Here at Mexico, we use the other pumpkin to make a really delicious treat called calabaza enmielada. At least were I live we call the grayish pumpkin "calabaza de castaña", and we cook it on a syrupy, kind of black sugar and water based mix; usually along with camote (sweet potato). I usually serve it in a bowl with milk because on it's own can get too sweet very quickly, and also because it just goes along pretty well!
I know how to preserve a pumpkin forever, take a picture.

@@KraftingChaos that’s great unfortunately resin didn’t last as long. I would love to know what happens to the pumpkin overtime after freeze drying it.
@@sadmanislam5111 Yeah, and it appears that freeze drying makes the pumpkin brittle and therefor not easily stored. So I am thinking that if they can get it fully freeze dried, then get it coated in resin, it would be dried and sealed and protected for long term use. At least that is where my mind is going with it. LOL

Love Cali but her pumpkin carving scares me. She looked so close to stabbing herself a couple times.
I have discovered this year that blue pumpkins are the best for eating. Despite being externally blue, they have a much deeper orange color on the interior, and they're much drier, so you get more actual usable pumpkin goop per pound of raw pumpkin than for regular "pie" pumpkins. The only downside is that the skin doesn't separate from the flesh as well.

Freeze-dry shells: walnuts, pecans, peanuts, etc. Then can they be made into edible paste a la peanut-butter? Or turn them into composite pressed board for building? This may lead to "patents"?

You should have aerated the inside of the pumpkin . Those holes would have helped dry out the pumpkin . Afterwards you could use a lacquer over the pumpkin to keep it from rotting . Aerating any thick item you want too freeze dry . Helps the process

@TKOR: I think you should try re-carbonate apple juice, orange juice, and grape juice in a soda stream machine. I have tried this before on grape juice but it didn’t work as I intended.

Pumpkin puree (off the grocery store shelf, not the expensive EXACT SAME product at your pet store) is a great treat for dogs. It has nutrients and will GREATLY help with stomach issues... Think Pepto Bismol for dogs... Just don't over do it...
