OMG - I am 57 years old and have always had trouble with numbers - give me more than two or three and they start looking like a foreign language! I can't believe I did these and got them all right on the first go!!! You have a new subscriber for life!
This is awesome. One reason this is easier to do mentally is because it's left to right. I just don't know why schools make learning math so hard. Thank you for making this video.
I homeschool and I’ve discovered that this is how our child naturally does math…. Which is NOT how I do it. So rather than forcing the kid to do it my way, I’m trying to learn how to do it their way… so thank you! This helps.
wow. i think its great you recognized your child's learning pattern. It is not easy for most teachers to recognize each student's learning pattern. Since you have, you can amplify his strengths and make his learning faster and efficient.
I struggled with Maths at school, but I found out that I could do xtra quick mental addition, a lot of the time in less than your 5 second set time limit. I enjoy your videos, especially the more complicated mathematical aspects. I'm 55 years old and heading to night school with a passion. Keep up the good work.
Never was a great at maths. Really like your videos and honestly the best part is how excited you are about Maths. Anyone will always be miles more interesting if they have a fascination with what they are discussing. People who are truly passionate about their subjects make for great listens.
I could not go as fast as you, but this made so much more sense to me. I am almost 74 and never do any math. I’m going to practice. I love this channel. Thanks. 👍🏻
At face value this seems trival but it is genius. Been spending the morning doing calculations. Why did we ever learn to do it 'backwards'. Brilliant!!
I'm prepping for a very important test that involves mental calculations on the fly with the stress of a very tight time limit. Knowing those tricks, and having some time to practice them, makes me feel way more confident on my ability to nail it. Thanks for all you videos.
I like your videos and am finding them very helpful so far, thank you. I just wish these kinds of videos wouldn't be like "Do it in 5 seconds." As someone who struggles to keep letters and numbers straight in my head I am a bit slower than some people, especially while learning. When I feel pressure to do math in a very short time limit and fail to solve the problem within that time it makes me feel bad. Instead of feeling good for learning something new and trying, I feel bad for not doing it "good enough" or "as good as everyone else". I mean in this video you ask if we did it in 5 seconds and actually say you are "disappointed" if we didn't. Ouch! But on the plus side, your videos actually tech the stated subject in an understandable way, thanks again.
I learned something so valuable in the matter of minutes and watching this video helped me big time in adding big numbers without the use of any calculator, thank you for sharing us this helpful strategy!!
Thank you for clearing my doubt sir , hope you reach 2 million subscribers sir and get more famous than others Keep sharing tricks I m your new subscriber for life time
Thank you for this… as a kid I suffered from autism and adhd. I always try my best and calculate massive numbers in my head which my friends are astonished by but small numbers are tricky, after watching your video it’s helped me out a lot
It is so frightening how effective this is compared to the method I was taught system. How many kids would have blazed through these simple processes that were hampered into thinking they were bad at math.
I am in 6th grade and I do the same (I made it up by myself and have used this for 3 years) except I don't add it as in like 423 would turn into 400, 20 and 3. I do 4 remembering 2 places on the right then 2 then 3. For example 546+327+4878= ignore the 4 in 4878 for now. 8+5+3= 16 then do the tens. 4+2+7= 13 so add the 1 in 16= 17 (this makes 13 3 instead) Ayways, the last digits add up to 21 so add 2 to 3 which equals to 5. Now go back to the thousands. Since there is a 2 digit number in the tens' place (16) you add the 1 to 4. The answer, therefore, will be 5731. However, I love your videos!
For the first time, this is one I kinda worked out how to do myself, especially when I'm running around the house with a tape measure. (A normal tape measure, not a feet and inches one, even though in the US. Stuffing around with base 12 and base 10 at the same time does my head in. If you have a trick for that, I'd love to hear about it, especially for all the crazy fractions of inches that the US system forces people to use!)
First example:My route to the answer was....600+637-11=1226. Also with the other examples I'll round some numbers a few....and add or distract those few at the end.
If I saw your videos like 5-7 years ago, my life would have been so different and good today. now I hate my math's teachers even more! You're the best! 🎉
its easier to go from right to left and always add the numbers above each other. you will only have to write down the final answer. if two numbers add up to over 10 you simply put a 0 if its 10 (a 3 if its 13 and so on) and add the 1 to the next number on the left
Bruh aint no way im 19 and I really had to come back an relearn 3rd grade math for my ASVAB cuz all we used in middle and high school was calculators😭😭
There is 1 more way Lets say 76 + 87 Now add 8 and 7 So we will get 76 + 87 15 Now add 7 and 6 and write in this manner 76 + 87 15 13 Now add vertically So in the first tow 1 will stay as it is in the hundreds place. Then 5+1 will give us 6 as the tens digit And last number 3 will stay as it is So answer is 163 ☺ This is a STAIRCASE method where you write the tens digit of the sum of the numbers on the right below the ones digit of the sum of the numbers on the left So we go from left to right ☺
It’s the same method as techmath. You are keeping track of the place with empty space. Techmath is keeping track with zeros. I use your method too. Also, techmath is going slower when adding to show the work.
I don't actually like that method, because you have to work with big numbers. I prefer to do addition right to left as usual while adding numbers to tens and remaining. That way I can just memorize digits instead of working with a giant number. In that case, you don't need to recall a digit to the left every time. Thank you for your content, I really loved almost every of your methods.
Ya know this really is so much more simple for some reason or other school seems to think that adding steps and going backwards had some kind of benefit well you know the insanity of humanity
This is genius. I wish I'd had a teaxher that showed howneasy it was z instead of making maths into some kind of mystical club, to which, I, obviously, didnt belong 😂

Thanks Shelly.
The same here!

