I can't imagine it's that difficult to make head tracking like that, even in World of Warcraft if you click on someone and you move around, your head moves to look at them, additionally, if someone clicks on you and you move, their head will turn to face you. That being said it is a fair point to make that WoW is like one of the biggest mmos in the world and this is a fairly small game afaik.

What makes me upset is that we are getting a movie out of Poppy Playtime, even though the storyline for this game isn't necessarily complete yet. It feels like they're already setting their expectations high on this horror game. Really shows how greedy Mob Games truly are and hopefully one day, Charlie can cover this on his channel.

I love how this game is all about a fun, colorful factory that made things for kids to enjoy and love, but when you peel back the curtain even just slightly, you see how dingy and disgusting the factory is. Reminds me of the founders of this game.
The only thing I know about Poppys Playtime is that I see a lot of cart venues in the city selling bootleg plushies of him. They always manage to sell, too.
You can tell in his voice, especially considering the shady history of the dev team, that Charlie's excitement for this game going forward has tumbled harder than a game of Jenga
Not really, in the end he seems to have enjoyed it more than the first, wich he considered good. Besides he got actually surprised to see how mama long legs died.
Not really? He seemed like he enjoyed it. Plus he watched an old video discussion Poppy Playtime’s shady history which didn’t have much evidence at the time, so he walked away thinking the creators were slightly shady but mostly fine. Unless he’s watched one of the newer ones, he probably still has a neutral/positive opinion on them.
The real scare is the fact that they made the first chapter free, and made the second chapter double the first chapter’s original price. Some real fuckery right there.
To me if you wanna do a chapter based game the first and second should be free. The rest should be 3-5 USD and bonus dlc because. Let's be honest. There gonna do that Should be 20 USD and should include. 5 chapters off the bat
The problem with these cute thing turns scary games is the second the characters start talking and having understandable motives it stops being scary. The thing i liked about the first bit of this game was that the blue guy at the end felt more like a feral beast then a character. Once i saw this stringy doll thing start talking it just lost its scaryness because it lost its mysteriousness and became more predictable. Also the painfully cringy dialogue kills the atmosphere completely.
i do not know anything about this game, but is it even remotely scary? charlie got jumpscares only when he could not complete a puzzle or failed a chase sequence. these are not that scary imo.
From what I do know there is a way better horror game that does this right and is actually fun, I think it’s called puppet neighborhood? It’s a resident evil styled game where you go to a abandoned puppet place and from what I’ve seen it’s actually unsettling
I can’t imagine how they thought they’d make Betty Spaghetti scary and I was not surprised to see “Mommy” isn’t scary at all. I feel like if they wanted her to be scary, they wouldn’t have had her talk at all. Just have her watch the player like the commercial said. You turn and see her duck behind corners or you see her hands slithering up walls. Hear a distant giggle but can’t find the source. You’d walk into traps she’s set for you which could be the games that are already in the chapter and she’s just silently watching you with a blank stare and eerie smile. As you progress, her features change and sharpen as her eyes turn black and she ends up looking more and more dirty and angry as though she’s been abandoned like she was. It seems like it could’ve been interesting if they’d gone a different path instead of the classic “haha I am bright and happy but really, I’m scary and violent! Ooh!”
"I want to be very subversive and have everyone be silent, even though Long legs and Poppi are the only characters that talk and long legs stops talking after she counts to ten." Hello, Rian johnson.
I’d actually enjoy her better if all we heard of her talking were those final lines but all distorted. “He’ll make me part of him!” As she tries desperately to worm her way out of the machine would’ve been far scarier if she hadn’t spoken before it. More of a punch to pack into those few lines, no?
