This video is a year old, but I still want to take a minute to thank you for doing these comparisons. They’re so thorough and well-done. The info is priceless as well. Thank you again. ❤
Thank you Steve this has helped me greatly, even being a year old. I struggled so much with a particular brand and nearly gave up on doing resin. So happy 🎉
I really appreciate you doing this test! I’ve tried some of the others and they aren’t as hard as the Jdiction. I didn’t think it mattered until I tried the Jdiction. I like the Let’s Resin but like I said, Jdiction was so much harder. The art Resin was the worst for me.
Thanks Steve.I use Lets resin with the jelly fish on the bottle ,and even though it has a long cure time its the best for NO BUBBLES. I REALLY NEED TO FIND A FASTER CURING WITH LOW BUBBLES. THANKS FOR YOUR INFO!
I would like to Thank You for all of your time, money & effort that you have put into making this video. Not only for all of us resin users but especially for beginners or those of us (like myself) who are very interested but afraid 😬 (for lack of a better term) in becoming part of the resin world. I learned a lot about good resin vs bad resin. Again, Thank you. 😊
Which kind of Just Resin did you use? They have a couple different kinds. I was surprised by the results! No more expensive resin for me 👍 Thank you for sharing.
Hi Steve can you please do one about cleaning tools. I’ve only been doing resin since my other half pasted away. I just don’t know how to clean tools, measuring cups and moulds
Thanks for the comparison. One factor that may have been overlooked regarding bubbles is the intended use of each resin. Art Resin is a doming resin which should only be used in 1/8” layers. In a thin layer the bubbles can release very easily particularly with a quick pass of a torch. It then works great for a seascape for example. If an artist is using a mold and pouring to a greater depth,(as you did in your experiment), a casting resin would be more appropriate. Could you tell us which of these resins are doming vs casting resins? I wonder how that affects the yellowing in a thin vs thick depth too.
I really enjoyed and appreciate this video. I am just getting into resin and am so overwhelmed with all the options. Thank you so much for clearing this up for me!! ❤
I am SOOOO glad I found your video on resins. I tried Let's Resin today and WOWZER. No Bubbles? Really? I poured on my canvas and no heat gun necessary to get bubbles out. It is still wet and there is some cloudiness but seems to be clearing up. I looked on their website and nothing on processes etc. I pour two thin coats on my art typically. If it is dry to touch tomorrow, can I pour the second coat or do I have to wait till it cures? AGAIN THANK YOU for this video. You just made my life wonderful.
Hi Steve, A very big 👍 up & A very big 👍 up to say thank you so so much for taking the time to make & share this VERY HELPFUL VIDEO I really did appreciate it THANK YOU as I appreciate all your VIDEOS Steve, I think you are an Awesome guy with an Awesome crafty craft channels so please 🙏 keep up the fab work All the best Lin 🤗👍✨
Thank you Steve for doing this! I thought maybe I did something wrong. I had used the ones you had that yellowed horribly! And yes they did for me too! But this video helped me about checking out some other ones. I was so disheartened to have jewelry I made to have clear ocean looks(see through clear outer layer) turn my pieces a dingy yellow. I didn't even have them out in the sun. Plus sometimes the pieces didn't seem to stay cured either.... Like they were remelting. Yet I did exactly like the instructions said. So I have several pieces that are just sitting in a bin and many so sticky they stick to each other and not sure what I can do to fix them. Such a waste of money and an expensive education. So thank you again for this. Very educational!
Thank you Steve for doing this test I tend to use j diction love the mica powders and use vista cascade but now going to try vista turbo this cures fast. I appreciate the time and effort this deserves a coffee for your efforts bless you, love your fur baby dogs beautiful
I would love to see you do this experiment with Jdiction and MAS pro! I just bought my first bottle of UV resin from JDiction because of your expertise and I'm excited to use it. I had previously used MAS pro which I did like for some projects but now I don't trust anyone else's opinion on resin besides yours! So I need your help 😂
In my little workshop I have a little heater for when I'm working I just started doing resin and I have a question, when I get done doing the resin and I turn the heater off and it's really cold outside should I bring the resin in or is it all right to leave it out in the workshop until it's cured? Thank you in advance for your answer I look forward to your help.
