Most of my casual decks are built around cards that only the commander unlocks
I like to do that in cEDH too, but I also really dislike 4c+ good stuff piles :D

This sort of deck identification skill is so valuable in other formats where your commander doesn't already tell everyone what you are playing. It does raise an interesting question of which decks would benefit the most if commanders were hidden information until cast.

Elsha doesn’t want enthusiastic mechanist because it’s a creature that can get stuck on the top of your library (esp when Elsha plays maybe 3 creatures max anyway)

You're also running breach so no need to water down the deck for a single line. Birgi and helm of awakening are plenty.
Some versions even use Proteus Staff as basically a Doomsday, so no creatures. Probably a bit less good than using Dockside, but still pretty powerful.

Magda used to run Null Brooch as well (I still have it in from the old days). Great for a gotcha moment! It's a counter that's not a spell, so it can't be countered as easily. Also Magda doesn't care about the hand that much :D
One other deck Expedite goes in is a thumbless goblin and his estranged blue cousin.
One day, one day the other thumb will be made black border and we can finally meld into Krark the thumbed!
That was what I was guessing. Or Feather but I don't know if anyone plays that card as a cEDH commander

Tayam doesnt have Swift reconfiguration because it makes Devoted druid into a non creature and tayam can only take counts out of creatures, so you would need to crew (crew 5) and that makes it very difficult.
not to mention if you crew it you're back to square one since the druid will now die to -1/-1 counters as a SBA
they instead just need to get its toughness to 4+. then its 3 mana/3 counters per tayam use.
On the other hand it's a good source of infinite mana for tayam's ability.

I was hoping to see Scholar of the Ages. Every time I pull out Inalla, everyone is confused when that card hits the battlefield.
#6 you forgot Krark & Sakashima, 1 mana can-trip turning into 1 mana draw X. #10 Jaxis also goes in Etali (R/G one) as a way to get more triggers feel it is missed as an opportunity in a few build lists.
also, for what its worth, the podcasts where it feels like the "audience" can easily interact with the podcast (in this case by guessing themselves while yall muse about possibilities) are really cool

As a passionate k’rrik player I can attest that fleshwrither is busted. 1 card combo w k’rrik on the field to get to draw through your whole deck

My boy fleshwrither-ing for ooze, what a card.
What makes fleshwrither insane in k'rrik is that its a 1 mana combo that doesn't need to cast any further spells to do it's thing, and can be set up at instant speed, and costs 5 total mana to set up.
Have k'rrik out. Play fleshwrither for 2. Transfigure for 1, getting necro ooze. Transfigure nooze for 1 to get balthor the defiled. Activate balthor to return nooze and fleshwrither. Transfigure fleshwrither for 1 to get vile entomber. Entomb asmodeous. Proceed to enjoy paying 3 mana or 6 life to draw 7 cards repeatedly. If you can jam a skirge familiar into field or yard, it turns into discard 3 draw 7. Sheoldred, villis, or aetherflux turn this spicy
Can also Entomb Razaketh to sac Entomber searching Buried Alive to send both Asmodeus and Skirge Familiar

I friggin love Null Brooch! I play it in my red staxx lists. With Welders and Unwinding Clock it really helps protect my board. But it's not something i thought i'd ever see in an Cedh deck. I might just have to build Oswald now😂

I only play casual so basically everything is playable but there are some cards I play, especially in Mairsil, that I'd never play otherwise xD Stuff like this is so fun, special fun little niche cards in their niche decks.

I run Null Brooch in my “casual” Karn, Silver Golem deck, and it’s the best kept secret. No one expects it, even when it’s in play, Clock of Omens makes it repeatable, and I hate having to explain to people that if there’s no cards in my hand, I can discard all none of them to activate it.
I feel like null brooch used to be in Rielle, the Everwise then then they cut it.... but maybe thats why its not on the data base anymore 🤔 🤔🤔🤔

Fleshwrither into nooze(use transfigure on nooze) into blathor. Use balthor to get both back. Then fleshwrither to grab vile entomber(entombing chainer).
I could only think of Rielle the Everwise for Null Brooch but that was from a casual deck. Trying Rielle as a cEDH deck would be pretty fun tho
Eyyyyy I'm not the only Null Brooch enjoyer ! People look at me weird about it, but I enjoy it in casual monoblack decks as one of the few ways to interact with the stack alongside Imp's Mischief. I like it when I have some graveyard stuff setup, especially Haakon, Stromgald Scourge lines