@@moistwrmonastring1017 God. Your imagination and sense of story telling is atrocious. Not everything has to be a silent movie and distorted voices for the "fear'. If you did a silent hill 2 movie, you would make everything silent to "up the scares" because you missed the point of everything in the story and think that creepy silent girl or silent guy is the peak of all horror. The point of longlegs is that she is human and people like you, whom harmed and killed the orphaned kids she raised, is disgusted by everything about you and the fact you get to keep kicking in the outside world long after your pile of sins. Those tests you've done. You were a part of them just by working with the company. You brought these kids near to violent and blood thirsty monsters before turning them into one. It looks like the designers and animators did a great job with what they were told to do, but at a base, core level it looks uninspiring to play and kind of lame, even.
@@Mr_avenger709 I agree I got bored watching Charlie play the game, the only fun part was Charlie lol - The voice acting is amazing, they went all out on making the voices sound as if it's how they feel. The design of the characters and levels are pretty and fit the theme, to me though it just lacks a "what to do". I am biased I find puzzle games that are over puzzle-y than the overall theme a bit boring. This game is just meh to me
The game itself is actually really good though. The story seems interesting, animations and cutscenes well-done, character designs very unique and the over all atmospere was terrifying. At least to me. I feel like most of the people who shit all over the game just don't view the game and higher ups seperately. The higher ups are scummy from what I can see, but that doesn't make the game horrible tho. It's pretty cool, so it's a shame to see.
@@burgerburger7975 I haven’t played it myself admittedly, so I appreciate this opinion. I was probably judging it too hard for someone who hadn’t actually experienced it.
@@burgerburger7975 Same here there’s people constantly shutting on it but I personally don’t see it. The game seems interesting and more a different type of horror where it’s more just simple “oh that’s creepy” type thing
Giving her a voice was the worst creative decision ever... seriously.. it saps all "terror" out of her.. imagine that scene where we first see her, but, instead of a dumb monologue, she slowly spiders her way down, with those eyes (character design was done quite well) and she just stared at the player, uncomfortably before crawling back up... 100x more impactful. Every time she talks I'm just like..... my god, Fnaf did its thing... do your own... there is no reason the damn animatroclnics need to talk... It is what made huggy soo god damn terrifying, a silent giant that you ALWAYS thought was following you. The first time playing poppys is honestly fantastic, the vent scene is really really good. This however, this seems like a downgrade in some ways when it comes to the "fear factor".
I respect your opinion but mommy long legs having a voice does fit her character alot more and it would be pretty useless to have her "take care" of the orphans as she is the role mother for them so her not having a voice would be a turn off and her laugh made her a hundred times more terrifying. But hey this is just my opinion
@@wintermilk I think they could've made her talk less, as I do agree that the voice makes the character more intriguing, but the long ass monologues don't. I hope there's a solid mix of talking and silent characters honestly, cause if the spider dude that they hinted at during this chapter starts talking a lot as well, then it's gonna get stale.
They aren't animatronics, they're living creatures that look like toys (hence the blood that you see around the broken ones). But yeah, she talks a lot.
A lot of women my age grew up with a doll called Betty Spaghetti who the 'mommy' is clearly modeled after. There was absolutely nothing horrifying about betty spaghetti which just makes this character even less so. Also, the fact that she talks more than a middle school principle at a D.A.R.E. assembly doesn't help. That was one thing that was so horrifying about huggy wuggy is he didn't talk, creating confusion as to whether he was a threat or not in the beginning. The mommy long legs would've been scarier if she had a more "mom from Coraline" vibe going on. They really dropped the ball on this chapter with the story line. Chapter 1 had way more potential.
So this chapter is bad because somthing isn’t scary enough there was no confusion is huggy was a threat or not you could clearly know that he was a threat by looking at him there is no point where you see him and is like he isn’t a threat
You're clearly hating on the game just because of the drama. Like, come on, "character isn't confusing enough"? I'm not justifying mob games, but don't unfairly judge the game because of the devs
@@marshmellowguy586 they arent "unfairly judging" the game, they were just giving their opinion on the character. they didnt even mention anything about the devs what are u on about