It wouldn't matter since the yellowing is happening on the resin level. It's the resin itself reacting to the UV light that's making it yellow, so pigments and micas would mask it, but it would still be turning yellow.
Thanks Steve for taking the trouble to do this for us all. You always do great experiments, and make great videos. You are a brilliant RUclipsr. God bless you and all those you love.
Yes thank you I have learned a lot from watching your videos as well as other videos from other channels but I enjoy watching your channel the most I can’t afford to give donations do to being on disability sorry but please keep up the great work and videos
I appreciate your time on this. Yellowing can occur with sunlight exposure inside the house though it might happen at a slower rate. All resins brag about bubbles, yellowing etc but as you said they all yellow eventually. This is one reason I don’t use them on my paintings beside not liking the plastic look on my art. All are food safe for incidental contact once fully cured according to the FDA data sheet. I wouldn’t cut on it though.
I am a total newbie to resin and highly value your videos and experience AND advice. It is fabulous that you take the time and trouble to provide this level of expertise! Today was my very first resin "pour" on several small items from three pendants to several little molds. I'm going to work up to other projects hoping to finally reach enough experience to pour a rectangular table top which is designed with never-worn Swatch watches and small turtles. I call it my Fool's Table - long story - but I spent so much money on the design contents thinking of them as mini investments - never happened - so Fool's Table. I have to get this pour right because the overall table is turning out rather stunning and I really want it to work. Thanks ever so for helping me on the way . . .
Once you get your resin I suggest you pour many very thin coats instead of trying thick or even medium coats. Better chance of maybe getting dust in it (make sure to inspect and then cover it well) but greatly reduced chance of bubbles ruining your table. If you have areas that could cause bubbles (the watch faces or under the turtles) keep a very close eye on them all or try to coat them individually first. Good luck! 😁👍
@@ChibiChula So thankful for your welcome reply. Been muddling through this far and trying to learn all I can. Your suggestion of many thin coats sound like the real voice of reason and something I can certainly shoot for and will most likely do once I'm ready. I'm hesitant in the first place and have no clue yet as to which resin would serve me best. I'm voraciously trying to educate myself so I can get this project done. Have even thought about having it done somewhere but even this will take educating myself. Happy to say @ChibiChula (love the name!) that my first EVER resin went well.
@@DressYourHorse Glad to hear that your first resin project went well! I recommend that you take on a project at least half the size and complexity of your table before taking on a project you feel that strongly about. Taking on half the work will give you a better idea of what you are in for with the table and help you prepare and practice. Also, my suggestion of thin layers was not just because of caution due to bubbles but is the actual best technique for this type of project unless you specifically get a resin that is recommended for deep pours. The package will tell you how deep you can pour the resin for a reason. If you go too deep with some resins it can flash cure and produce so much heat it's actually dangerous. Please be careful. BTW, I seem to remember someone doing a very thorough explanation and testing video about different resins. I'll see if I can find it again but I seem to remember that a counter top resin and marine resin were included (probably Stonecoat and Total Boat), possibly a bar coat too, so it does feature some of the pricey side of resins but they are good quality for furniture pieces. It's been ages though so maybe you should try to find a more up-to-date version of the video instead. Good luck again! 😁👍
@@ChibiChula Oh thank you so much for your unexpected and incredibly knowledgeable reply. I am so grateful! I have many plans to play and practice before attempting to do the table. I call it Fools Table for a reason. That's why I'm even considering having it finished professionally. It is definitely an involved project - one that I'm nowhere near trying yet. I'm doing a few more molds and going up in scale to perhaps a dresser tray and similar resin projects so that I can learn to play with colors and various things. I plan to do a 5x7 picture frame over glass, or mosaic or mixed media. Then on to an 8x10. I have four single pane windows I want to resin for a backdrop in my garden playing on resin clarity combined with colored glass, marbles and designs I'm figuring out now. These will be my stepping stones to the table. I've prepped the table with gesso. The design on the table is now complete - I'm only debating whether I wish to incorporate any cracked glass. All watches are laid out their full length in a pattern I designed. The turtles are interspersed and vary in gold and in silver and in pearls or colorful shells. They complement the watches rather nicely. It's not a table for everyone but it sure ought to be one heck of a conversation piece. The watches represent an investment I made as do the turtles. By using them, their value is shot. This entire thing is purely visual and hopefully heirloom unique. It is important to me to get it right. For all these reasons, I think it is so very special to me that you have offered such important advice and I'm listening to you ever so closely. I'll get one chance to get it right. So off I go to practice, practice, practice. You are a lifesaver and a sweetheart. Thank you so very much!
