This movie is a work of art. The visuals are absolutely breath-taking and sometimes I have to pause the movie to actually take it all in, the story line while a little on the slow side does offer an interesting plot and when looked at closer it's really something. And the music, my God the MUSiC! It's some of the most beautiful forms of art I've ever heard. This movie is brilliant. If any of you haven't bought it yet, I cannot recommend it enough.
A gloomy yet beautiful movie. The music makes half the movie really, and together with the visuals, it makes it a movie that will stay in my mind for quite some time. It gave me a new soul experience that I hadnt felt before.
This theme always raises hairs on my neck, i remember when the movie ended I had such a weird feeling. i was just laying there holding my breath, as though i expected something else to happen, but knowing that i was really over. I remember the feeling I got when the whole meaning of the movie dawned on me and I realized why everything happened the way it did. Great movie... very interesting in the way that the emotions creep up on you.
@Hikarilover123 You have a lot to learn about Oshii... the still moments have ALWAYS been a trait of his, dating all the way back to Angel's Egg. Also, The Sky Crawlers is not an action film... we're lucky to have even gotten a couple really QUALITY action sequences. This is why I love Oshii... the brief action he does give you, is some of the best aciton you'll ever watch. It's QUALITY over QUANTITY.
@Emi212 yes both Mamoru Oshii creater of the anime and Kenji Kawai for music are very tatiled both are the of the ones that had made the ghost int he shell movie as well.
@itikishion very true for japanses being very hard to translate. i cant read the chrs just a little bit of Romaji. and this movie is very good i do like Oshii work liked it when he did ghost in the shell. he had done and extra on how he got all the vsuial stuff in the movie its self and when i seen that it made it more sereal for connation from the fake world to the real world.
its a sad movie but its cool it kind of goes in a circle, uichi gets to the airfield he meets kusanagi they do it 2wice then he stops the other girl from killin her he shoots the window then he gets shot up and sent back to the kildren factory they patch im up then he gets sent to the airfield etc.etc. etc..............................
@bhlawless i wanted to say that "needless to say the music itself is beautiful, but i feel only with the existence of Kirudore is this music enhanced ". mmmm it's the same? lol it's difficult to translate Japanese to English. by the way i really like this movie and music. the story is ambiguous and makes me think about many things.
well actually to me he didnt die for the girl, b4 he died he made this speach about if small changes in their lives was enough to keep them going, than when he engaged Teacher he said that this is my "game" so he was testing if the small changes in his life were enough and if he died, he knew it wasnt enough to keep him going.
The Sky Crawlers was a good film, but one huge problem. The lack of "Sky". There was, what, 3 flight sequences? Great art direction also, but they seemed to get lazy with the animation, with lots of completely still moments. I loved how the game connected with the movie too. How Teacher is Cheetah and all. What really stood out was the amazing music, getting you into the sad situation where the world is so perfect, we must make war to remind ourselves what peace is.
@bhlawless I think just speaking Japanese is not so difficult, but as you know reading and writing are the worst things(as well as for me). too many characters!! even i cannt read some Kanji. yeah Ghost in the shell. unfortunately i haven't seen it, but i really want to. i think im gonna see it when i go back to Japan this winter. i believe my father has all DVD. lol
