I stayed here 4yrs ago, love the unique room interior, funky lobby, beautiful spa even the breakfast quite good and reasonable for 4Star hotel. Enjoy chilling at beach club at nite. Didnt even know the secret pool and yoga place! My room has nice pool and garden view. For the price I think this is great in buzzing Seminyak.
What a delightful palate cleanser after the Jumeirah debacle 🤗 I never expected to write this, but I actually quite enjoyed the eclectic style 🤭 At least they made more of an effort than the quite bland and pretentious Jumeirah (fake temple alert) that had hardly interesting grounds (green, green and more green). I fully agree this is not for everybody, but a least they are making an effort! Thank you Kevin for this lovely review, you have inspired me to go and visit and have a look at it myself 🥳 especially now Bali is getting less busy again 😅
Come to think of it, Iif the rooms themselves were like 20% less eclectic, I think overall it would work better. All of the common areas do certainly set the tone, I just wish the tone didn’t continue in the room I guess haha. But yes you are right, anything compared to the Jumeirah is a delight 😅 Thanks as always for your support 🙏🏻
That beach sand may have been dredged…what makes me think that is the abundance of beach and the grey color. Better sand than no sand of course. Thanks for your review. It confirmed my expectations exactly!
In a past life I worked for IHG Head Office in regional Corporate Account Management, also for Corporate Sales in a Holiday Inn in London and in a cluster with a Hotel Indigo in Londen. I personally love the Hitel Indigo brand with the (over)loads of details, but understand its a personal and not to everyone's taste. Great and honest review, love the overall feel of the place, and it's relative smoothness. Was in the area of Seminyak in may/June , and indeed Bali is nearly in full swing again. Looking forward to the next reviews!
I mean, is it really a holiday at a luxury resort if you’re not squeezing your own OJ in the morning?? Nice crib, decent price and I like your idea of splitting a stay on Bali between this and a more luxurious resort. Nice video 😊
Don’t know I missed your review! We just got back from staying here and only watched it now. You hit the nail on the head where there’s just something missing. They were pretty strict on us taking food from the buffet for our baby when I’ve heard other places are a lot more relaxed.
Yeah I get the feeling that the Indigo brand in general is a stretch for a resort. As a resort it feels like a dressed up Holiday Inn Resort which just isn't a sentence that inspires greatness lol.
Somehow this hotel give me the same vibes as InterContinental Phuket, one Thai one Balinese, both trying to reach Heaven and Earth in the local context, love all your hotels reviews ! ❤
An homage of curios and curiosities. I'm trying to be a minimalist but as long as the clutter belongs to somebody else I'll happily play along for a night perusing the collection.
Haha that is a very good point. I just see all of the clutter and (from as former food service operator) imagine all of the dusting that needs to be done to pass Ecosure inspections 😂
I've stayed at this hotel 3 times now. You are right, it's a great base if you're out and about, which we always are. If you wanted to just laze about in a resort, you'd probably pick something a bit bigger with more dining options. I love the vibe and the little trinkets everywhere. Just makes it feel individual.
I have thought of it to the extent that many people have asked about it over the years- but I'll get straight to the point and say, no, I have no interest (or time)... 😂
I absolutely love your reviews, they are always refreshingly honest and with your great eye for detail and nuance they are a joy to view. Would i stay at Indigo? No. Did I find this review informative? 100%
Thanks for another great review! Absolute agree with you on the 10 day trip budgeting. Looking forward to Oberoi Bali review if you stay there sometime in the future!
