I feel that. Tbh im not really a fan of his when he's not playing with them. This and his tiny desk concert are immensely good, his studio stuff and collaborations not so much.
I'm with you. I just appreciate the musicianship here, it's beautiful. I wish it was on Spotifjy. He should just do an 'unplugged album' ie. like this.
5:04 - 10:00 blew my fucking brain out of my skull. This man shouldn't be insulted with some type of classification, but even so, he went from straight up r&b to nice rhyming to spoken word to psychedelic rock all while banging out the cleanest breaks I've ever heard in my life in the span of five minutes.
Gotta thank Anderson Paak and the Free Nationals for bringing me back to good, funky music! I played "Never come down" for my grandson! Ha!Ha! Now I'm the cool Grandma! :0)
I originally thought he was only a vocalist, I'm blown away that he plays the drums like that as well as being able to sing so well at the same time. He is definitely next level, I see a Prince or Stevie Wonder sort of vibe in him in terms of musicality.
Yes. Different from some rappers, he is a real musician. Speaking of Prince, it´s cool that he closed the performance with Prince´s "I wanna be your lover" intro.
You can’t pull something like this off if you’re just okay or just talented. You have to be premium, and that’s what Mr. Anderson and the Free Nationals are
Playing the drums and singing🤯🤯....I can't even fathom that...you have to be able to sing in TUNE while moving your HANDS and FEET all at different TIMES....that's BLACKNIFICENT 👏🏿🙌🏾💯❤
Fabulous, the way he takes the history of music with him (Marvin Gaye, Curtis Mayfield, Prince, James Brown, Stevie Wonder, Steely Dan, Zappa,…) and creates something absolutely new. I love this.
I keep thinking that we've found the next singular great artist when I see what Kendrick is doing, what Glover is doing, what Paak is doing. It's like being suffocated in brilliance, it's a great time to love music right now.
I am not gone front...I TOTALLY SLEPT ON THIS DUDES TALENT! We stress the fact that there isn't any good music out here nowadays and here it is right up under my youtube nose! Good music is like a hidden treasure...no expiration date on that shit! Going to cop this album now!
I'm sad that I just discovered Anderson Paak, he is easily the next legend of our time. This guy has so much talent, I believe we haven't scratched the surface of what he can do, and I'm here for it. Kudos
Anderson.Paak and his band are beyond underrated. He is more of an R&B artist but how many dudes that delve into the hip-hop genre have his level of musicianship? Not many. And closing with "I wanna be your lover" by Prince. Nice touch bro! Nod to another mad musician.
I listen mostly to 70s stuff, i have close to no knowledge regarding what's up with modern music. Somehow this performance got into one of my playlists, and I used to listen to it at work. I had watched only the first few minutes and usually i just let it play in the backround while I work. One time I decided to watch the full thing because i used to think that ''wow the drummer they hired for the gig is really good, so much in the pocket, so much feel'' and i wondered who he is. And i watch the performance, and I see they guy leaving the microphone and sitting at the drumset ...mind blown.
Every time I pulled out of my drive way I try and listen to someone other Anderson .Paak. So far I only make it about a mile and half and it happens; Malibu. Damn it Man!
Roscoe Coltrain Malibu is just on a whole other level. when my boy wanted to put me on to him all he uttered was "Anderson Paak", and I've been addicted since January lol
Anderson.Paak I am keeping my eyes on you- can't nobody hold you back. You are a the best street social troubadour since Curtis Mayfield. I hear a Lil Curtis in you. Yes Lord, my heart don't stand a chance 😇
I want someone to actually find me someone with such a good vocal range talent on the drums while enjoying it this much please because his personality shines through his performances like nothing I've ever seen before
Best musician I've heard in a very long time. Malibu was great, Oxnard is even better. HIs influences are so many that his music sounds so rich. Funk, hip-hop, motown, R&B, soul, rock ...
I keep falling for music and karisma on stage. What a performer, musician, singer and most of all the ambience he creates man. Anderson .Paak you are a genius, the whole package, can´t wait this pandemic is controlled to get to one of your jams.-.-
we’ve finally reached the point in music where young people are tired of some of the stuff played nowadays and are taking matters into their own hands 👏👏👏
I get the same feeling from him that I got when I first saw Prince in 83...lyrics from the heart and rhythm is smooth on some many levels. Feel his art people...this cat is on his way up... SXSW would be a great venue for him.
I turned my 21 year old son on to this. Now when I hear him singing something from Malibu as he walks through the house I start singing with him 😀then I'm like "put it on". It's been far to long....since we've heard from a real true artist musician singer songwriter apart and above the rest. He's no longer living under his greatness.
Anderson .Paak is a legend already! Being that way is having that state of mind and Anderson has got it X 1,000 , I fucks with him 110% , grade A music!!!
Fantastic concert! the band was great as well! I wonder if Mr. Paak knows how beautiful his smile is. I would love to have a person in my circles with a smile that big just lights up the whole room.
I looked him up because I saw him on the Modela ad. It's not what I usually listen to...but I can see that this guy is very talented. Great music and lyrics. Rap, jazz, rock, funk synthesis. It's encouraging to see someone with real talent make it, instead of music labels trying to jam mediocre bullshit. I wish him a long successful career !
Omg! Anderson Paak is a bad dude! Such a talented man, just seeing this video, so glad he team up with Bruno Mars! The two of them is a awesome duo together! Give Anderson Paak his credit, it sure is due, he is really a great performer & has became a rising star!!!👍
Playing drums while singing is so fucking hard, Paak is a boss.
SKILL COLLINS
You win the internet on my turf today.
Congrats!
paak, collins, copeland
Way Kool 😎😎😎 & Phil Collins & Teddy Pendergrass Can Play Drums &Sing .
he is da boss!!
drumming while singing is one of the hardest multitasks ever
Can we take a minute to appreciate how dope the free nationals are please ?!
I feel that. Tbh im not really a fan of his when he's not playing with them. This and his tiny desk concert are immensely good, his studio stuff and collaborations not so much.
FO REAL!!!!!!!
🙌🙌🙌🙌
I'm with you. I just appreciate the musicianship here, it's beautiful. I wish it was on Spotifjy. He should just do an 'unplugged album' ie. like this.
They are what the Revolution were to Prince in the 80's or the wrecking crew to the beach boys
I would completely avoid any human being that does not appreciate this.