I noticed that the labels on the J Diction resin bottles changed from the beginning of the video to when you had them lined up on the chart. What happened? It’s also important because that company sells a number of different resins and if we want to use the resin you are using it’s important to know which one it actually is. The label at the end looks like their faster curing resin as it says 4 hour demolding time. This is not the case for the J Diction bottle at the start that you showed being poured into the cup.
Do you think the thickness of the resin may have affected the test as some recommend no more than 1/2cms which your test discs are well over double that depth 🤷just saying it may affect the test results 😉🤷
I am glad to see this comparison. I personally use the Art Resin and have never had any trouble with it. However I have never left anything in the sun lol. I guess I will probably switch to jdiction. It seems to be the best so far. I just don’t like the 2to 1 ratio lol I prefer the equal parts lol. Again thank you! I wish more people would do this type of video
Like everything else, it has its use case :) I use it only for inlays on pendant frames with closed backs and particularly if I'm adding pigments. I think it's good for stuff like that. It all depends on what you're doing, making, and creating!
It was a surprise to me and it’s so expensive, but I think it’s fine for coating pictures. The JDiction is a 1-1 as we’re all the ones I used in this video 😀
I've been using art resin as well because they were supposed to not yellow and no bubbles according to other sites. but I've been running in to it not hardening properly n bubbles. thanks for showing me the next one to use. love watching ur creations 😀
I love Let's Resin for UV resin and their two part resin … I also love JDiction 2 part resin but not their uv resin… glad to see the two very best ones were the ones I use as well! :)
This was a good comparison between the different brands. Thank you for providing this useful information. I would also like to leave my condolences for the loss of Queen Elizabeth II. I had great respect for her and her service to her Commonwealth and to the world.
If money was of no concern which epoxy has the best UV protection? I've made a few large objects, river coffee table and led table lamps for which I used glasscast 50 and it hasn't yellowed but they are not in direct sun light, I'm going to start making some jewelry pendants which will obviously been worn in sun light so I want to use the best epoxy that won't yellow already for years rather than within months, what's the recommendation? Jdiction looks here to be the best choice but has anyone been using glasscast 10 or 50 and know how that holds up in comparison?
I know this is an old post, but I thought I would still share. I would use marine epoxy or acrylic resin instead of epoxy resin for heavy UV exposure projects.
Thanks for doing this! Which Jdiction resin did you use? The standard? Or the 3x UV Resistant? And did you have them in the sun for the full 6 months? I live in Western Washington in the states, so we get about the same amount of sun. 🤓
Enjoying all your videos. Curious if you have a suggestion on best coating resin? I make resin figurines that I paid and the coat with resin. Having a hard time finding one thar doesnt make fish eyes and take many layers as then I loose a lot of details with the thickness.
Thanks so much for this video! Appreciate it loads. Q: were they all 1:1 ratio resins? Suggestion: since you already got the resins, and mostly have been sitting there for a few months untouched, would be interesting to see how some of them look now (as in the bottles) and seeing how well they mix after sometime after being opened and untouched. And also, how them ones that turned yellow go with a dark colour pigment in them? Maybe try a red or blue in there see if they turn a bit orange or green?? Just an idea for ya to use them up and also a vid idea 😀
Thank you for taking the time to do this comparison. I know it was much time and money and it shows how dedicated you are to your channel and teaching people about the proper use of the best resin. Thank you thank you thank you.
This is surprising. Personally i've only used Let's Resin (from the resins in this video), but i always notice 'Art Resin' because it's 3 times the price of all the others. I don't like really viscous resin, and on amazon it's really hard to find actual viscosity info without reading ALL the reviews, and it isn't always there either. That's disgusting how expensive AND bad Art Resin is. For me, Let's Resin low viscosity has the best price\performance ratio.
