- Picture cars are an interesting breed. They're not perfect. Sometimes not pretty. But when you see them on screen they look amazing. This was a fun inside look at the Plymouth GTX from Fast & Furious 8
"Fate of the Furious." For those of you that have been asking for Mopar...here you go.
Enjoy!

“2000 horse power, try 3000, try 5000!!!”🤣😂😂
I was digging the movie, but that line almost made walkout after I heard that😂😂
Magucci13 seriously 😂 it’s bad enough with the fake ass stunts but really?! Wouldn’t matter if he had 200 hp or 10,000hp no grip on the wheels and being tied down from every angle hp or torque won’t compensate for grip on the road 😂😂
@@cjholsclaw3123 he's out here with a manual 5 speed pushing 5000hp?!😂 Yeah talk about being a pain in the ass during rush hour traffic 😂
@@cjholsclaw3123 atleast if they would've started at 800 and worked their way to 1200hp. It would be within the realm of possibility
Try 375
That is such a badass ride, most gear heads don’t realize how potent there drivetrains were and cool looking the coke bottle Mopar styling was, although some weren’t fans the B body cars were given the long nose/short deck E body feel ....only on a larger unibody frame! Thanks for sharing
I was never a fan of this car until seeing this one then it changed my mind. Great stance and overall look.
AutotopiaLA it’s definitely has an aggressive look, it is the wheel/tire combination and and the stance gives it the right look
B and e bodys always beautiful. A body ok depending on how you made it look. C bodys are good for lowriders or cruisers but still dont like those too much
Mopar family salute! Plymouth really needs to make a comeback!
👊
It's a bad ass car for sure. I'd get it titled, then drop a built 440 in it.
That would be sick! I love the stance and overall look of this car
Hopefully a built 440 with 2000hp just to make it that little bit more identical to the movie
@Marlon Clay We seriously don't care dumb bot
@@kianwynterdeguzman6073 2000hp 440? That's a nice way to spend 200,000 bucks. Lmfao
@@scottcarroll7782 i dont even know the price of the engines but i do know nelson racing engines has a build like that in their maximus charger i just doubt that the magnum is still around 440ci
I'd still wanna drive it, its a dream car
It was hard to not go for a real drive, believe me
@@AutotopiaLA As always thanks for the great content and replying to comments!
You’re welcome 👊
Yes I also
Thats a grown ass man car. 👍 them tires are wide
Seriously fat tears on this thing. Badass
What's the price of this car
@@mr.technofriend5012 like 40k
I’m a grown ass man
marcell jackson I may not be a “grown ass man”, but I’m sure as hell wide as those tires 😆
Nothing can touch American muscle
I feel the same way bro
Their biggest enemy: turns.
Unless they’re built ground up then the game changes.
@@s.stan007 YAWN give it a rest...
except corners
That's actually a 1972. Also, Plymouth combined the GTX and Road Runner into a single package that year.
What do you mean
Yes it's a '72. The rear tail lights are the giveaway. The '71 tail lights are not as refined.
True story..... Dead give away are the side maker lights and tail lights
How about the satellite grill,383 wasn’t available in 72 either. Notice the power brake booster under the hood...???
That`s right it is a 1972. I have a 1972 Road Runner so I know. The engine is obviously a big block as to what size who knows. The front grill has been changed to a 1971 grill.
My favorite car of the entire series, so far!! Wish it had more screen time!
It sure plays well onscreen!
Same with the FnF7 '70 Road Runner. Was only at the house, at the funeral to the crash, and the cemetary
Agree 👍
As always thanks for binging us the in-depth view of all of these amazing cars. Especially all the ones made of unuptanium. Love the MOPARS!
You’re welcome and I promise there’s more Mopar coming. A lot more 👊
I’m glad you showed this car. That movie made this body style redesign from 70’ to 71’ badass. But for whatever reason to me this body style works for the GTX and Roadrunnner but not the Charger. The Charger looks so much better in their second gen B-body. Keep rolling out the Mopar content man!
More Mopar to come I promise. And I’m with you on this body style. They made it look great and tough.
I agree with the opinion about the Charger but here is my exception to the rule goo.gl/images/dDFDMX
Now that is cool and it belongs to Kenny Wayne?? Even better!
Id divorce my wife for that car.
😂😂
I'd divorce mine for free.
Lol thats too funny
I'd give my house for that beauty.
I'd divorce my single life for The GTX
They really nailed the stance with the stuffed wheel wells, looks totally bad ass. Thanks for showing this one!
I agree. The stance and look is right on point 👊
Thank you for showing more Mopars! Especially the under-appreciated '71-72 b-body!
