    I’m making a temperature snake with my grandson, started on his 10th birthday. He looks up the temperature for each day and records it and the corresponding color, and I’m crocheting the snake. (We’re still working on him learning how to crochet.) We’ve even added the temperatures of the places where he stayed on vacation this summer (with rounds of a neutral color to indicate the days when he was away). It’s been a great activity to do together, talking about the weather and the changes as we go through the weeks. 🦋

    I'm doing a D&D Blanket. Instead of tracking temps, I'm tracking a d20 roll every time I play D&D in 2024. I'm in 5 different games, some weekly and some biweekly, so it should work out to around 200 rows total. I'm making a Moss stitch throw/ small afghan size with this. If someone wanted to do this but doesn't play in nearly as many games, try taller stitches, or multiple rows per dice roll.

    • @KittyQueen010
      @KittyQueen010 9 часов назад

      @heyhey_melissacrochets definitely rows! I think you're right about the squares. I've also determined to use 3 rows for each color. If you know how many rows it'll take to make a blanket with the yarn you're using, take that many rows and divide it by 82. So, the blanket I'll be making is going to 246 rows. I hope that makes sense!

    My current temperature blanket project is a graduation gift for myself! I'm doing a simple Tunisian stitch, and each row represents the same day in my freshman year and senior year. The forward pass is the color from my freshman year and the return pass is from my senior year. While there are so many ends to weave in (I might end up making tassels so I don't have to weave in ends 😂) it's turning out absolutely gorgeous and I cannot wait for it to be done!

    After years of not really understanding the appeal, because I already have a ton of blankets. I finally found a reason when I got married. If documenting that first year to our first anniversary wasn't going to do it, nothing would. Now I've caught the bug. Thankfully there are sibs and friends are having kids whose first years are getting captured in a blanket I hope will last them a long time. This will be my new go to baby blanket project. Even though I can't see them often, I can still send care their ways.

Like the year my son was born, the year I got married, etc.. but to just do one for a year that does not hold a significant value that does not interest me. The lady who is making one for her grandfather was what did it for me.

    I started to make one to track moods a couple years ago, and while I never finished it, it inspired me making a weighted blanket!
    I quickly realized I was not up for weaving in as many ends as a temperature blanket yields, so I made a waffle blanket instead, but still had a ton of yarn left over. I turned it all into i-cord, and knit the i-cord into a little lap blanket on giant needles. Turns out the lap blanket, while small, weighs over 5 lbs. Sooooooo... I bought 40 more skeins and am now in the process of making a 25 lb weighted blanket for my bed.

    I’ve done several temp blankets. My fav was the one I did for my daughter who was born in ‘79. I used the temps for the year she was born in the city she was born. I used a variety of her fav colors. I gave it to her for her birthday. She loved it. I used 4 panels, each one with 3 months. It was gorgeous. I made 2 in 2020 since I had so much time. One was high temps and one was average temps. Those were both C2C with I think 20 clusters a day. They turned out nice too.

    I discovered temperature blankets on your youtube channel in the summer of 2022. I was so excited I decided to do a blanket for our 15th year of marriage. So I started on September 28, 2022 and ended September 27, 2023. I followed your lead and did the tunisian crochet pattern. As soon as I finished I started working on a colorway for my next temperature blanket for 2024. I couldn't decide on what pattern to do next so I showed my hubby what you have done and he chose the granny squares. I am currently starting to think about my next blanket. I am not sure if I will do the 2025 year or go back and make one for the year my son was born, 2009, and give it to him. He does love blankets. They are becoming a comfort project for me also. It makes me smile and happy when I work on my temperature blanket.

    While I love when other people do temperature blankets, I know with how I work in crafts, it would turn into another forever WIP. However, I am thinking of doing a quilt where there would be a square to represent a week. Whether that would be a leaf block to represent the start of fall or a cake block to represent my birthday. It acts as a journal but also it would be for me, a place to learn foundation paper piecing.

    I can't understand my fascination with temperature blankets, because I just cant see caring about the temperature for a full year! But when you mentioned customizations, like sports team records (I like football) or steps - I'm trying to be consistent with a weighloss journey - I feel like...maybe there is a blanket for me! I feel like I want something I can just sit and do - I tend to do a lot of amigurumi and I get tired of having to follow a pattern. I just finished my first continuous granny square blanket and it was great to just ...sit and stitch! I think I'll throw the "temperature" restriction out the window and see what I can come up with for myself!