No way! This is actually sick, thank you so much, sir, for making this video, so simple, fast, and nice!

Thank you so much for improving me!
You are the best. I wish I had a teacher like you in secondary school. I am in my mid forties and you are the reason why now my maths has improved 🙂
This is such a great help since it will be my first time tutoring math.
Thank you for these neat tricks sir! I’m homeschooled, and this helps a ton! 😁👍🏿👍🏿
Best channel on RUclips!!! Thank you, good sir! Amazing!
Thanks mate.
This trick is super awesome 👌.
Thanks tecmath🙂.
Loved this trick bro, always a joy to see you explaining it so clearly and understandable, excellent job bro!
Thanks
Thanks. After a long time you've posted this video this is when I realised you can do it with your method. Truly an easy method. Thanks again.
I like your videos and am finding them very helpful so far, thank you.

This is a brilliant video while in lockdown, very enjoyable
You should be head of maths for the whole of Australia and UK. This is fab! Thank you so much. You also deserve a knighthood and an AO.

How are small numbers different than massive numbers
This is a good one thanks.
this is a great trick, thank you for sharing
Thank you

Wow thank you !
Thank you!

this was crazy helpful thank you!
bravo you made my life easier , i am preparing for competitive exam and its like a boon for me
Good one, works great!
I am in 6th grade and I do the same (I made it up by myself and have used this for 3 years) except I don't add it as in like 423 would turn into 400, 20 and 3. I do 4 remembering 2 places on the right then 2 then 3.

However, I love your videos!
I came upon this on my own. It's how I always add.
Good to hear. Thanks for watching.
I learned the right to left method, but as an adult (currently 46 and probably for the last 25 years), I've been doing math from left to right.
Brilliant!
Gm! Awesome brain massager. Thku!
Good technique 👍🏾
hey mate, that definitely slaps, cheers for that
I intuitively always did it that way, and always thought I'm sort of doing it wrong... because school taught me otherwise...
Thx! 🙂
Same lmao
Out standing
I love this. Gonna teach my kids❤
Hey are you considering covering calculus tricks soon?
For the first time, this is one I kinda worked out how to do myself, especially when I'm running around the house with a tape measure. (A normal tape measure, not a feet and inches one, even though in the US. Stuffing around with base 12 and base 10 at the same time does my head in. Can you make a vedio on how to solve subtraction sum fast
I wish you were my math teacher when I was a kid
OMG thank you!!
Have you ever covered the math puzzle where you use three identical numbers to make six? I know it uses factorials, but those are easy once explained.
First example:My route to the answer was....600+637-11=1226.
Also with the other examples I'll round some numbers a few....and add or distract those few at the end.
If I saw your videos like 5-7 years ago, my life would have been so different and good today. now I hate my math's teachers even more!
You're the best! 🎉
Nice👍🏿
Your videos are very helpful! It makes me angry that they are teaching us in a way that makes us stupid by design.
banger trick.
You're amazing
Either way works, although I usually go left/right in my mind.
Awessome👍👍trick
I can't keep track of what number I had before the next column haha! That takes practice!
its easier to go from right to left and always add the numbers above each other. you will only have to write down the final answer. if two numbers add up to over 10 you simply put a 0 if its 10 (a 3 if its 13 and so on) and add the 1 to the next number on the left
I guess its cannon now.
Bruce is our math tutor.
Bruh aint no way im 19 and I really had to come back an relearn 3rd grade math for my ASVAB cuz all we used in middle and high school was calculators😭😭
There is 1 more way
Lets say 76
+ 87
Now add 8 and 7
So we will get 76
+ 87
15
Now add 7 and 6 and write in this manner
76
+ 87
15
13
Now add vertically
So in the first tow 1 will stay as it is in the hundreds place. Then 5+1 will give us 6 as the tens digit
And last number 3 will stay as it is
So answer is 163 ☺
This is a STAIRCASE method where you write the tens digit of the sum of the numbers on the right below the ones digit of the sum of the numbers on the left
So we go from left to right ☺
That is a good method. Thanks!
It’s the same method as techmath. You are keeping track of the place with empty space. Techmath is keeping track with zeros. I use your method too.
Also, techmath is going slower when adding to show the work.
Looking at how much more simple this is, why than do they teach students to add from right to left?
You are the bob ross of maths
There's a better way to do it very fast, though it's a bit silly. So for example 784 + 321 = 784 + 16 + (321 - 16) = 800 + 305 = 1105.
You are my champ 🤭♥️😂
Start sir
I don't actually like that method, because you have to work with big numbers. I prefer to do addition right to left as usual while adding numbers to tens and remaining. That way I can just memorize digits instead of working with a giant number. In that case, you don't need to recall a digit to the left every time. Thank you for your content, I really loved almost every of your methods.
Thanks for your comment. That is the beauty - that you can choose what you prefer and what works best for you. Stay well.
Oh God I still do what I got called out for in 7th grade. I do it only slightly different, but just as fast/ effective. And I'm 59 😄
Thanks tho it took me a while to get it
Ive done this since I was very young
I can count quicker in my head the original way
me too. it just extra steps this was
I still need the steps, please.
As my abuelo used to say : easy for you , difficult for me .
Wow I was struggeling with 56+89 before this video
old fashion is better for me on this one
This did not work for me :( I kept mixing the place value
if only they taught this in elementary, my life would be so much easier
Dude you sound like Thor!
Or is just me?
That has been said! I definitely don't look like Thor!
Heck. I can't count to twenty if my shoes are on
Start
For me, the old method works better the more numbers need to be added up.
for those who watch minecraft bedwars content why do he sounds like gamerboy80
Hey
He sounds so much like CodeBullet
I just cant think that fast!!
Are you gonna do a face reveal
My whole life has been a lie 🤥