@@ItsCommanderCookie It’s an unconscious bias, hes right. This game is receiving so much more scrutiny now because of the drama. Before it was just a fun horror game, no one hard focused on the negatives and praised the positives. Now its the opposite, a company widely hated releasing a product will always see that product examined closer for flaws, look at EA.
Another indie horror game that is based around children’s attractions that is designed to do the bare minimum in order to get 14 year old creepy pasta fans to spam about it on social media
my entire instagram feed was populated with huggy wuggy when the first chapter dropped. Fingers crossed it doesnt have the same resurgence. the execs don’t deserve any more popularity
The moment they make the monsters talk all the fear leaves a horror game for me. You were just staring at a pink squiggle stalking on the ceiling for like 1 min and it didn't even kill you. it's way better if they are silent and rarely show up edit: don't delve too much into this guys, it's just my opinion. Id say it's more thriller than horror anyways. I don't think 100% silent characters are better either. whatever you say won't change my mind.
I disagree. The chase scenes with the monster’s twisted moans/yells were haunting. Sure, the “toy turned monster” aesthetic does detract a bit from a horrible monster, you can’t say that the sinister nature of a child’s toy being a murder machine is lessened by it talking. Now if it would only have that happy, motherly tone throughout the entire chapter, then THAT would reinforce your point entirely.
It's because you play this experience like a being that can't die. Seeing a monster be human and trying to get your sense of security is freaky shit, especially when they are cornering you.
@@justice8718 I'm not saying the concept or the monsters themselves aren't inherently scary, just the fact they force exposition from the monsters makes it way less scary. It's why Five Nights at Freddy's got worse as the games progressed. The first was the best as they were just void animatronics trying to kill you.
@@Hephaestus_God nah tbh the voice adds to her scary nature because she was supposed to be a human turned into a monster you can hear her voice being a nice mommy figure type and then suddenly shifts into a monster voice type, the moaning and laughing absolutely terrified me, and also the agonizing scream she did when we killed her in the grinding machine it wouldn't be as scary as it is without the voice acting
I generally think this one is a complete misinterpretation of what made the blue plush scary. It was big, which suggested strength. It was a plush and its legs and arms were long, yet decently girthy looking, meaning despite it not having bones, it could still be decently strong but also nimble. The face itself was pretty monstrous, the teeth looked threatening and the eyes had a vacant stare to them. The lack of dialogue from the guy also sold the idea that this is a monster driven by instinct. Now this mommy one has extremely thin limbs, so the strength aspect is lost. The limbs may be long, but the the previous monster did this way better as they didn't really look like I could just rip them off. The face is also a lot less threatening. And due to her actually speaking, she fits more into the psychopath murderer trope than the instinct driven animal trope, which in todays day and age is a lot more overdone. She feels like a complete downgrade, like they tried to do the same thing again, but they made everything worse. I'm not even passionate about this game, I'm just talking from a character design standpoint.
I feel like mommy could have been modeled to be scarier. She’s scary for sure in the beginning, but her eyes turn black only near the end of this chapter. Her black eyes and laugh make her 10x creepier
Any adult playing this game would probably be bored af. Clearly a game for little kids like five nights at Freddy’s or whatever that one is. Just boring and repetitive with “jump scares”
Fun fact to show how much MobGames cares about their game: There’s a wall that just doesn’t have collision! The whole thing. You can walk straight through it and skip a significant part of the game. (Wall is to the right of the door you open with both hands near the office thing)
The developers seem to be alright people, but the higher ups at MobGames are absolutely horrible. Apparently, staff conditions there are terrible, so that probably explains the state of the game.
@@sinoist742 Yeah, I should probably clarify that I don’t hate the company as a whole, I just hate the company, if that makes any sense like I don’t dislike the employees who are being taken advantage of or whatnot, just how the company presents itself and, well, the people taking advantage of them