You’re welcome. They made this one look so cool. Doesn’t have the 5000 hp claimed in the movie but still a badass 👊
B body baby!!! They need to recognize e bodys too tho
Damn that's hot Sean, I'm glad that it's got the Chrysler 383 instead of an LS as that would be sacrilegious to the Mopar gods and make them very angry lol. Think that I mentioned this before but had a 70 383 Roadrunner and like the body style of the 68/70 very best, but that's really cool and still totally awesome. Oddly I've never seen any of the fast movies but just the fact that the car was affiliated with them makes it extra special and will have to start watching some of those. Saw this vid when you published it last week but didn't have time to comment until now, so thanks a lot for a fulfilling the request bud and really do appreciate you taking the time and making the effort to do it👍. PS please keep the Mopars rolling 😊
FINALLY! Someone featured my fav Torettos car from FnF. Thanks!
Have no fear ... you can't hurt that 383 ...
The only thing they missed on this is the Air Grabber...would have been a really cool close-up to see those teeth pop up out of the hood!
Thanks so much for this, love the way this car turned out
Yeah, cool one for sure. Glad you liked it
thank you so much man, this is my favorite car and nobody gives him the respect he deserve
That thing is JUST...GORGEOUS😍😍😍
Glad they kept it Mopar-powered like it should be
The 383 under the 440 badging still urks me tho not gonna lie. Shoulda just used the 383 badge it's F.A.F it's not like we don't expect it to be built beyond recognition. Lmao 🤣
Love that car the 68-72 Roadrunner/GTX/Satellite's looked awesome gotta love a good Mopar.
Shawn of AutotopiaLA, great video and thanks for sharing. It has a great stance and whomever created it for the movie had a great eye to make it look slick and interesting.
Thanks and yeah, very cool. Built by Dennis McCarthy and his crew at Vehicle Effects
Thanks for posting that. I loved the car in the movie soo much, I just bought a Roadrunner to convert into that car! I even bought a 1970 Charger to emulate another car from the series. Looking forward to building them for some fun driving in California.
Just to get things clear y'all the motor in the fast 8 Plymouth gtx is a Chrysler 383 big block, not a chevy 383 stroker. All chevy 383 strokers orginally start out as a 350 small block and would still be considered as a small block even after putting a slightly modified 400 crankshaft in the block allowing the pistons to travel at a longer distance hence the name stoker. This also allows a chevy 383 stroker to get anywhere between 400-450 horsepower. The distributor on a chevy motor sits at a 90° angle on the rear of the motor right behind the carburetor. However, a Chrysler 383 big block, the distributor sits towards the front of the motor at a 45° angle.
Nothing can touch American muscle, I'd still wanna drive it, its a dream car, d divorce my wife for that car. kkkkkkkk😆
My dream car too
I had the pleasure to watch them film this in downtown cleveland as we were working on a construction site
As a guy who loves car videos this is my favorite channel on the internet.
Great video. I really love that shifter. Listening to it as you were going through the gears was awesome.
Very cool all around. Especially driving one of the cars we’ve all seen in Fast 8
Funny how the in the movie they speculate the horsepower in the 1000s to 5000 hp which is bull clearly lmao
Yep😂 But it’s still cool
Dynoids It’s a movie
Trying to catch up on the vids... like 2 behind?? Awesome, I appreciate how you not only have the inside connection, but you get to show us. Yes, I would drive a football field in ANY picture car. Thanks as always buddy!!!
Glad you caught this one. Always fun to drive these cars we’ve seen in movies. Even if it’s only a couple hundred feet of driving. 👊
Spokesman for all car guys!!
Thanks bro 👊
The Gtx looks amazing and the it became my dream car.
With a little love this will be a badass again soon
Love the videos, keep them coming!!!
I’ve been wanting to see an in depth video of this one! Thanks!
Glad you liked it Cody. Fun to shoot. Wish we could’ve driven it for a while though.
Hell ya one of my all time favorite cars keep up the good work love the vids
Awesome and thank you!! Lots more to come including more Furious cars.
Definitely the best 72 Runner I've ever seen .. Thanks for sharing 👍. Cheers for all the Mopar love buddy.😉.
Glad you liked it. Cool piece of history for sure
Congratulations Great work Fantastic Cars
like you said most Chevrolet engines are cheap but that 383 is the most reliable engine that Chrysler exactly put out and I got the power to it so
Beautiful
Fast and Furious is what made me live muscle from the Grand National GNX to this GTX to the Impala super sport in F8
3 things that any Chrysler owner knew in the muscle car era.... they went like hell in a straight line, DO NOT try and turn left or right at speed AND for god's sake.... from any speed higher than 40mph, give yourself at LEAST 100yds to come to a complete stop (Or get REALLY good at J-turns and/or steering via the pedal on the right!! LOL) Awesome video Shawn
And make all those even worse with a picture car! They need to get the shot and that’s it. Thank god for the cage and added to support.
