This game is actually more realistic than you think. I used to work at a 24/7 laundry mat and I'm noticing a lot of similarities - Pizza place and hardware/appliance store next door - Weird customers that probably aren't allowed near schools/kids - Secret areas behind the walls - Random moments of pitch black where I zone out and forget what's going on - Attendant that didn't get paid enough to deal with that crap Brings back a lot of memories

I think the funniest thing about the premise is that the protag takes the last bus to the laundromat, so she has no way back that doesn't involve walking all the way home from the ass end of town. She was going to go into that interview sleep deprived as hell, which is way worse than needing extra deodorant.

Honestly the only reason he doesn’t jump or even flinch is because he’s wearing those old cheap ear buds, and it looks like he’s only wearing it in one ear. Horror games depend on sound, if you choose a cheap earbud it’s easy to not be scared, because you can’t hear anything.

I really like the vintage Approach of this game. Maybe it’s just me but for horror games and especially horror movies I think old graphics/quality and sound make it a way more scary experience.
For real. They have a nostalgic feel to them too. The dude at puppet combo is a master at making these games. They all have that retro ps1 style with the vhs filters. It's so charming, yet so rough and gritty.
One thing I will say, it's clear Charlie has never had an apartment in the northeast. Those basement laundry systems are everywhere and look much worse than this

I find it very interesting that specifically horror indie/AA games are sticking to the 5th generational aesthetic. Yooka-Laylee and A Hat in Time are very obviously inspired by classic 5th generation 3D platformers, but they still use a stylized modern aesthetic. In the haunted PS1 demo disc collection there was a 5th generation platformer but that still revealed itself to be a horror game. I suppose it makes cultural sense to associate the 5th generation graphics with horror since that’s when the horror game genre first broke into the mainstream, and also the fact that the mid-to-late 90s were edgy as fuck, but it does seem strange that indie/AA developers that make either RPGs, Adventure games, or platformers tend to stick either to pixel art or modern graphics with little in-between

I think this game is good, but the story seems far too extreme and unrealistic. If they had just spent more time on the story it would be up there with the games I mentioned.

@@kgkomrin that's what made the game so horrifying. such loud subtle sounds stun and confuses you. Like tigers for example. Before they ambush their pray they roar as loud as they can. Basically just stuns the prey for a second or two

Also it’s pretty easy to not get jump scared when you’re looking away from 99% of them. He does it so often at this point that I find it kind of hard to believe it’s just a coincidence.

Like tigers for example. Before they ambush their pray they roar as loud as they can. Basically just stuns the prey for a second or two

@@matiasdiaz8913 ehhh idk, ps1 and Nintendo games, even the ones that weren’t even considered horror freaked me the hell out just because of the graphics and the atmosphere it exuded. As a kid I couldn’t even play some parts nor would I dare play it at night just from the paranoid feeling I’d get when playing it. Mario 64 and Legend of Zelda was one of those games, mainly legend of Zelda 💀

For some reason, the graphics used in this game manage to make it even more unsettling. The graphics and style of this game reminds me of another horror game that I played a while back, called "Afraid of Monsters."
The faces make them appear so empty and unpredictable. It makes you feel uneasy, like uncanny valley stuff.
