Roger Staubach wasn't just a regular old quarterback. He is really a larger than life entity that lived a life that regular people can't live up to. War hero,devout family man,in business everything he touches turns to gold. On the field he was a champion,and he did it the right way. He said the right things,and led by example. He left footprints in the history of the sport nobody else can really fill. It's not an easy thing to live up to...but there are 31 other teams. If Dak doesn't want to,and/or doesn't have the stuff to live up to it,he should play elsewhere. It's nobody's fault,and there's no blame to be placed anywhere. He's not putting one second's thought to even trying to fill the footprint. He's building a brand. He's self promoting. That's fine. But it's not based on any of the stuff Roger was made of. He doesn't really even show "flashes" of it. There's no similarities at all. People like to throw words around,but none of that makes it so. He doesn't have that kind of competitor in him. His brand isn't built on any results,and it doesn't have to be. The money rolls in regardless. Again, that is fine...for some other team. Troy had the competitor in him. He just let the brand come organically after what he did on the field. He took the footprints Roger left seriously. If any quarterback plays for this team,and doesn't put any thoughts towards the legacy? They are standing in a place where they should not be. If the legacy is just something of a bygone era? There's no reason for a lot of people to even watch this team. A lot of people have been waiting a long time to see it again. If they aren't even trying,and it's not coming back? They should come right out and tell us that they're wasting our time,or we're wasting it. If they are content to simply go through the motions,and live off past glory...they don't need to hold millions of people hostage. People who are truly "all in" in investing towards waiting for the glory to return. If none of that is really part of the big picture, again.. that is fine. Just tell us.
I couldn't disagree more with this take on Dak. Sounds like you're talking about the ineptitude of the front office. Yes, we know they are better at their jobs than we would be, Fish. That said, they are worse at their jobs than most of their peers and colleagues in the same position(s) across the league.

@@cowabunganosky did you ever see him tell a company he's endorsing a product for that he can't shoot a commercial because he really needs to put extra practice time in? Has there ever been a single news story, either put out or leaked,that Dak has spent his own dime in the off-season to bring in a quarterback guru to work on his footwork and throwing motion? In football, he's doing just enough to get by. I'm talking "doing" not saying. Dak gives zero f*cks. What's the incentive to go the extra mile, when everyone makes excuses for him? Why be great, when you can be mediocre and everyone says you are great? Again,good for him and all...to live such a charmed life just skating. I'm not hating on him for that. I'm just saying it's fine for any other team. Most teams don't have the shoes to fill that Dak's predecessors left behind in Dallas,back when being a Dallas Cowboys quarterback meant something. And if it doesn't mean anything anymore, that's fine too. Just tell the people waiting around for glory to return,that that's not even a factor in the equation anymore. The truth doesn't cost a penny to tell. Honesty is supposed to be a virtue. We tell kids that it is anyway. Be honest with us. For the last 3 decades we've had 53 man rosters where 3-4 guys really are "all in" and 49 who aren't. You see them hugging opponents who just got done crushing them after games. They don't care. I'm not placing it all on Dak. But if that mentality starts at the top? It's all cause and effect after that.
I don't know what companies he may or may not have told anything to, neither do you. Difference there is that I'm not assuming those kinds of things while you choose to do so. None of the things you're accusing Dak of, even if true, would be exclusive to him. He has absolutely owned the division so far in his career, that's an objective truth. It's more likely we are a worse team without him for who knows how long than it is likely that we get better if we let him walk... for nothing in return at that.

I’m curious if the players could sue the NFL for for unjust slander for their suspension if the police say they are not guilty and the DA refuses to prosecute them for their accused crimes?
You know, there’s a Grand Canyon between not guilty and factually innocent. No one is ever found innocent, even when they are. And after you see a few folks get off on technicalities when their guilt is obvious, taking people to court isn’t as simple as you think it is…how does one prove it beyond what they found in court?

Dak's contract number is not just about this year, it's about the financials next year and the years following. They need to find the next man up in the mean time. They caught lightning in a bottle twice with Tony and Dak. Remember their ineffectiveness at securing a QB between Troy and Tony.

@@rswart14 Well, I know football. And I know it well enough to realize...for the last 3 decades,we've had the 53 man rosters you mentioned. And on those 53 man rosters each year? There's 3-4 guys that really, really care. And 49 that don't. The average fan spends easily 40 days a year, wrapped up in the draft,the news, scrimmages,games,ect...If you do the simple math,after 10 years, that's 400 days. Over a year. We only get one life. A limited time here on this earth. And a large chunk of it is invested in a bunch of people who don't even care. Right after a crushing loss..we see it. Players smiling, joking around and hugging opponents, swapping jerseys....they don't care. I'm finding it more and more difficult each passing year to come up with a reason why we should care? They don't. If the huge legacy left behind by guys like Roger and Troy,are something that's simply gone,and it's not coming back? I know there's millions of people waiting around to see it come back. If that's something that's not even an afterthought by the players or organization...I can say that they actually owe us enough to tell us. I'm generally not a person who walks around thinking anything is owed to me. I'm fine with that. But when you invest decades of time, money and emotion....This one time I will say people are owed at least the truth.
@@pastorofmuppets22 The fact fans care that much about a team is sad for them. I follow the team and get pissed when they lose but also have the mental stability to not let it affect my life. Blaming one player for this team’s failures is idiotic and flat wrong. Just shows people would rather be haters than actually understand the issues as to why this team doesn’t do anything when it matters.