💜💜💜💜 Hi Steve, quick note to point out. With the Jdiction resin you poured the “Crystal Clear” in the beginning but in the final comparison chart where you have them all lined up you’ve put the “4h demould” instead, which is not the one you actually tested. I don’t know if the results between the two are exactly the same, but they’re 2 different products :)
Thank u this is a great video comparison i do art projects on my cha.nnel But never tried resin.. looking forward to do my first try Was not sure what type should i buy i would like to nail my project from the first try ❤ 🇱🇧🇱🇷 I never treid resi
I've only ever used Art Resin for very small things that I colored, so I didn't really notice the yellowing. I did stop due to price. It's outragous! But I am 100% in agreement with your Dr. Crafty results, that stuff is, in my personal opinion, terrible. It is very expensive, takes forever to cure, horrid bubbles and... THE SMELL! It smells just aweful and took days to get rid of. Personally I love Let's Resin and use it almost exclusivly. I also like Teexpert. I might pick up some JDiction to give it a try!
Hey Steve! Great experiment! It’s been 10+ years since I’ve messed with resin. Im struggling to select a resin and you have my top 3 named here, including Teexpert. I guess I’ll go with LR or JD, depending on price. Thanks so much! 😊
Thank you so much for your detailed video. I’ve just ordered the J Dictation based on your review. I’ve just used the craft resin and found it to be very good, but , I know nothing as I’m a newbie to it all. I’m excited to try the J Diction as a comparison. Xx
Thank you so much for doing this- I've been using Art Resin for the past few years because it was all my local store had. I had to learn a million little tricks to stop it from doing exactly what you showed here. I wish I had found you earlier- now I can switch to an easier to use, more inexpensive, better resin. Some other problems I've had over the years, it has a surprisingly low heat tolerance, it only seems to be good for glazing, and even months later sometimes my coasters will take indents easily. (even with a warm water bath beforehand, a space heater and ideal humidity)
That's hilarious; I bought JDiction because it was one of the cheaper brands from amazon under the assumption it was a okayish homebrandy beginner resin. Turns out I struck gold, lucky me 😂
You want to try dipoxy -2k-700 resin it's cheap and a amazing all round resin low viscosity plus can be poured upto 15 cm deep if piece isn't too wide but I love it much better than your 50/50 resins for art which I don't rate . It's odourless when mixed the catalyst smells of ammonia on its own but disappears when mixed great degassing and glass like look and feel when hard it does take longer to harden but that's a bonus longer working time if in a shallow wide container. I've found German made resin to be the best bar far
Exactly the kind of video I was looking for, first time doing epoxy. Been searching around for hours. Thanks! Now i just need to find a good liquid silicone brand to build a mold
Have you tried Stone Coat Countertops? I've been using them for a couple years now. They have 2 different art resin available and they claim they have extra UV protection. They also seem comparable in price. It's not for deep pours, but I have used it for deeper molds.
Hi there! Amazing video, I really appreciate it because I am a newbie to polymer clay creations. It's been a year, do you happen to still have those 6 resins on you still, for an update?
Thank you, Steve, this was very useful. I also would like to congratulate you on your patience. To have worked on this project for 6 months is impressive. I am not sure if I could have done that. Love you work. Love your videos. Keep up the great work.
Funny story (and this is now the 2nd time this has happened to me, though on another person's channel) I am sitting here watching your videos from a plsylist i created for "watch later" as I am watching i suddenly find myself watching a 30 minute advertisement for CounterculterDIY and the only reason I notice is because the only resin artist I know uses it is Artsy Mad Woman and she is no longer doing resin pours. She is expirimenting with "Tufting" and has not done resin in almost a year. I was about 7 minutes into this commercial before I realize its a 30 minute advertisement. So youtube is getting really good at slipping in these ads 😯
I’ve been using the ArtResin! 😮 I looked into the JDiction and it performed poorly on canvas. Do you have any suggestions as to what resin to use on canvas that won’t yellow badly?
This video is a year old, but I still want to take a minute to thank you for doing these comparisons. They’re so thorough and well-done. The info is priceless as well. Thank you again. ❤

I love SigWong. It's my go-to, never have bubbles, and it's crystal clear! I never had that yellow issue on my outside pieces.
That’s great news. As I said these are my findings and other people may have different experiences
I really appreciate you doing this test! I’ve tried some of the others and they aren’t as hard as the Jdiction. I didn’t think it mattered until I tried the Jdiction. I like the Let’s Resin but like I said, Jdiction was so much harder. The art Resin was the worst for me.
