The comments criticizing Gould's composing: Remember he was still in high school when he wrote this. Also, for the most part, he would have agreed with you, and wouldn't have wanted these to be made public. Tap into your generous side when commenting.
of the big-name pianists, Alexis Weissenberg ( a pianist Gould very much admired) had much more flair for composition, although he didn't have a particularly individual voice.
@@MorganHayes_Composer.Pianist Weissenberg was quite good I agree. Horowitz falls in the same category in my opinion, very fiery and explosive but influenced by Rachmaninoff quite clearly.
So You Want to Write a Fugue? is pretty good, though, as is the Lieberson Madrigal. I mean, both are comedy pieces, but imo they're well-written ones. This one's a bit meh, but that doesn't mean everything he wrote was bad (even if it brings the average down)
There are some nice lyrical moments. He's a master performer and a student of composition, there's nothing wrong with that.
I like his composition.

An excellent case study into how even the world’s greatest pianists can be terrible composers!

what's worse though, this gould sonata or most Schoenberg?
Sounds like a bad Hindemith
@@alessandropalazzani redundant, I think
Lmaooo
I don't like this unfortunately. As great as Gould's playing is for certain composers, his compositional skills aren't, let's say, very good.