I’m currently working on a blanket for my son’s dad and when I tell you, I have done two projects that work up quickly and the middle of this because I am tired of working on it. Normally, I carry my crochet everywhere when I go out, but because the blanket has gotten to point where it’s too big to do is that it lives on my bed and I try to work on it every night or at least 2 to 3 times a week

  • @allyg47
    @allyg47 14 часов назад

    I'm crocheting my very first temperature blanket this year and so far, I love it. The only mistakes I've made so far are that the colors I chose are too similar to each other, and, since I'm in Minnesota, the temperatures for July and August are pretty much the same every day. July is only two colors (peach and light pink) and August is three colors (peach, light pink and dark purple). The dark purple is only because my dog died and I wanted to memorialize her by using a unique color for the day she died. If I make a blanket next year, I think I'll choose more colors (instead of doing one color for every 10 degrees, I'll do a different color for every 5 degrees) and I'll use brighter colors that aren't so similar to each other.

    Hi Toni,
    I absolutely love your temperature blankets! Each one has a beauty all its own. However, I see myself making a temperature blanket. I'm more likely to do a scrap blanket first just because I can work with colors as I randomly and blindly pull from my scrap stash. I sort my yarn by brand, weight and fiber as I use them so that the yarn is the same even though the colors differ. For example, any RHSS #4 worsted leftovers I have go in a container together. Then once I have a good amount I'll pull the container and begin stitching. Sometimes solid granny squares sometimes multi colored squares.

    At the initial thought of a temperature blanket, I was not interested. But seeing all of the ways you make it fun and creative has really intrigued me! Going to brainstorm for a while… 🎉

    Oh wow, you figured my name out! Most people just think I smashed random keys on a keyboard to get it :)
    I've been doing a Temperature Snake this year and it's been a lot of fun. I actually like tracking high temperatures and seeing the random patterns they can make via a spreadsheet. Maybe I'm a bit weird in that regard, but it's a been a lot of fun for me. Next year I'm going to try my hand at a Temperature scarf, but I'm still trying to decide how to lay it out. Whether it will be an infinity scarf or a regular scarf. Will each line be a week or month? That sort of thing. Though I didn't think about doing squares and stitching them together. Hmmm, might have to think about that.

    This year I decided to do a temperature banner in the linen stitch. The wall hanging was getting so long, that by the end of the first 6 months I switched it up for the rest of the year. I changed to linen stitch squares, and will sew them together for a patch work quilt with the rest of the year instead. So, I'll use the first 6 months for a wall hanging and the 2nd 6 months as a small quilt. I am enjoying being a part of the Hive, and am enrolled in the Crochet Academy, and enjoy wearing my t-shirts - they are so comfy too.

    I use an excel spreadsheet to record my daily temperatures and use the 'fill' feature to color in the cell with the correct yarn color. Matching the yarn to the cell color is easier than using the names of the colors.

    I'm making a book genre granny square blanket with it divided into months. Each row is a book I've finished and the border of each square is the way I read the most books that month (audiobook, ebook, or physical book)

    Hi Toni👋🏽🧶
    I ❤the temperature projects. They are very unique.
    I started a blanket so many years ago & NEVER finished 😔 & can't find it now 😕. At that time I called it a crochet collage because of ALL the different colors in it.
    I have actually started a temp scarf that I have to find 😂& use the websites that U suggested. Thanks so much!

    Great video. It was fun to see what you were working on, and to hear all about what you are up to. I really, really like the yellow you added to your square. It’s a perfect shade of yellow. I love it.
    I love the concept of the temperature blanket, and I do enjoy seeing what everyone does with theirs, moods, etc. However, I know me, and I know I would quit after a couple of months. I would not be able to sustain the interest in energy to work on one project for the entire year. But I do understand why other people enjoy that kind of thing.
    I have to say I adore your little dog. He is so cute. I lost my two fur babies over his past year, and it has made me so sad. They were with me for very long time and my companion through some very difficult life events. You’re a little guy is just adorable, and I wanted to reach through my iPad and grab him up for a big hug and kiss. That guy has tons of energy.
    Thanks for sharing your blanket with us. It’s fun to see your enthusiasm for this very personal project.
    Love and blessings to you, Sandy, from Cincinnati

    This blanket is going to look SO good when it's done. I'm loving your color choices. Also, if you're putting the tag on the back of each square, why not put it in the center of the square? That way you don't need to try and line it up. Just a thought 😊

    I've never been able to get into temperature blankets, but I am working on a sort of different version of one. I'm using Happy Place Solid & Melange in the same color, but alternating rounds to 31 rounds. I've tried to pick colors to coordinate with each month's birthstone (e.g. Red Delicious for January for Garnet, Aubergine for February for Amethyst, etc). I've found this to be my go-to when I am in between projects or when I just don't feel like working on a current project. ^_^

    Not a temp blanket girlie , however I just discovered the genre blanket! It’s the same concept except instead of temps, you choose your colors for several book genres and add rounds or rows for each different genre you read. I’m thinking of basing the number of rounds or rows on the star rating of the book. For example if it’s a 5 star read then I put in 5 rows/rounds of that color. Still figuring it out but I think I will do this in 2025! 🤞🏾
