Miles Coverdale I believe it was Germanwings. He flew the plane into a mountain. This one makes me sad but that one just makes me extremely angry
The thing is I can imagine myself doing something like this if I was pissed off enough. I guess if he crashed into the building there would've been time for his boss to run away. This man was rational in his judgement in the sense that he didnt want to hurt innocent people. There has to be more to the story, sadly we couldn't hear his side.
Perhaps family was interviewed? There was a situation like this where a maintenance guy in Seattle stole a plane and crashed it, killing only himself.

Losing your medical is every pilots nightmare, it happened to me in 1989.
Yes, it was not exactly a high point in my life but I moved on and am now successful at another trade.
In my opinion though, I think the regulatory agencies could lighten up a bit on medical requirements. I lost my medical because one of my eyes went bad (Keratoconus) and yes, the bad eye saw everything out of focus but I could (and still can) see just fine with both eyes.
Looking back, my eye condition would not have compromised safety in the slightest but I was not allowed to fly because of it.

After some stories I've heard, and videos I've watched, this has been the best suicidal pilot story going. He took his own life, whilst flipping off the company. He didn't take people with him. Wanting to crash into a building, he chose not to once he realised other people would be killed.
The company grounded him, he grounded the company.
Shame though. I guess for some, flying is life.
Its a shame when anybody feels suicide is the way, nevermind when they put others at risk or seek revenge. Its just sad for everyone.

Unfit to fly, yet flies and lands a plane perfectly, while his aim was also on point enough to take out two planes AND had a good moral compass not to take out (harm) any bystanders.
he took a plane without authorization with the intention of crashing it. that's pretty unfit in my book.
Even if it was a physical issue that meant he wasn't fit to fly, just because he could complete a flight doesn't mean he was fit to fly. It would have to be extreme before a pilot wasn't able to complete one flight.
eg: someone prone to heart attack, seizures, etc isn't likely to crash on their first flight, but isn't fit to fly.
@@samsabruskongen Declaring him unfit triggered him....
He was on point enough to take out two planes... Well, he WAS on the ground at that moment.
Yeah, basically he flown the plane on ideal visibility conditions and near the airport, just taking a plane to do something foolish because of a grudge is something i would say "unfit for flying", if he was triggered by his medical grounding, then i would guess he didnt have clear mind to fly and follow procedures to the letter and cooperate with other crew members...From the way he told the tower that he wanted to talk to all these people, i would guess he had personal issues which affected his abilities for sound judgement

The irony from this is if he had hit the AB building as he intended to do the damage to the company would have been logistically minimal. The fact he changed his plan once he was told people would be inside to then destroying the remainder of the fleet had a FAR greater consequence to AB in the upcoming months with no planes and I'm sure cancellations from regular flyers. An excellent video as always; this is why I like this channel. It informs me of lesser known aviation incidents with superb presentation.
BTW considering this incident and another video I saw of a stolen plane, I would think aviation officials would seriously consider anti-theft devices on aircraft and improving airport security. Someone stealing a plane with homicidal intent could do a lot of damage.

This wasn't an appeals situation that we know. Any person receiving this sort of news should be referred for help they may need. One reason many employers started providing services for fired employees was the rash of workplace violence and perhaps for image reasons.

The fact that he was able to land it without any fuel was testament to his piloting abilities, had he come to a complete stop he would have created a textbook example of how to recover a stricken plane.

Her father was dying of cancer and her father's employer paid for her and her spouse and baby to fly to South Africa from the US to see him one final time and for him to meet his grandson and son-in-law for the first time. They couldn't have afforded it with a new baby and one income.
@@clairebennett7831 I would think that perhaps the Pilot had been given a 'Not long to live'message from his Medical organisation, plus he'd been prevented from flying, hence the bitterness. At least he didn't bother anyone else . this is typically a psychological instance.
Air Canada Flight 143 please, it would be interesting to see the recreation of the manoeuvre. (A little slew mode?)
This was a lesson for airlines that pilots should pass phsychological tests too.
Medical checks are stringent, more so in the uk . But this will differ from country to country. One pilot told me you only have to sneeze at his company and you have to report it .
That's assuming that somebody has to be crazy to do crazy things. Normal people can be pushed to do abnormal things. That's being human.
Sad, respect for not wanting to hurt anyone. Did he run 'out' of fuel or just 'low'? Seemed like he had enough to finish the job. RIP angry dude, I feel ya.
Ran out of fuel to fly but just enough to crash the business
This is an amazing channel!👍
And that folks... is how you have to suicide! keeping everyone else safe, respect for the pilot not hitting the building and warning everyone... RIP
"Suicide" isn't a verb. We say "commit suicide" in English.
Same went for Rich'. Sure, he stole a Dash Q400, but didn't take any other lives with him. Crazy to see that being so.
@@chocomanger6873 Wrong, suicide can be used as a verb, but not in that context tho. There are two quite new words that is actually
inflections for the 'verb' Suicide. Suiciding and Suicided. So his illness suicided him.
@@XouZ88 In normal English it's not a verb.
@@chocomanger6873 we say " nobody fucking cares" in Canada
ATC: "Please land the plane, and then you can discuss your concerns with Air Botswana management!" Pilot: "I will crash the plane into Air Botswana headquarters, and THEN we can discuss my concerns!!"
culcune MY question IS.... WHY was he NOT shot down once his intentions were KNOWN ?!!🙄🤔🤷🤦
@@terryhawkins8191 Did/does they have the capability?
culcune ikr....it's strange as HELL to have let him stay airborne for TWO hrs going un-challanged after WHAT he told ATC !! Doesn't make much sense !!🤔🙄🤷🤦
Incredible greetings from la Gran Tenochtitlán. Totally love this channel
I've subscribed to this channel as these are great factual, realistic and entertaining videos. My only confusion is that the pilot landed because he ran out of fuel yet he landed with the engines running and was still able to taxi and accelerate to 200 kts.
The most dangerous airline: Air pilot steals aircraft
Ik this might be a stretch of a suggestion but maybe cover the emiliano sala private plane crash
Rage. When you're driven by anger, all hail breaks loose.
When you said Entire Fleet, I was expecting more than 3 aircraft ;)
It's AIR BOTSWANA, not Lufthansa!
