I was lucky that I had the chance to attend to the performance of the 3rd piano concerto by Rachmaninov played by Berezovsky. It was an intense experience...he is a true virtuoso but can also be very emotional and intimate. Bravo!

Great performance!! Thanks for posting this. Heard him in concert at Wyastone playing Moussorgsky "Pictures" which was truly memorable. This is even better!!
Great work by a great performer. I’m surprised more people didn’t complain about the camera work: I’m quite unaccustomed to watching a piano concerto from under the soloist’s left elbow.
Wonderful playing! Very balanced, inspired and especially in p parts beautifully structured. I really don't care if a Pianist makes some mistakes (Horowitz...), I rather hear profound interpretations.
Although Berezovsky is well known for his technical aspects, and I also have heard about that, but i have actually been impressed by his sensitive expressions, especially in 3rd, and 4th movements. A few miss-notes here, those are not matters at all.
Wow, this is actually one of the most musical, well thought-out interpretations I've heard Berezosky play. Of course, one never needs worry about his more than ample technique even for a monstrous concerto like Brahms 2. There's a few bloopers here and there too. I don't think Boris is as accurate a player as he used to be. Once you have a big career going, it is hard to sometimes still put the effort in that is needed to play these huge works at a very high level of accuracy.
They plays infinitely better and much more Brahmsian than Barenboim with Celibidache. The phrasing is just breathing. Just great. The sound engineering is also very differentiated and clear as if I hear this in concerthall. Great orchestra and great conductor too. What is his name?
Level of Barenboim as a concerto piano player nothing to do with Boris' performance, Even neither any other great piano performer nowadays. Barenboim is now a great orchestra director although I appreciate Barenb.. very very much as a musician and h

Boris Berezovsky looks very much like Graham Chapman of Monty Python fame. (Sorry for being so trifling, but these things must be mentioned). -- Go to 5:43 to cut to the chase.

Very echoey, resonant dynamic for the Concertgebouw. Needs more clarity. Piano too remote and missing the "chamber music" aspect. Microphone placement not good.
I clicked the "LIKE" button here, but Zimmerman with Bernstein play it MUCH better! ZIMMERMAN gives more sound, even the beginning passages are super brilliant, nobody does them like Zimmerman!

@@RaineriHakkarainen For this huge Brahms piano concert: first place to Sokolov, second to Berezovski, then Lisieckij and Pollini. I cant stand Richter in any author, in any music: he's to hard, in my opinion....
He makes some dreadful blurred and unmusical noises sometimes and suffers a complete lapse of memory at 21.18-20. To my ears, on RUclips, Barenboim'/Celibidache is a far more musical and Brahmsian performance.
Barenboim/Celibidache is leaden and much too ff too much of the time. As for blurring, Brahms's score is full of indications that is exactly what he wants, not a succession of hammer blows.

This concerto, performance, one day will become legendary.
Absolutely. Then Berezovsky still was a committed hard working musician. Nowadays he is fat and lazy and complacent.
Beautiful hands and fingers style. That's super technique is amazing, I love it.
Heard Boris in recital 10 years ago and he was terrific then, Even better now. Great performance, such colour and joy!!

What a charming man. Don't miss the interview.
What a performance!!! Bravo to soloist and orchestra alike! Thanks for posting this.
an outstanding performance with rarely played Brahms by the pianist
It's a difficult concerto, played somewhat similarly by manyone, but this is original and frigin awesome.
Well, he loves Brahms, and his Brahms is really the best.

Why in the world did they leave the music rack on?
There is always a danger of a string snapping, however unlikely. The rack help prevent getting whipped in the face.

Touch tone is bit too heavy !! Otherwise it is good concert !!

He doesn't look anything like Graham Chapman, but he does look a lot like Matt Le Tissier - and is nearly as great a genius
I like that 80's haircut. Such a handsome guy and Olympian musician
