This looks great!! Just what I need to my old machine I'm not sure I'll find a buttonhole foot for. I'm gonna try this tomorrow. Edit: It works really well! I do have to go slow or I'll wobble the stitch lines.
I use an unpicker to slice through my button holes and place a pin at either side to stop the unpicker from slicing through the ends! Thanks, great video - I have your book!
Hello, I'm a beginner and I have a question ... would it be best, then, to just avoid trying to obtain an automatic buttonhole foot and do it all the time with the regular one? Thank you for the lovely video!
You make it look so easy, but I'm pretty sure I'm gonna have nightmares about buttonholes tonight! Then tomorrow, I'm taking the dang vest to someone who knows what they're doing!!!
I'm a beginner and trying to do a standard button hole. I couldn't tell how you go from the left to right or top of button hole. Can you slow it down for the beginners😃
You can change the playback speed of the videos. For me its in the top right of the screen. Adjusting the stitch length of the zig zag stitch will control how fast the fabric goes through the machine. Set it kind of low so you get some thread in there. Its tricky for me - I seem to either sew too little or to much 😮
But what if you want to change from a 4 mm stitch to a 6 mm (to accommodate a 3/8" wooden button) stitch on a sewing machine that is only has a regular boot using a only one bar keeping in mind of course that the zigzag function isn't working. The other problem is that this bloody Simplicity model 237 machine is out of date and I can't find the user manual. Can anyone provide any help on hand sewing button holes straight away? I should think it's not that difficult really.
You just saved my life
@Beau Jamie Definitely, been using instaflixxer for since november myself =)
A perfectly edited video on the subject. And English too.
Exactly what I was looking for.
Thank you.
I just enlisted help for this because I got stuck, and this popped up. Thank you so much!

Rosie I use surgical scissors to cut my buttonholes. They work great! Actually, they may be nose hair trimmers 🤔
Just love your work I'm dialed in my hands both but love to look at things I use to do. Happy Halloween to everyone
Oh, awesome! I have a singer, but I have no idea where my buttonhole foot went, (in the process of remodeling). This is so much easier!
maywenearedhel Stupid buttonhole foot with the Singer is not big enough for large buttons anyways!
that's why I'm here too, I left the button hole foot unused for so long I misplaced it
Check the top compartments ladies!! I found mine :) lol

Wow that was simple
Thank you for the tutorial! What sort of foot is that? I'm having trouble because I can't see what's happening under my regular foot!
Wow. V much needed video. Great. Thanks
How can you reinforce a button hole that's become loose & the button comes out easier than it should?
What if you put in interfacing before you stitch the button?
@@NomNomm6063 I'm such a newbie, I'll definitely have to google "interfacing" 😆
Thank you for the Tip !

Great... Where can i purchase the buttonhole chisel?
Won’t the material in the middle fray? How can you tell if you have enough thread for the length of the hole?

How do you take off the buttonhole foot once you're done?
So does an exacto knife or stitch ripper
French seam
