@@northwestperformancesaws6212 Yeah it's been a great saw. I did loose a screw off the ignition that broke a flywheel fin, but got another flywheel and it's good to go. I'm in NC now, but still go back home to Oregon a couple times a year for wildfire related stuff. Cheers!
I have a question sir, Why do you pull the starter cord before killing the saw? You're the 3rd person I've seen do this with the 288xp, I'd like to know in case I'm killing mine wrong
Hello. Some saws like the old mccullochs and the 288 in the video can suck the starter rope back in when the saw is shut off. To prevent any damage from occurring to the rope, starter or pawls you can pull the starter cord out some to give it a little relief slack. The 288 did suck the rope back some but it wasn't as bad as a few of the old macs that I have. Some of those jerk the recoil back rather violently!
I bought this saw. Nice machine!
Hello Brody. Hope that saw is serving you well! You back out in the eastern part of the country now?

Nice job !!
Sounds like new .How much did u end up spending on ur rebuild ? Very clean job well done
Where can a guy get the full wrap handle. Would it fit the 268 or a 61 series saw? Sweet build bro.
Well aside from ebay, Baileys and Pro Safety both sell 288 full wraps as well as 268 full wraps. A 288 full wrap will not fit a 268.