An excellent video as always! All that stuff omg...but it looks like a cheerful and relaxed hotel. It would be difficult to clean properly around so many items and keep the dust and mould away 😅
Kevin, just stayed at the hotel and rewatched your video. Just to clarify one point, the Japanese menu for dinner that you are showing is for Sugarsand rather than Makasse
Perhaps it has changed since I was there then, not sure. When I had dinner at Sugarsand, my only option was the menu I showed, hence my teeny tiny baby chicken 😅 Thanks for watching 🩴
See, this is why I turn my CC on. Now I know how to spell ‘tchotchke’ as well (after Googling the definition, of course). While I do think that there’s a lot going on at the lobby, I’m glad that the rest of the hotel is not as tchotchke. I’ve passed the hotel a few times before so I can say that without all the tchotchkeness, the hotel’s just going to be just another regular, cookie-cutter resort in Bali. Yes, I’m going to abuse the word tchotchke from now on. I think the hotel is a very reasonable choice for Seminyak, and the main selling point here is definitely the shower with balcony access 😁
10 day trip hotel room allotment you gave is interesting. Depending on how far one flew, it’s worth considering just staying 5 days at “The Best” (not that it’s always easy to predict what is the best…so you’re really helping so many with that!) Day 6 is often when it’s still fun, meaning the perfect time to leave! Being there too long and missing home, for me at least, can make most places lose their shine.
Fair enough, but as someone who lives abroad and also spends 50% of the year on the road, I don't have quite the same "time to go home" strings pulling lol. For me, moreso than how far a locale is, I'd say how likely I was to ever go back would be a big determining factor. Bangkok? 1 night will be fine since I'll be back 5 times a year... Bhutan? I'll need my full multi-property stay lol.
@@tfft Since you know Bangkok, would love your insight in why the king bed in the Intercontinental Bangkok seemed large/wide enough for 4 adults to sleep side-by-side without touching?
Likely 2 Double XLs pushed together? ‘King’, ‘Queen’, ‘Double’ aren’t the actual terms used in Southeast Asia for bed sizes- outside of the hotel industry or someone who’s traveled a lot abroad… when the terms are used here they usually follow the Australian sizes which are smaller than in the US. Here we just refer to them by their size: 140, 160, 180(cm), etc. So, often ‘King Bed’ here isn’t a specific size but rather ‘the biggest bed…’
Never had l heard of the word "tchotchke," nor would l have known how to spell it 😅 well done you. I absolutely fell in love with this resort, l appreciate balcony's being a bit bigger and more usable, not fussed by the no beach front because it was easily accessible and looked like Bali is pumping again so l liked the atmosphere of the public beach. The breakfast buffet looked fantastic for a mid range resort and the price you paid l would absolutely stay here based on your review. BTW what's an orange press? 👍
Made me want to look it up more haha. Apparantly it's a very New York regional thing (Yiddish/Slavic in origin) and can also be spelt: tchatchke, tshotshke, tshatshke, tchachke, tchotchka, tchatchka, chachke, tsotchke, chotski, or chochke 😂 On the right side of the mini bar, next to the cocktail kit is... an orange... press... orange juicer maybe? haha the thing that presses oranges 😅
Look’s definitely set up for recovery from big nights out nice enough but not my personal cup of tea, I was surprised by the lack of seating around the property
I was in the same hotel this August. Now I am curious 🍿 Edit: Spot on. I was there for 7 days and it felt too long for me. 4 days would have been perfect. I agree with everything you said especially with the service and overall quality. I personally booked this hotel because of the the beach access and rather fair price. Many other hotels with beach access around Seminyak cost significantly more.
Wow, we stayed here 4 years ago and did not know there is a beach access, I guess we are too busy with tour excursion. Bought IHG points to booked this place and save few dollars.
I chuckled when reading your mention of the beach! I think it pretty much proves my theory on the priorities of guests staying here 😅 Thanks for watching 🩴
Seriously now: to me it seems nice! And quite affordable... question: is there (in your memory) a comparable place, maybe a little more "secluded" (a little more greenery and maybe with private beach) laid down in nice layout and awesome breakfast/buffet choices with such comparable price? Maybe one of those resorts recently reviewed in Vietnam? Suggestion: other than "the best" it could be useful to have a listing/playlist of those whose price/performance ratio is top and also some divided for average price rates.. (I know that your channel is about "a certain level" of structures and appropriate price, but also a "price minded" selection could be useful... I sincerely cannot remeber every review, even if I have watched and commented all the latest since I subscribed...😅)

I think the problem with Indigo within IHG is that it was developed to be one thing and now it’s trying to be something else very different. Voco I agree is more consistent, but that’s more to do with it being a newer brand than IHG’s brilliant plans.