Now that is a classic muscle car.
All the way
That’s a beauty
AWESOME!!!
When you said you could only go a block, I thought “Make it count!!!” 😆 Great video!!!
Yeah, wish we could’ve driven it more but still very cool to drive such an iconic car
Greetings from New York City, love the Fast and Furious! Great vlog brother
Thanks and hello!! Shooting another Furious car today.
@@AutotopiaLA Can't wait to see the next one.
After a real shity phone call with my lady, I hopped on my RUclips feed and see what you have done sir, and I thank you 😎 now all is right with the world again! Thanks for the upload 👍🏾👍🏾
Sorry about the call and glad we made your day a little better 👊
Sexiest Mopar of All Time imho. I remember when I was a kid it was what made me fall in love with the black and white (Police Cruisers ) Also the short lived TV show " CHASE " had a Sick version of this too, back in the day.... My Dream Mopar 😎
Great Job Shawn, Thank you 🙏🏼Stay Blessed🖖🏼
Very nice , glad to see it not in bone yard, like so many other 1 s
Looks sweet, and yas I would luv to even move it in the building from park spot to park spot.. you no it... :)
Always great content. Awesome GTX and gone to good owners
Yes yes and yes!! This was a fun shoot even with barely driving it.
what beautiful car
The shifter is a gated type drag race shifter, it's designed so you don't accidentally move more than 1 gear and especially don't shift into neutral or reverse
Yep 👊
Love the look as well
👊
Would love to see some more F&F cars on here if possible. Always loved that green Gran Torino and the Monte Carlo from Tokyo Drift.
More to come I promise. Don’t know about the two you mentioned here but more F&F cars to come I promise.
Confession time, I've never seen more than 5 minutes of a Fast and Furious movie on T.V. I watch until an actor butchers car terminology then I swear at the television and walk away. LOL !
Also looks like a 72 Roadrunner with a 71 grille.
Good looking car, I'd definitely drive it.
They’re fun movies. You really have to just go with it cause there’s a lot you could pick apart.
@@AutotopiaLA I know, I'm too critical of any car movies. I'm a picky bastard ! LOL
I hate when people mix 71 and 72 parts on a roadrunner
I get it but you gotta love the stunts they pull off in these movies.
Picture cars
I gotta say out of all the muscle cars from the movies, this one is my favourite. The entire setup from the colors to the style this is definitely a beast of a vehicle. This is the very reason why I do love to see Dom drive cars other than Dodge cars.
Lindo lindo aqui no Brasil não encontramos um desse top top...👏👏🇧🇷
Thanks for doing the GTX, mopar.
You’re welcome. Hard to not go for a real drive but it was awesome being in that car!
Great review!! I gave a sub 💪💪
mean car and i agree movie cars are great and most importantly its history. great job.
primo
Hreat Vid, glad to know what a picture car is after all these years of morning cars getting smash up. Yaaaalp drive it.
i love this !
Yeah man, it’s a good one for sure
I would love to have on of those. They look beautiful
Tito Gaming 👊
Been wondering where this car has been!
Here it is
You did just make the video of my favorite muscle car......wish I could make my own subtle modifications to this car !!! GTX......Cheers !!!!
Awesome!! When the new owners get it back to Germany it’ll get put together properly (not picture car) and will be driven.
@@AutotopiaLA That would be brilliant !!!!
Cool car dude
Never saw the movie but I love the car!
In the movie it had something like 5000 hp 😂 Cool car for sure
You did it man! Thank you, wow I need this car. 😍❤️💪🏻🇺🇸
And yeah.. most of these views are going to come from me.
😂😂 you’re welcome bro and more to come I promise. More Mopar. More Furious cars. More!
Literally my dream car!!! The exact one. Lol
I always put Mustang as a cool good guy and the Charger as a badass outlaw and now this is to me would be the little brother of the outlaw.
Love this car ❤❤❤❤❤❤
My dream car as a kid in the 70's 👍
Awesome😍
The year is 1972, the rear bumper and marker lights are not interchangeable with 1971. The 1972 Roadrunner did option with a 400 big block which is a 383 bored out with lower compression. There was a GTX option 1972 with just over 400 units made. This is what drove to high school.
My computer screen thanks you for this not having an LS swap....
