I am Marathi speaking American Indian living in US for last 21 yrs. Came here to work after completing my BE in Mumbai.
While i have seen everything in last 20 yrs, my honest opinion is the US dream is more than just GC. When I came here, there was a huge difference between Indian and American lifestyle. Not anymore.. US had quality of life, India was coming up. Now, the difference is narrowing and in some areas India is better than US. When I say India, I am talking about Mumbai coz I don’t know what and how it is outside Mumbai.
The greencard backlog is theoretically correct. In reality, GC takes 7-20 years on average across various categories ie lowest for EB1 and highest for EB3.
Even if you say 7%, India gets a lot of spillover visas from other countries and categories, so in reality, Indians get much more GCs than the 7%.
Immigration is least of the issues. US is losing its sheen as an attractive destination. I would advise, given the world order today, India is a better option than any other country.

'General Category' holders should lobby in US senate to block castes of Marathas, OBC, Dalits and muslims to come to USA for seeking jobs. These castes have created reservation in education and jobs for themselves in India by using power of money and influence.
These castes vote only for politicians of their own caste who highly corrupt and violent. USA should not welcome such castes from India.

I totally agree. Well described. Unfortunately, the Green Note impresses our citizens. I did my education in America in 1986. Had been close to a Gujarati family. They owned a lot of land and property in Gujarat.Still, felt unfortunate, they were in a mindset that coming to America would improve their life. The lady worked in a restaurant as a cook and the remaining family did housekeeping work in a Motel. Please believe me, they had a staff of 25 in Gujarat, looking after their house work and the cattle too in Bardoli district of Gujarat.I sincerely, don’t understand, why the fuck our citizens feel, after reaching America they will achieve Moksha? I keep visiting my friends in America and I love it. But, never envy them. Being a Goan myself and lazy due to it,can’t be like them as far as the house work is concerned. If we have to do it, earning money has no meaning. I am not demeaning the house work, but,Just being frank. Once again, I sincerely request our youngsters to educate themselves and be in our India to enjoy their life for a great hardship they have suffered. And afford to keep servants too. God Bless.

    As an Indian living in the US for last 15 years on H1B (before that F1 and then OPT) and working in top social media company as an Engineer, this is 100% correct- the immigration process of the US is really bad …if someone asks me about my opinion, i tell them, don’t come to the US and don’t get stuck in this immigration loop.

Whatever he is saying is true, life indeed gets difficult post Masters; yes H1B is an employer tied with loads of restrictions , and one more thing to clarify , actually this quota is 7 % for Indians and other nationalities, and it depends upon which country you're born, not on the Indian passport! Also , if one is planning to go to US with intent of settling, as he said, yes it might be impossible to get GC!

They can’t even afford a driver. Would like to suggest our youngsters to achieve their dreams and be in our India. They will be able to employ and ‘ afford’ workers to do their household duties. This will result in giving employment to our poor citizens too and we won’t have to do these kind of house work. Believe me, my American friends don’t really enjoy doing the housework, but, they can’t afford to keep a helper. So ,after witnessing this, I suggest our youngsters to achieve and then be a lucky one to enjoy life, rather than cutting their lawn themselves. My citizens should read a book written by ‘Shobha Chitre’,” Gothlelya Wata”. If they know Marathi.A true depiction of our citizens living in America. Actually,it’s so accurate, that, the Marathi citizens hated her for exposing their lifestyle in America, unlike they project themselves when they are in our India visiting.

In India even after good academic career and good internship tenure students don't get job. How much years they will be leaving as a dependent child ? It's frustrating... I have seen the frustrated students. Even they tried hard for job, the didn't succeed and so they started preparing for GRE.. it's all about less job opportunities and unemployment in India and not only money Lush.

But once you decide to settle in another country no one can stop you. Go head. I have seen flight from India to different countries and 40% are new travelers which going for job purpose and settle there. Every you tube video will frightened you, but ignore it.

India's investing big bucks in educating its youth, only for a chunk of them to jet off to the USA. It's about time the younger lot grasped their responsibility in driving India's growth. Instead of hopping on the first flight out, it's high time they realized that their skills are crucial for India's progress. It's not just about personal gain; it's about being loyal to the country that nurtured their potential. The homeland needs their intellect and innovation, yet they choose the allure of foreign shores. It's not just a choice; it's a debt owed to the nation that invested in their education. Prioritize national development over personal gains and put those skills to use where they're desperately needed.

Other thing is the culture which makes people self dependent more early which also changes the way one thinks. Apart from that the quality of living is most of people want to experience at large.
