  • My time at the Duchy of Bicolline was an amazing unforgettable experience and I’m glad to have gone. I went with the Voyage North and a lot of things were covered by them and it was great to be able to just show up, have a cot and tent ready, with add ons available like bedding and sleeping bags as well as having lunch and dinner covered each day. They aren’t the only way to get to Bicolline, but they are one way to have everything covered if you come from overseas or too far to commute.
    Friends, fighting, concerts, unforgettable characters, incredible nature, beautiful buildings, Bicolline really had it all. It’s one thing to see videos of it online, and it’s a whole other thing to see it in person. I’m really grateful I got to go.
    I hope you guys enjoy this video about my experience. Let me know about yours in the comments below, or link your own experience at Bicolline video I’d love to hear about it.

    24:33 The marshall probably taught you the expression "Je peux embarquer ?", where the english expression "to embark" comes from.
    Basically means "to get on the boat", but applies to several other means of transportation.
    You probably know a lot more french than you think - So many english expressions and words are derived from french, ever since the battle of Hastings in 1066.
    Love your videos, keep up the amazing work !

      I remember it being longer and more confusing to me but that could have just been my brain really stressed about how to say the words lol. Thank you very much! I appreciate that. (:

    Couldn't have described the event any better myself. Yes I remembered that story of you accidentally getting involved in a duel, it never gets old to hear it LOL. What a magical time it was, hoping to experiencing it again soon. Cheers!

      Thanks (: and yeah it’s embarrassing haha, but it’s funny as heck just thinking about me running in with a spear and interrupting a duel. It really was fantastic! Hope to be back at Bicolline in a couple of years myself!

    Embarquer: 'Hum-Bark-Hey' : To embark. Usually used to get in a ship, but is also used in Québecois French to get in any vehicle.

      Thank you (: I don’t think I even touched on half of mine because some moments were personal exchanges with friends made and while they are dear to my heart, sharing them doesn’t do them justice in a way. So I totally get that!

    Can you bring your own food/drinks & camping equipment like a tent ?

    • @wolf.maiden
      @wolf.maiden  9 месяцев назад

      Yes you can! Not with the voyage north they have packages only for using their tents and getting in their meal plan which is also why it costs so much with them. However most people camp in their tents and bring their own food outside of the voyage north. (:

    Any advice about which guild/house to join as a first time So Cal attendee with many years of LARP experience?

    • @wolf.maiden
      @wolf.maiden  Год назад +1

      Well there’s a lot of political change that happened really recently and so there’s a few differences between Nova vitae and Ordo and the Marchwardens. Particularly who they are allied with so Nova is with the south while Ordo and the marchwardens are with the empire I believe. With that alone being a gigantic change and I would not recommend Nova because of it. Ordo is safe I personally love the colors and so I picked Ordo, I don’t know all the houses in every guild, but I was a Fletcher which is a house about having a good time and helping others have a good time, if you want more role play you should join the Bellus Aurora at Bicolline which is more focused on interpersonal roleplay and they get together a lot for events! There there is a singing guild and combat guild, it’s really up to you what you like most about LARP or what experience you want while at Bicolline! I hope that helps. (:

      No problem! Questions are good (: I believe they have a schedule for owners of building for times they can actually just vacation on site as well as being able to use them at most if not all the events!

    How are you filming and taking photos? I thought modern gear was not allowed.

    • @wolf.maiden
      @wolf.maiden  Год назад

      This was all before game, so it was all fine. Though to be honest a lot of people filmed during game, some disguised their equipment and some didn’t. I think people were even just bringing their phones out to take pictures in game blatantly it was a point of controversy this year.

    How budget breaking is this?

    • @wolf.maiden
      @wolf.maiden  11 месяцев назад +1

      It depends on how you get there but it’s pretty expensive, with the voyage north you’re looking at well over a grand to just go, not to mention any clothes you need to buy for the trip etc. There’s other ways to go if you can drive and bring your tent though, and that’s significantly less but you’d have to figure out food and things yourself. It’s definitely expensive I can’t really go back anytime soon but it was a great experience.