he should try out "It Steals", its a horror game where the monster hides from you there are 5 gamemodes overall in the game, and each one has its own unique twist on the core of the game, the monster hides from you. Classic: You must collect shards in a maze as the monster tries sneaking up on you, however there is a chance he might start chasing you instead of hiding when you find him. Look around as you find the shards. Shutter: The same as Classic, however now instead of a Flashlight that can only sometimes start flickering, you have to use a camera which only flashes for a brief moment and has limited battery. If you hear the monster approach you, you must flash him. The monster can also start chasing you in this gamemode, however unlike the classic where you can outrun him, the monster in this gamemode is far too fast, and you must use your camera to temporarily stun the monster for a brief 2-3 seconds. Hide & Seek: The game starts off with "You are it". You must collect the shards yet again and hope that you do not find the monster, who is hiding from you because you are the seeker. When you unfortunately find the monster, it gives you 5 seconds to hide from it. It then proceeds to start searching for you. When it finds you, a chase sequence begins where you must run from a monster so violent it can break through walls just to get to you. Living Walls: Unlike every other gamemode, you start off inside a vault, where the game explains to you that the walls are the enemy, you have a tracker with a timer on it. You must get out of the vault and collect all the shards while being careful of the walls, because some may be a monster and you have no idea other than your tracker beeping when you directly look at one. You must find another vault and hide in it before the timer runs out, otherwise it is a game over. The Phantom: You must collect all the shards while being careful of the invisible monster. You cannot see it, but it also cannot see you. Unlike every other level, this map is filled with furniture like boxes, lamps, etc. The Phantom will flip around all of this furniture looking for you. You are capable of holding your mouth to produce less noise. You also have a special mechanism that can defend you from The Phantom, however it takes quite some time to set up and place.
The graphics in this game are solid. It’s literally everything else about the game/developers/franchise as a whole that’s the problem. Edit: Don’t pile on anyone in the comments. What's annoying is that the game has the potential to be scary and unsettling but the developers are too greedy and are setting too high of Hopes. They're trying to make a movie despite the story barely even being fully done let alone fleshed out, they tried to sell NFTs which was bad enough. They're pulling every greedy dev card especially too early since theres only 2 chapters. On top of that, the second chapter does not enough of too much. Too many minigames but none of it is fleshed out. chapter 2, putting it blatantly, just isnt scary. It feels like the dev team immediately chose the easy way out, opting for merchandise and movies instead of putting work to make the game properly scary. Coming from experience and lowkey personal bias, the game had the capability to be a genuine marvel, but chose to take a mainstream approach which killed any hope of it being scary. Chapter 1 had the foundation, but chapter 2 used almost none of it. They were building a triangle but made a square, if that makes any sense. This happened with bendy and the ink machine if anyone remembers that. It had the ability to be scary but also chose to make it mainstream instead of keeping in niche. Its incredibly disappointing how ch.2 came out. Did too many things at once, greedy devs, isnt scary.
They tryna be FNAF, like every mainstream horror game after FNAF, but it won't work, you can't recreate it, they create the characters thinking about merchandising and selling it for kids, FNAF kinda ruined indie horror games
I like how Charlie is legitimately not scared but when there is a tension situation he immediately tries to do something else or overspeaks, similiar to people going to the comments to not get scared haha.
I really felt bad for mommy long legs, she seemingly was pretty nice to anyone who wasn’t a playtime co. employee, a piece of paper you can collect said she liked the orphans, she liked the other experiments, she just specifically didn’t like the staff, and if matpat is right, that she was an employee who was forcefully turned into a monster by playtime co. that just makes it sad, even a document you can collect tells us her human name, it is Marie Payne if my memory is correct. Edit: apparently some bots have been stealing my comment also this isn’t the first time I have commented this btw.
I really do think this game has its charm, despite it not being scary in the slightest. I completely agree. The aesthetic, atmosphere, and character design are really cool; the executives behind it aren't. Btw I'm not throwing the whole dev team under the bus, only the people who actually did awful things.
@@judesliggoo Where do I even start? 1. They made NFTs that held exclusive lore of the game 2. Despite the game only having two chapters, there’s a crazy amount of merchandise that took FNAF years to reach. 3. They made the first chapter free but still doubled the price of chapter 2 4. They have two RUclips channels that basically have the exact same videos. 5. They have a history of signing on animators into long binding contracts. And worst of all is that one time, a fan who was also an inspiring animator reached out to the producers to collaborate with them. They tried to get him to work exclusively for them but he refused, and they responded by basically making hate videos of his work and encouraging fans to harass him. It got to the point where he had to admit himself to a mental hospital. All the while this guy was still a minor. He also made a game that has a very similar premise to Poppy. I was gonna say something that would separate this comment from the “this is sad they worked so hard on this game” type of comment But I forgot what it was OH WAIT NO I REMEMBER NOW I still have a little bit of hope for this game but I doubt it can turn into something we can all safely enjoy because the only way that could happen is if the founders gave the rights to the game to one of the developers but the whole nft thing just says that they’re (unsurprisingly) doing this for money and if the game fails and they can’t have that money then no one can
I don't see how you could say you don't like the developers, they're clearly good at there job. And they have to deal with much more corporate higher up bullshit then we do. And remember, this chapter came out like 4 months after the first, even if it's only an hour long, that's a very short development period.

