- Welcome to this week’s class! This week we will focus on turns and leaps and strengthening our abilities.
SAFETY FIRST!
Equipment needed:
Tight apparel
Hair tied back
Clear large space
Wide wall space for handstands (wear socks)
Long pants / tights
Strength: Cha Cha Plank
Follow along with Jess and Shannon for the correct steps!
Stretching:
5 x Second Straddle Holds
5 x Second L Sit and Pike
Right Leg Lunge
Split on right leg
Left Leg Lunge
Split on left leg
Middle split
Drill 1: Turn Drills
5 x Passe step practice on chair - repeat on each leg (hold for 5 seconds)
5 x Passe step practice balancing off the chair - repeat on each leg (hold for 5 seconds)
5 x 1/2 Turn practice supporting on a raised surface - repeat on each leg (hold for 3 seconds)
Drill 2: Turn Drills in the centre
3 x 1/2 turns using arms (Variation of arm positions) - repeat on each leg
Challenge: Arm Snaps
Try and complete the turn in the middle of the room and snap your arms
Drill 3: Leap Drills
3 x Kicks on each leg in parallel - kick to the front, side and back
3 x Leap Lead Ons - Kick your leg up, spring onto it, stretch your back leg into the air when you land - repeat on each leg
Repeat your 3 x leap lead ons in the centre - focus on your balance!
Try leaping through 2 chairs to check your balance and make sure you done touch them!
Challenge: Leap Lead Ups
Try and see how many leap lead ons you can do in a row! Make sure you change legs each time! To make it even harder, try and do this challenge with your arms out instead of on your hips!
