This episode is legitimately hysterical - love that the writers didn’t take themselves too seriously and allowed the cast to have a silly time. I also love the added cartoony sound effects haha!
@@rogerjoseph2532 I agree. This one was the best. I liked it better than The big Valley, liked it better than the Rifleman. Like you said, it's the best.

Brilliant episode, very funny, the way Adam looked at his father the whole time was so hilarious. Those brothers are awesome, loved it. Certainly don't get such great shows like this anymore.
This whole episode was hilarious, and when Ben saw the wanted poster, and hit the Sheriff's desk with his hand, ouch. And when Ben gave Little Joe the boss's shoes, it was obvious some shenanigans were coming. 😂🤣
Especially in Virginia city, Hoss shading hie eyes under his Huge hat , between hi girth and hat everyone knew it was HOSS Cartwright playing detective! LOL 😆.
I'm binge-watching all of Bonanza's episodes and I've enjoyed every single one that I have watched so far. Thank you Grjngo for posting the videos. Warm hugs from Katrinka San Francisco Bay Area ❤️🌴
Looks like you can’t even comment without negative feed back from some of the other people. Anyways I’m a fan and will continue to support this channel. Thanks for uploading!
I am always impressed by how clean these old west people were. Finely fitted and freshly laundered clothing, there must have been several Chinese dry cleaner businesses in Virginia City
Ben told little Joe to in charge the Ponderosa during Ben & Adam away from home . Ben told Adam that he expected Joe could develop his sense of responsibility . But we could see from Adam 's facial expression that he didn't think so. Adam thought that Little Joe might cause trouble. Very funny, little Joe, Adam knew Little Joe very much, 😂😂😂
This episode came out right about the time that Shotgun Slade was at the height of its popularity. I wonder if that is what inspired the jazz score in this one.
"Won't negotiate? Negotiation is the backbone of our civilization. FORCE him to negotiate!" I see this guy was in charge of American/Japanese relations circa 1853
That first scene was written by someone that knows of the Rothschild family. And that guy has a look and flat of Satan. Very fitting, and accurate scene. Now, on with the rest of the episode.
Owen Bush played the Bank manager in Virginia City. He was also in "The Andy Griffith Show." Walter Burke played the rich little man (he was only 5'1" tall in real life) with the Irish accent. He was also in an episode of "Hogan's Heroes."
I love the Geech books written by Jerry Bittle. He is such a funny character. He told his boss Merle, who owned the garage where Geech works that he and his friend liked to play cowboys and idiots when they were kids. He went into a store and asked if he could use their restroom and the man told him that he was sorry, that they didn’t have a public restroom. Geech told him that was okay because he liked the ones with little doors on them anyway. 😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅
In spite of "Hollywoodness" Ben Cartright's a good example of a prosperous person who's well balanced. I know this is a hooky episode by today's standards, but greed still seems to rule the world and I have a feeling there's a spiritual element that will show itself soon to the world.
An early episode, easily dated by the clever score, which includes a take-off on the Dragnet theme, and the Philip Morris commercial! Also, the plot was pretty thin compared to the more meaty material of the later years. Good though, thanks!
A great funny episode from Bonaza, when Little Joe & Hoss Cartwright have to be ready by themselves but Pa Benjamin Cartwright & Adam Cartwright have to deal with them. ( Alia Mohammed & Cassandra Fox are getting into trouble 😵💫 & deal with Isabella Sampourni & Sadie Marquardt.)
I really liked this episode. And I especially loved the way Ben handled the situation. I would be the same way with my boys. A father can only believe his sons if the sons tell the truth. But once If I did find they were being dishonest their would be hell to pay. That's what you call good honest parenting. Especially since they were supposed to be minding the Ranch.
This was one of the best western shows going from 59 to 73 or so and still love them today
So enjoyable. Little Joe to Hoss, 'When was the last time you washed your hair?' Hoss, "Last month.'
with sheep dip!
I guess hygiene was not uppermost in people's minds back then.
No wonder they boiled a baby's everything!

Its a shame they don't make quality, wholesome westerns like this anymore. Loved this show as a kid, still love it today.

They try to make westerns with cars in it. I can watch it.

So fiendish, I love it :D caught me off guard too
Poor Hoss, he knows nothing good can come from that look.

It was so hilarious that they got their ass whipped by the skinny old guy for stealing the mules. That cracked me up. 🤣
@Richard Branam. Yeah. I noticed that Adam thought right away that leaving Little Joe in charge was a huge mistake. This episode was hilarious!! 😅
It was hilarious. And preposterous.
B.C. hit the sheriff's desk on cue. But he so did it harder than he expected too!
Sometimes these episodes reveal reality- heart and actions of bankers.
I truly enjoyed this episode!! Mr. Cartwright is a straight up man.
Loved the dragnet type music they played when Hoss was standing watch outside the bank.
And the Tom and Jerry music too.
Detective Joe Cartwright proved he was well on his way to grow up to become Detective Joe Friday.
Omg same! I thought i was the only one that recognized!

Would have loved to have the wanted poster with hoss and little Joe's faces on it. Great stuff and I love all the comments. Peace
Love how the writers of this show turned a dirty, rotten trick into a comedy. 😍
This show always points out that crooks come in all shapes and sizes. From the rambling malcontent to the organized robber barons.
The
That's what sets Bonanza apart from other westerns. They don't depend on shooting, killing, and fist fights. Comedy is a great change .
I remember back in the 80s. Watching reruns with my whole family.❤
I loved the part when Ben saw the wanted posters and music when the camera zoomed in on it and when he hit hand
When Little Joe tells Hoss to whitewash the barn, I think that is an interesting term for painting. Old school is the only school. 🖌
I loved how they played the Dragnet theme or part of it. Very funny
Hoss :"Hey Joe ! what are you, what are doing?
Joe : Ah, robbing a bank.Well come on, we're in this together. 18:37 😅😅

Everytime Little Joe smiles I can't help but picture Jim Carreys impression of him.
Hoss and Little Joe likely got whooped from one end to the Ponderosa and back after this was over

The dollar amounts used in Bonanza seem totally out of whack. A thousand dollars for a bull? That would be around 23 thousand dollars today.
