PLEASE ITS JUST AS GOOD
I can't help but see a combo of James Masters and Marsden in Voldemort.
i suggest "Twisted" too. it's one of their best imo
