    This match is the product of the Williams sisters brought to the game. Keep your eye on one player in some of those long points. The acceleration on Osaka's backhand and Sloane's forehand is insane. The athleticism is there with there movements as well. The whole field this year are all very fit and fast

    Sloane really exposed Oska's weaknesses in her game during this match. I also think Naomi got a little impatient in the longer rallies which you cannot do against Sloane when she is playing well.

    • @user-mk9hv8sl5p
      @user-mk9hv8sl5p 5 лет назад +2

      she exposed her terrible net game : no swinging volleys to close off points at the net and sloane is a speed demon. some of those points weren't even naomi's fault per se. most ppl on tour wouldn't have been able to get to half these shots

    • @user-mk9hv8sl5p
      @user-mk9hv8sl5p 5 лет назад +4

      @17sunnyhour - not really. naomi played classic first strike tennis against williams. the rallies were on average 3-4 shots. that's not patience: that was beating williams at her own game. completely different situation here.

      Sloane full of steroids

    • @jimjones3287
      @jimjones3287 5 лет назад

      Osaka's weakness is her double handed backhand. She places it to far away from the line which makes it very easy to return and gain control of the game. She also is shaky on her volleys. Her forehand is excellent though. That backhand is very cringe though. She could have won the match if she placed her backhands closer to the line not near the center of the court for an easy return.

Don't forget, Serena won her first grandslam at the age of 19, and she only won her second grandslam 3 years later. After that Serena won a grandslam almost every year. Naomi was 21 before winning her first grandslam, so she still got 3 years to find her drive and gain some experience, before she unleashes her power, so she is still in the game!

    @nigee_219 5 лет назад +76

    Sloane is crazy fast, and her forehand can really be deadly. What's crazy is I think she can be a lot more agressive, and energy proficient. For instance, that point she won with slice forehand drop shot on the run, she could have hit a few agressive forehands so she wouldn't even be in that position to have to make lower percentage shot. If she can find a balance of aggression, and defense when needed, she'll be so much better. She has enough margin on the forehand and backhand.

      @@ibnBobby80 give it time her frustrations will appear in some form as the pressure to win mounts. The more she wins she will face racism just like Serena. You see Naomi hasn't faced half of what Serena has but she will and rightfully so she's just embarking on winning big tournaments . The outside and unfair pressure will come. There's no reason to HATE anyone because all your doing is HATING yourself. It's a poisonous emotion that rots within you. Naomi is playing in a highly competitive sport on the professional circuit and you have ppl rooting against you, making derogatory comments and pressure to stand up for yourself, yes you can get sideways emotionally. Be careful when you become judgemental, you haven't walked in Serena's shoes. I wish Naomi nothing but the best but she idolize Serena and is very aware of her path and what she has endured throughout her career. Noobs will say this is an upset, but it's not at all. The problem is they have established a lot of hype around Osaka's figure. The WTA desperately needs a new Serena, but you don't just build a 23 GS champion in a few months from scratch. Let's see if this girl can handle the pressure in the next months, but I personally think that this new project will end up in smoke, as usual...

    Sloane is a great tennis player. She has the talent and ability to beat anyone. Sometimes I think she gets disinterested maybe because she doesn't need the money or doesn't really enjoy the training. She should have won most of the matches that she lost, so it's really frustrating watching her not knowing which Sloane is going to show up.

    The new rivalry in women's tennis. Their games are evenly matched. Sloane is the first player I've seen who was not blown off the court by Osaka since the U.S. Open. Also, smart variations of pace and spins to throw off Naomi's game. You cannot go toe-to-toe with Osaka's power game, gotta employ other tactics. Biggest shock of the match was no Sharapova-Serena like screaming in every point.

    • @rlgnoles1
      @rlgnoles1 5 лет назад

      @shilin1 U clearly DON'T follow tennis much as you would have known Osaka lost to Pliskova a few weeks ago in a final! She is getting there but it's a long way to 23 and MOST of the top 100 aren't fit to tie Serena's shoe laces! 😎

      I also thought Sloane should have made it further in US open. She should have beaten the crafty Sevastova, but was mentally taxed (the pressure of defending her title got to her, in every round). And I think on form, Sloane would have frustrated Serena, made her play that extra ball and extract an error. Oh well. There always next year. I want to see Sloane hoist the Roland Garros Cup too!

    For a moment there,I thought Osaka was invisible and unstoppable , playing the perfect game.
    Serena should thank Sloane who has clinically dissected Osaka successfully and laid bare her weaknesses for all and sundry.
    From now on,it's a different ball game.

    Great game by Sloane. She defended really well. Still rooting for Osaka but I still like Sloane a lot too. Osaka needs to stay composed and stop doing too much. Naomi not challenging was the deal breaker. That could've changed the game.

      I agree with your comments. I couldn't believe she didn't challenge. That's what challenge system is for... human error, might as well make use of it. I'm also surprised Naomi Osaka didn't bring her coach down to help her regain her composure in the third set. I was glad to see her in good spirits after the match in post game interview.

    I think Sloane played very patiently and took what Osaka gave her. I think that her conditioning also played a big part in her win also as Osaka seemed to wither a bit in the third set. Going forward, Sloane is going to have to take more chances and needs to add more pace to her first serve to beat the top players. There are some real tigresses at the top

      I don't know. I think Naomi actually did ok. Sloane just managed to get a lot of balls back that on other courts would've been unreturnable. Sloane kept making Naomi hit one more ball, and Naomi kept getting frustrated and over-hit. Tough match for both women... I'm excited to see how the rest of the tournament plays out.

    • @thejenesisb5444

      I wish Naomi can approach the net more often, especially after one big hitting, she should have charged forward instead of staying 3 feet behind baseline... but then Sloane is a tricky player herself, great reaction with great hands....

      There’s nothing similar about their games. Stephens is more of a defensive counter puncher who will keep the rally until her opponent makes a mistake or she will use her opponent’s pace to hit like sharp angles. She’ll also hit a booming forehand every once in awhile.
      Osaka is mostly an aggressive baseliner who likes to outhit and overpower her opponents with her big backhand/forehand and serve. They are the polar opposite when it comes to style.
      The only similarities between them is they are both have some African blood. Ain’t much other than that.

    Niomi is a young and upcoming star, Sasha should not push her beyond expectations, she will get there. Being a true champion takes time and Sasha of all persons should know that because he was Serena's hitting partner.
