- Loyal customers rallied behind Colonial Donuts Wednesday as a way to show support for the Lakeshore institution after it was robbed last week.

I've been a customer for 30 years. A good family runs this business. It's terrible that lazy, ignorant people destroy society for everyone, including themselves. They don't feel it because most people are good, but if if most people were like those thieves, they'd also be crime victims.

You can do this buyout once or twice to generate some publicity for what a nice group of people you are, but after the cameras go away that doesn't change the fact that the robbers are still out there and will continue to commit crimes until Oakland wise up and say enough is enough.
They can keep going, but mf will know they have even more cash to take.
What you are describing is called "virtue signalling" which woke and leftists engage in all of the time, until they become negatively affected personally. Just like the people in Chicago and NYC who thought being a designated Sanctuary City granted them sainthood. Now that busloads of illegal aliens are arriving on their doorsteps they are screaming at the sky at all of the money and resources are being drained to feed and house their "guests".

If we grouped, say, MAGA into one giant virtual city I think you would find it is jam packed full of pedos and active shooters. Every rural small town incident, attributed to one large overreaching categorization. Like "OAKLAND". This one city is bigger than your entire political party. Anything that could possibly happen in your town ever, happens three times a day in Oakland.

I’m originally from California and only have the best memories of Oakland and SanFran. So watching my heart home fall apart violently is heartbreaking because I’ve always planned to go home to retire, but now it’s not even a real option.
@kelleywyskiel3478 Im from CA, when has Oakland ever been a safe place?! Violence there is nothing new, it’s not just recently falling apart. I’ve witnessed murders there when I was a teen 25 years ago.
I'm originally from Oakland CA, and have actually been to Colonial Donuts many times as a child in the early 70s. A terrorizing family lived up the street on Trestle Glen Road, and some of the boys from there, who attended my elementary school, stole several boxes of donuts and threw them all over the sidewalk in front of the store. Another time, they robbed the store, and sat on our front porch counting the money.
I absolutely DESPISE Oakland! Soon as I turned 18, I tore out of there like a bat out of hell. It's the BEST decision I ever made!

I used to go here almost every night after midnight 18 years ago. I knew the dad who worked there everyday. Dude made the best croissant sandwiches and fresh donuts. I couldn't believe it when robbers from SF targeted this place... but to see the community having their backs is amazing. I'm guessing his daughter has taken over, I'll miss that OG.

Attempts at going cashless have been met with resistance. Whataboutism - the homeless, those without bank accounts, credit cards, debit cards, etc. after all our $$ does have a saying about legal tender for debts private and public.
There is a donut shop in Seal Beach, CA where the one of the owners was diagnosed with cancer so people in the community arranged buy outs for weeks so that the the spouse could close early and be with wife during her treatments.

What everyone did to ensure all the doughnuts were bought out at Colonial Doughnuts is fantastic. I really liked what Brenda Ly reportedly did with the 4 dozen doughnuts that she purchased was really sweet (no pun intended).

Another show of supports is protesting/lobbying your representatives and criminal justice system on being lax on criminal convictions and sentencing. There needs to be consequences to this insanity.

Amazing what they did.
We have a donut shop in my small town called jeri,s donuts. They've been in business for almost 50 years and make the best donuts you have ever tasted. All homemade plus the icing. So light and fluffy. They make this butterscotch icing that is delish. This shop reminds me of our hometown donut shop and I would do anything to keep them from going out of business if they were robbed. So sweet and generous of these people coming together to help out. If I lived there I would come and buy some of their donuts. They look delish. I hope they get the robbers that did this and make them eat 100 donuts at one time. Maybe they will stay away from donut shops. 😆 These people that steal from these businesses never realize what they do taking money that keeps them in business.
Wow! Those women at the shop are so brave! I would not even dare to go to Oakland let alone open the shop 24/7. Perhaps a cash-less model would help keeping the robbers away from the store.
