  • Episode 2: Terry Reid
    Host: ET
    Guest Bartender: Banjo
It is true that I stalked Terry Reid almost 20 years ago. I first heard about him from his connection to Led Zeppelin and then fell in love with his voice and songs. Fortunately, he didn't hold it against me and we are still friends today. He has opened for The Rolling Stones (once when he was 15), hung out with Jimi Hendrix and has had his songs covered many including, Crosby, Stills & Nash, John Mellencamp and Jack White. He has really done it all and it is such a treat to listen to his stories.
Come find out why, in 1968, Aretha Franklin famously said, "There are only three things happening in England: The Beatles, The Rolling Stones and Terry Reid."
Amazing Portland Bartender, Banjo, will be making a cocktail for show. Here is the recipe if you'd like to make it with him.
    Southern Accents
    ------------------------------
    2 oz Jack Daniels Rye
1 oz Coffee infused Carpano Antica vermouth *
Combine ingredients in mixing glass with cracked ice, stir approx 20-30 seconds, strain into chilled coupe glass or martini shell.
Garnish with a delicious Dirty Sue Whiskey Cherry.
    *Coffee Vermouth
    750ml Carpano Antica vermouth
    375grams whole coffee beans
Combine in airtight container and let sit for at least 24hrs and up to 48hrs. Strain off beans and discard. Bottle vermouth and store in the fridge for up to 3 months.
Terry Reid: Terry started his music career in the 1960's as a teenager. In 1968, Aretha Franklin famously said, "There are only three things happening in England: The Beatles, The Stones and Terry Reid." He introduced Jimmy Page to Robert Plant. He toured with The Stones and played The Isle of Wight Festival on the same bill with The Doors, The Who, Joni Mitchell and Jimi Hendrix. To say his career path has been unconventional would be an understatement. The good news is that even in his '70's, Terry Reid still music in his soul.
Benjamin "Banjo" Amberg: Banjo is a great bartender and music lover. He lives in Portland and has a record collection that is the envy of many friends - myself included. He can serve a delicious cocktail and then dive deep into music on so many levels. There is a lot to love about Banjo.
    -----------------------------------------
ET: @superhypellc - ET is the U.S. Ambassador for Jack Daniel's and the Founder/Owner of the Dirty Sue Brand of premium olive juice, garnishes and mixes. He spent more than two decades behind bars at some famous and more often infamous spots in LA - most recently, a long run at Jones Hollywood - where he has made lifelong friends, started his company, got his current gig and most importantly met his wife. "A great drink can change your mood. A great bar can change your life." His love for music, whiskey and people led him to start Rock On The Rocks.

    *SUPERLUNGS documentary-NEEEEEDS-to-be-made* !!
Mr. Reid is 71 . . . it is time!! 'The World' needs to hear all his songs
    and stories.
I am sad that with allll the many wealthy musicians n' such that have
been so lucky to have Terry play with them, from age 15 with the Stones,
I feel musicians absolutely need to pay it forward.

Tinker Tailor is still one of my favorite tracks from late 60's, and to hear him call it stupid just amazes me, even Jimi dug it

Sorry, hadn’t gotten to the interview where Terry mentions it immediately. My brother used to go see him play there as well. Pretty sure he was there when Plant got up.