yes sir
But she’s my daughter 😭🤣
He's one of those artist who actually sounds better live and he already sounds amazing on records..
Needs a live album! Their live vibe is 🔥
J'adore il est génial ce mec il a du potentiel 😉✌️☮️
He's way better live honestly. The studios dumb down his natural talent (you can say the same for a decent number of artists).
@@leungsz yes, I never could get into his studio albums much
He should release a normal studio album and then a live album ie. without any bells and whistles, effects etc.
This brother put in more work in less than half an hour than most artists do in an hour and a half.
This is probably the 30th time I’ve watched this. Can’t get enough of this guy
....Mate..... I saw Queen at LiveAid and, years and years later, Arlo Guthrie in a local bar......this is the mixture of the two. Can't stop watching.
5:04 - 10:00 blew my fucking brain out of my skull. That "Carry Me" performance is propably the best i have ever seen

Gotta thank Anderson Paak and the Free Nationals for bringing me back to good, funky music! I played "Never come down" for my grandson! Ha!Ha! Now I'm the cool Grandma! :0)
cool Grandma
Yes you are!!
Indeed 🕺
I originally thought he was only a vocalist, I'm blown away that he plays the drums like that as well as being able to sing so well at the same time. He is definitely next level, I see a Prince or Stevie Wonder sort of vibe in him in terms of musicality.
He reminds me of Buddy Miles damn, so funky and uplifting
Yes. Different from some rappers, he is a real musician. Speaking of Prince, it´s cool that he closed the performance with Prince´s "I wanna be your lover" intro.
Prince with a pinch of James Brown was my first impression after listening to this guy
I think he sounds like an Anderson Paak. Or a himself.
Wonder song Anderson, paak.
You can’t pull something like this off if you’re just okay or just talented. You have to be premium, and that’s what Mr. Anderson and the Free Nationals are
He is a living legend straight up, not even a debate

I love this.
Album of the year, best new comer, best RnB record, best male performance, ..he should take these categories for 2016 awards
agreed!
Nymless Blackbean Realistically he would probably win best new comer and best RnB record. But I want him to win it all!

Did he take These Awards???

This is real music. The instruments , the vocals , the coolness of the atmosphere . This is what I don't wanna miss out on in my teenage years.
I keep thinking that we've found the next singular great artist when I see what Kendrick is doing, what Glover is doing, what Paak is doing. It's like being suffocated in brilliance, it's a great time to love music right now.
A musician that comes once in a generation.
Absolutely brilliant. The entire band is amazing. So damn tight!!

This guy is what music needs right now!!
My obsession for Anderson .Paak has grown so much over the last 3 months. This guy is so freaking groovy
This man is a genius... Genius like Prince and D'Angelo.
His tinny desk perfomance is popular, but this performance is also a gem worth 100 mil view too.
Anderson.Paak and his band are beyond underrated. He is more of an R&B artist but how many dudes that delve into the hip-hop genre have his level of musicianship? Not many. And closing with "I wanna be your lover" by Prince. Nice touch bro! Nod to another mad musician.
