    My biological dad was the first boy to reject me. I'll always remeber that. He was the very first boy to break my heart. I don't wish that on any girl. But on the bright side I do have a dad I love with all my heart.

      very interesting comment. I'd like to know: would you say that's instilled a sense of fear inside of you, of being rejected ?

      yoe91 I’d speak from my life and experience. It’s just abandonment issues are prevalent if dad reject a girl. You’ll always wonder if the next man is going to abandon you and if he does, the wound just deepens.

      yoe91 I thought I wasn’t desirable because of him, when I was younger he would be very abusive. Very violent with his words and anger and also rejecting me physically, it seemed like he wasn’t happy being my father.

    I remember when I was younger, I grew up hating my dad because he use to have really bad temper issues. He hasn’t lashed out at me or judged me in years since my depressive breakdown, but that never changed anything. I’m trying my best to keep him in my life, but all I want is for my significant other to treat my future children in a much better state than my dad did.

    I have a close relationship with both of my daughters. With my oldest (18) it's more of a fun and often intense intellectual camaraderie, but with my youngest daughter (13) it's purely emotional. A heartstring attachment that has been there from the beginning. After the divorce three years ago, with my ex getting primary custody and moving away, visiting them became increasingly difficult. I managed a weekend about once a month. My youngest daughter was heartbroken, and soon started exhibiting signs of frustration with the situation. Her academic work suffered, she became violent towards her mother, and tried to run away several times. She became a compulsive liar and theif, and things deteriorated until she was placed in temporary inpatient care at a pediatric mental facility. She is now in outpatient care, but still goes back to the hospital quite frequently. She use to cling to me, constant phone calls, need for reassurances, wishing that she could live with me. Her mother, who has a PhD in psychology, says that her bad behavior is attributable to an Electra Complex and OCD. But I know better. She just misses having a whole family, and me there every day. I can't help but feel guilty everytime she goes back to the hospital. It breaks my heart. I'm here to tell you, a father in a daughter's life, with support and love, is absolutely essential to their development as women. Dont ever neglect them. Stay in touch even when you think they dont need you. It makes all the difference.

      This is so hard to read. I'm sorry for what happened to your daughter but I'm sure that she will grow up feeling loved by you. My father gave up on me when I was 2 years old, he has been ignoring my existence for 20 years. I'm 23 now and can't have a relationship with a man because experience with my father left me feeling undesirable and undeserving of love. If he had just talked to me through the phone, told me that he loved me and cared about me... that would be enough. So even if you can't physically be with your daughters all the time, please just be sure they know that you care. It's enough they will be thankfull later. You are an amazing dad!
      P.S. sorry for my english, It's not my first language

    All you need to know is that a girls father is the first male in her life who she loves more than anything. Losing him has a profound impact on the rest of her life.

  • @krissannecattrell7196
    @krissannecattrell7196 8 лет назад +94

    A loving, engaged male role model for girls offers them a reference point for what a "good man" is like. Conversely, a lack of such leaves girls to "figure it out on their own" through trial and error dating. I was raised with a stepfather who was Satan incarnate. I had no idea what a "good man" was really like until I met my husband, 21 years ago. I went through heaps of troubled men before that. Knowledge is power and this is the kind of knowledge all young children deserve.

    It’s not easy being the Father of teen daughters. You spend their whole life trying to instill values and protect them but they always find a way to go against what’s expected.. Fathers are under tremendous stress and are the only group of people that do not get a pass when they have an emotional moment of weakness. If anyone other than a Father gets emotional, they are comforted and embraced.. not Fathers..

    now our son, total opposite...everything I'd a challenge, we challenge each other and butt heads constantly, I accuse my wife of babying him and making him soft (again I've been working on it and trying to do better)...that said the FUN I have with my son is something I never have with my girls...wrestling, going to sporting events, the things I teach him about life and the way he looks to me like I have all the answers (I mean I don't know shit, but in his eyes I'm the one that knows it all)...it's a totally different feeling but both amazing

    A daughter who has ZERO respect for her father has good reason for it. I've been watching closely trying to weigh both sides. Now I see exactly what and why the disrespect displayed is warranted. A man who has been nothing but a lifelong drug abuser and has zero ambition of his own but tries to put on a show behind the scenes has earned no respect!
    BOTTOM LINE. A MANS WORK HISTORY SAYS A LOT AND WHEN HE HAS LITTLE TO NO REASON TO ACT HAS IF HE HAS SOMETHING OVER ON YOU WHILE HE SAYS AND DOES DEVIOUS SHIT. THIS WILL AND CAN CAUSE YOUR DAUGHTER TO CONTINUE TO TELL HER FATHER TO GET HIS HEAD OUT OF HIS ASS AND ACT LIKE A DECENT MAN/HUMAN BEING

    What he talked about the teen girls getting pregnant is I think that they just want to feel the love and touch of a man ,that will cherish them and will be present for them .but sometimes unfortunately they misunderstand or say mis feels that love with the touch of man if the man is good they win the lottery but if the misfortune plays it's cards it takes their lives on a very difficult path. So I request dads, future dads, brothers ,boy friends , watching the video please cherish her present in your life . It's a once in millennium a girl's simple brightens your life

    If this is true that daughters need their fathers to provide these things early on, so that they don't get manipulated and taking advantage of for benefits... WHY do so many people blame and judge the women that make very poor relationship choices and get taking easy.... WHO have not had these same luxuries and protection, guidance and molding growing up?? They usually tell her " well you could have said no" or " it takes 2 to tango". If you and other men are admitting that a father is needed to prevent this from happening, it is very weird that people would blame the women that never had this and not consider this
