Absolutely. Then Berezovsky still was a committed hard working musician. Nowadays he is fat and lazy and complacent.

I was lucky that I had the chance to attend to the performance of the 3rd piano concerto by Rachmaninov played by Berezovsky. It was an intense experience...he is a true virtuoso but can also be very emotional and intimate. Bravo!

    Grazie ❤

Wow, this is actually one of the most musical, well thought-out interpretations I've heard Berezosky play. Of course, one never needs worry about his more than ample technique even for a monstrous concerto like Brahms 2. There's a few bloopers here and there too. I don't think Boris is as accurate a player as he used to be. Once you have a big career going, it is hard to sometimes still put the effort in that is needed to play these huge works at a very high level of accuracy.

He makes some dreadful blurred and unmusical noises sometimes and suffers a complete lapse of memory at 21.18-20. To my ears, on RUclips, Barenboim'/Celibidache is a far more musical and Brahmsian performance.

Barenboim/Celibidache is leaden and much too ff too much of the time. As for blurring, Brahms's score is full of indications that is exactly what he wants, not a succession of hammer blows.
