  • Fresh off the heels of their latest single release, Die Alone, we’re joined by Silverstein frontman Shane Told. With over 2 decades of touring under his belt, Shane gets into the process behind writing the band’s 10th studio album, Misery Made Me, and how the pandemic derailed their 20th Anniversary tour back in 2020.
Shane also reveals the inspiration behind his hit podcast, Lead Singer Syndrome. We discuss the toll alcohol can have on your voice, and what steps Shane takes to alleviate those issues while on the road. We also get into the difference between using real and digital sounds while in the studio, and what Shane thinks some bands today are missing when it comes time to lay down tracks in the studio.
We also learn on this episode:
    • Shane’s favorite hobbies away from music
    • Why Las Vegas may become a giant sports hub
    • What Shane’s worst interview experience was
    • If the Will Smith / Chris Rock slap was real or fake

26:20 Learned this lesson years ago. Was doing my first interview with an artist (Matt from Mudvayne) along with a friend/colleague. We both brought some questions and were trading off. Mine were all about music and touring. My friend started asking about more personal stuff and he and Matt got on a long thread about comics and art history that was way more interesting than anything I had asked about. I never forgot that and now if I ever chat with any band members at shows, I always try to steer the conversation away from music and touring to more interesting topics.

Die Alone was heavy, but The Alter I feel is heavier. Definitely destroyed live, that's' for sure! Die Alone was more of a hardcore punk kind of heavy, which is killer in its own right. Side note, Shane was super sick with some awful throat stuff going on when I saw them live and he absolutely killed the show regardless! I think they cut 2 or 3 songs is all, but absolutely gave a strong show. One of the best live I've seen.