😂😂 I get it 👊
damn u always shoot my favorite cars
Cool! Hopefully we keep doing that. Lots more to come I promise 👊
I'd absolutely jump at the opportunity to drive the GTX
Cool car
THANK YOU ( AutotopiaLA SHAWN DAVIS ) GREAT VIDEO
You’re welcome Jihad!! 👊
The 71 GTX is my all time favorite car love the front end style. It’s big and bad.
he is the man the powerful man who needs a husband if u have plymouth
That steering wheel is very similar to the stock 70 wheel that came in my 70 se challenger little smaller but a stock looker
I mean, it's just nice to have to sit in and take pictures all day of yourself. I mean, those tires are so wide. I love the back ass of that car so nice.
I’d drive it .. but with a hellcat Swap or proper 440
Either would be great
Hellephant 👍🏾💪🏾💪🏾🤘🏾
Yes!!
AutotopiaLA I’m building a 440 Dodge Dart
Nothing wrong with a 383, I have on in my 68 Road Runner, built up but a reliable street driver...I put 110,000 miles on it since the 1990's..The 383 runs 11.86@119 mph in the 1/4 mile ! Car has 727 trans,3.55 8 3/4 rear axle ratio ! Reliable, starts all the time and drven hard, not a day goes by when I drive it that I dont floor it and burn rubber,it does huge burn outs from 20 mph roll ,no brake holding needed ! I used this car to tow m 68 Charger RT to the shop and other cars around that I bought, yes these cars can tow over 5000 pounds !
I have a stock looking 68 Charger RT with a 535 stroker(440 engine) I ran 10.03 @134 mph ! 535,727 and a 3.23 gears ! Looks stock in/out even the engine for the most part is stock looking..I also have a few more 68-79 Chargers with 512,505 and my 69 Charger RT 440 Magnum stock ran 12.80's with original never rebuilt engine, bigger carb and headers again 3.23 gears, owned that since 1978..I have a Super bee with a 512 400 based engine and a Charger with a 512 based on a 440 !
No need for Hellcat etc swaps as it time consuming and expensive...any Mopar engine can make loads of reliable power...Yeah,I have a Hellcat Challenger and it is slower than 5 of my 67-71 Mopars ! I ran a 10.89 in my hellcat !
Stock 383 ran mid 13's,add carb, headers you can get into the 12's...change the valve springs etc..do the heads, cam and well, high 11's...I plated with 383's and 440's my whole life, reliable and extremely powerful ! Ensure you doi it right, many guys since the 80's made their cars slower with mis matched heads, cam, carb and they ran slower times than a 318 2bbl !!
Thanks for info
👊
Increíble un Plymouth GTX del año 1971 increíble
Super car 😍
Impressive muscle car!
Agreed...this is a legend
it still is a nice car i would love to have one of them....
I actually have a 72 satellite and access to a 383, honestly recreating this with just that wouldn’t be too difficult. I don’t like the “GTX” that they built too much, but it’s still my favourite body style.
Also, the Mickey Thompson’s are a really good choice for the 71’s / 72’s.
Edit: They should’ve kept the 72 grille, looks a lot more badass in my opinion.
You have a 72 but still didn't notice that also is a 72?
@@felixlindholm201 I said the Mickey Thompsons looked good on that body style / year of roadrunner, sorry to confuse you buddy.
Badass🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Agreed 👊
I love how the car looks and if someone gave it to me, I'd take it and build it to be legit.
Love the car would jump at a chance to drive it that short drive
That’s what I said.
I would love to drive this car
The GTX was the limited 440 model road runner....dodges are great but driven hard they start blown valve trains apart...and the 383 is ten grand for a rebuild versus LS3 crate motor 5000 bucks ready to drop
A beautiful Car 🔝🔝🔝❤️❤️❤️👍
Agreed and I love how it played in the movie
no he is handsome
Love the car.
It’s a cool one
I don't really like Muscle Cars, but this actually looks like a damn good car.
Me and my brother had a 71 Roadrunner when we were 13 14 years old I would drop my brother off at work and I would drive that thing all over Phoenix I would turn the corner it took everything that wore out three Eighteen with a Holley 750 double pumper on it just to chirp the tires LOL just remember there are no boundaries in life just the ones you make for yourself keep killing it bro love you Channel
Great story!! Thanks for the compliments on the channel. Lots more to come I promise 👊
You sure you didn't have a Satellite coupe instead? Standard motor in the 71 Roadrunner was the 340
@@FirebirdCamaro1220 not shure it was our first car we paid a 100 $ for it it was just fun
Id get it titled so fast haha id definitely swap the engine tho but I wouldn’t LS Swap it but id definitely drop a 440 or something this cars honestly beautiful and if i had the money I definitely would’ve jumped at the opportunity to buy it