I agree. Chapter one showed lots of potential. This one feels too try hard. That's what ruins everything.

The moment they make the monsters talk all the fear leaves a horror game for me. You were just staring at a pink squiggle stalking on the ceiling for like 1 min and it didn't even kill you. it's way better if they are silent and rarely show up
edit: don't delve too much into this guys, it's just my opinion.
Charlie is the only guy who I have seen who can just say “Oh I missed the jump scare, can you do it again?”

he should try out "It Steals", its a horror game where the monster hides from you
there are 5 gamemodes overall in the game, and each one has its own unique twist on the core of the game, the monster hides from you.

I wouldn’t call it outright plagiarism but it is quite suspicious. These guys are greedy scum bags, but everyone else is nice and genuinely talented, including the director himself
@@t.funkthecoolmunk5472 holy shit..
Calling Huggy Wuggy "Poppy" is the new calling Link "zelda"
It is 💀
I was genuinely impressed with the animation in this
The studio has a couple of animation channels like enchanted mob or zaminations, they are as far as i remember for kids, but you can watch them ironically

Its unfortunate for the game that the word "mommy" has been ruined by the internet
Not only unfortunate for the game
Mommy? Sorry.
Pretty sure its on purpose
in a way it works in its favor and i don't mean in the weird way
Oh yeah
12:22 gave me a heart attack. Scariest part of the video. 😭😭😭
18:56 most genuine scare ever
The fact that he doesn't know who huggy is makes this so much funnier
I love how many times he broke the game just because he wasn't scared at all
how does one man miss so many scares in horror games, so consistently?
not that he would've reacted if he DID see them, but still...
It’s really sad
Most of the developers are innocent people and incredibly talented and worked so hard on what would’ve been an incredible game if it weren’t for the founders just being ridiculously shitty people. I like this game I really do but I won’t be buying it.
As someone who try’s (I am embarrassingly bad at the game) to play fnf mods I have learned by now to separate art from the artist.
I was gonna say something that would separate this comment from the “this is sad they worked so hard on this game” type of comment
But I forgot what it was
OH WAIT NO I REMEMBER NOW
I still have a little bit of hope for this game but I doubt it can turn into something we can all safely enjoy because the only way that could happen is if the founders gave the rights to the game to one of the developers but the whole nft thing just says that they’re (unsurprisingly) doing this for money and if the game fails and they can’t have that money then no one can

U could really see the gloss in Charlie’s eyes out of the fear he was having, he really was holding back from shitting himself 🥶🥶
Don't like the developers, but they're at least trying with the game. It actually is quite well done.
The game has its flair, it's just another case of nutcase corporate overlord abuses underlings. Don't blame the devs, blame the owner
I don't see how you could say you don't like the developers, they're clearly good at there job. And they have to deal with much more corporate higher up bullshit then we do. And remember, this chapter came out like 4 months after the first, even if it's only an hour long, that's a very short development period.
I love it when he gets jumpscared and he’s just like “oh man i blew it”
"Huggy Wuggy? Come on, toys can have cool names" do any of my latin american bretheren remember the mythical PIRULIN CACÚ? (closest translation: the Peepee Poopoo)
This chapter is definitely a lot scarier than chapter 1.
The devs have done a great job on the toy animations/jumpscares
Surely they care about this game and aren’t using it just to shill NFTs
You got devs mixed up with executives
They could not possibly thought that by spending time not on the game would it make it good. Surely.
... 🤔 can't tell if my sarcasm meter is broken...
cap
I checked out the director's twitter and he seems cool
Its a shame the company that made this game ruined their reputation so quickly.
I can also tell Charlie didn't really enjoy this game and I can't blame him.
Can say 22:00 - 22:22 was brutal but also entertaining, did not expect blood to come out of her, it was like watching a zit burst open.
“You’re going straight to hell”
*Proceeds to go upwards*
Although the company is sh*t, gotta give props to the developers for actually working on the game.

I will say the developers did such a cool job on the movements. So many current games have the stiff robotic movements but these characters have such different movements and it’s cool to look at. Like Mommy’s design is so cool I wish they did more with it- her movements have the ability to be so creepy. I just like the movements.
Also say what you want that caterpillar scared me I don’t like it’s soulless eyes
Yeah and one of the devs said chapter 3 is going to be so much better quality wise than the last 2 chapters so much so that they might have to completely revamp or remake the previous 2 chapters poppy playtime is just built different in a completely different league it has no competition but alot of the people just can't see it saying it's not scary and clown on it instead of admitting it truly is just good stuff

The puzzle mechanic with the extending arms is actually really cool, but the puzzles are trivial, and the entire setting is just dumb and its honestly just badly made for the most part