Thank you for the spelling of product, I wasn't sure till I read your comment

I have just started with uv resin. I use Let’s Resin. Glad I chose a good one even though I had no idea. 😁
I love Let's Resin for UV resin and their two part resin … I also love JDiction 2 part resin but not their uv resin… glad to see the two very best ones were the ones I use as well! :)
I really appreciate your work……I’m new to resin so you have spared me endless frustration and some cash.👍👏
That is the best compliment anyone could give me. Thank you
This was a good comparison between the different brands.
Thank you. I used the 3 x UV resist
Art resin is a 1:1 ratio, but I never heard of the other brands he used
Craft resin is 1:1 ratio.
Thank you for taking the time to do this comparison. I know it was much time and money and it shows how dedicated you are to your channel and teaching people about the proper use of the best resin. Thank you thank you thank you.
I love this test!!! I have tried so many resins & to be honest I always go back to JDiction I just love it!!! I love you & your videos!!!
LOVE THE DOGGIES!!!!!! Beautiful fur babies!!! What are their names?
Thank you for taking the time to do this so that we don't make costly mistakes x
💜💜💜💜
Hi Steve, quick note to point out.
Thank you, Steve. Brilliant as always.
Thank u this is a great video comparison i do art projects on my cha.nnel
But never tried resin.. looking forward to do my first try
Was not sure what type should i buy i would like to nail my project from the first try ❤
🇱🇧🇱🇷
I never treid resi
Good comparison, useful information. Love you saying you block out the hater in the comments💯 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
I LOVE WATCHING YOUR VIDEOS! I wish I had the $ to buy you a coffee and join you. But I do love to watch the videos!💕😇♥️
🤠 Thank you for doing this for us!! Love how you check things out...blessings!
Turns out I struck gold, lucky me 😂
You said this video isn't sponsored yet I clearly saw "Paid Promotion" in the upper left corner.
I really enjoyed using Dr. Resin and TeeXpert, was NOT a fan of SigWong. It's pretty tricky to use resin out here in the Arizona desert
Thanks this table helps!
I am just starting and bought a kit that came with "Sophie & Toffee" resin ... have you tried that resin before?
Hi there! Amazing video, I really appreciate it because I am a newbie to polymer clay creations. It's been a year, do you happen to still have those 6 resins on you still, for an update?
Thank you for doing this it's been very helpful 👏👏
I bought Art Resin and I will never use it again because of how many bubbles it gets, it also reeks. Amazing Clear Cast is an improvement.
I wish Unicone Art was in there.
I'm currently using Colour Pour from my local craft store in the U.S. and it sucks!
Thank you, Steve, this was very useful. I also would like to congratulate you on your patience. To have worked on this project for 6 months is impressive. I am not sure if I could have done that.
Love you work. Love your videos. Keep up the great work.
Wow I'm glad I watched this before I spent a bunch of money on Art Resin 😬. Thank you!
Funny story (and this is now the 2nd time this has happened to me, though on another person's channel)
I am sitting here watching your videos from a plsylist i created for "watch later" as I am watching i suddenly find myself watching a 30 minute advertisement for CounterculterDIY and the only reason I notice is because the only resin artist I know uses it is Artsy Mad Woman and she is no longer doing resin pours. She is expirimenting with "Tufting" and has not done resin in almost a year. I was about 7 minutes into this commercial before I realize its a 30 minute advertisement.
So youtube is getting really good at slipping in these ads 😯
Thanks Steve Just about to buy some resin and your video gave me just what I wanted to know. J Diction for me.
I’ve been using the ArtResin! 😮 I looked into the JDiction and it performed poorly on canvas. Do you have any suggestions as to what resin to use on canvas that won’t yellow badly?
Thank you so very much for making this very honest comparison of these resins Sir!🙏 It's so hard to find honest reviews these days!
Hi Steve,
Do you have a TicToc account?
I know a lot of resin people over there who would benefit from your experience working with resin and inks.
Hi. Love your videos. I’m new to resin. I would like to make my dog a customized dog tag. In your opinion, should I use Let’s Resin?
Very useful comparison. Super thanks!!!!
I started with Dr Crafty and couldn’t figure out why none of my projects came out well. I guess now I know! 😅