Emerald Charm hard counters the Tymna Wingcrafter combo
I don't think the deck is in the database anymore, but Rielle played Null Brooch because then the effect was 2, {T}: Wheel your hand and counter one noncreature spell!
Null Brooch is good because it says "hand" and not "card," which means you can activate it with zero cards in hand.
Null Brooch is bad because having zero cards in hand is bad. 😢
@cjm8836 you being unable to break a card doesn't mean it's bad. Null Brooch has been used with untap effects like voltaic key in control shells in Vintage/Legacy before. Again, because it says "hand" rather than "card" means you can activate it with no cards in hand.
You have a winning board state, opponent casts Toxic Deluge. Null Brooch.
Put a game winning combo on the stack knowing you can counter a non-creature spell for 2 mana.
Got blown out? Losing? No cards in hand? You can still cast negate (null brooch)...maybe multiple times if you have untap effects.
Once upon a time Commander was just EDH and counters outside of Blue were insanely few and far between, much less colorless options. Karn decks 100% used Null Brooch to defend.
And I haven't even touched decks that play out of the graveyard. Muldrotha? Meren? Trazyn?

Dylan is correct in commonly fleswrither gets ooze as then you have ooze act as freshwrither > get balthor the defiled sac it being both back > tutor twice more for your combo
The reason null brooch is ran in Oswald is in part to combine with an ensnaring bridge after you set up a lock
Jaxis is easily one of my top 3 favorite commanders. She is the fun kind of tricky, and can be incredibly explosive. Her, Elminster, and Rakdos (Lord of Riots) are 3 decks I’ll never tear apart

7:59 Well the first reason why Tymna/Trasios would play wingcrafter over loyal apprentice, is color identity. Wingcrafter is also better because it can be pitched to forces and is searchable by the Eos Twins.
I really liked this. I liked all your podcasts and videos but this was extra fun :) also I just had a thought. Could you design sleeves that are like your blue and purple playmat? Says play to win but are the blue and purple lightning style?

Cam is right, Consider has two huge edges over Preordain, Surveil can be card advantage if you want stuff in your bin, and it's a flipping instant, that MATTERS in control! Card selection is good, but if you really care about the graveyard you'll want the Instant speed Surveil ability over Sorcery speed Scry, you can't hold up your Spell Pierce or Dispel.
Emerald Charm is a SICK card in Codie, remember it can blow up a flipping RULE, a card that is very good at turning off Codie. That said nobody runs Rule so IDK, maybe run Expedite so you can accidentally draw your Naus or Tutor.
I'd like to point out that if you play Null Brooch in a bad enough deck you'll have any empty hand whenever you activate it, so all you've done is pay 6 mana to counter a spell, I used to use it in my weird Vampire deck as wipe protection (the deck already ran Strands of Night and everything had Deathtouch so I have no idea why I was worried about getting wiped). Holy crap, in Oswald it kinda makes sense, but I'd still say it's not a great card. I would have expected Brooch went in that Izzet Discard deck, where you get to draw cards when you discard. Rielle? Yeah, so if you use Brooch on an opponent's turn and have enough recursion in your deck you can be cycling through a ton of cards while making it somewhat harder for people to win since Brooch isn't technically a spell when it's countering something, so it can be very, very annoying if used correctly because they can't counter it back, they have to Deflect it.

Don't feel bad for calling out Zero, the DDB needs to be made aware of this kind of stuff being kind of problematic due to some of their update requirement criteria.

wingcrafter is 100% just part of a "Tymna package" it gets itself and tymna past boards with blockers. its just not common to try and rely on tymna much with how creature heavy everything is atm.
Null brooch with arcane laboratory could be fun ..also with undwining clock.maybe in arcum dagson decks

Not really cEDH anymore, but Null Brooch is also pretty busted in Arcum Dagsson since you can tutor it out & you don't really care about your hand. Good with clock of omens too.

Hatin on the sakadama huh, y'all realize with kodama out, you put out sakashima copying kodama and you get the realm seekers for free, right? Also you then get another 6 or less off the sakadama and then another off the kodama and so on, it just keeps going, it just wins there. Koll card doesn't need dockside, can also use a reducer and a 0 drop creature or the one myr that produces 2 colorless upon death.

I play expedite in Krark/Sakashima. One mana for a chance to draw 2.

I once had a saka/kodama deck with keruga as companion. It ran a lot of copy creature spells, drew the whole deck and then won with lab man.
Did too much solitaire for a fun casual deck and was too consistent so sadly it had to go

Alright, I have to dispute on Enthusiastic Mechanaut. I don't run it in Jhoira. Cost reducers are great, but two colored pips are too much for that effect imo.

Swift reconfig and devoted druid shouldn't work in tayam. Tayam has to remove counters from creatures, swift reconfig makes it a vehicle
Related to the Codie discussion over Emerald Charm: are codie decks not playing Jeskai Ascendancy? I get that it's a permanent, but it seems like Codie is already kinda grindy and getting to storm through your whole deck seems good.
