    Great video. I've been using Ropieee on various Raspberry pi's for several years now. It does a fantastic job. Very stable and usable. Plus Harry, the software's author does an incredible job of supporting and updating Ropieee. He's is always monitoring the Ropieee forum at the Roon forum community.

    Exactly what I was looking for.
    I have a couple of questions though:
    1) is there a way to set up multiples of these roooopies throughout the house and connect those to my media server to stream my local library?
    2) can you suggest an accessible entry level DAC that is similar to a USB Type-C DAC for mobile phones?
    3)Is there a daughterboard DAC?

    Great video.
    For anyone with Volumio free version with external hdd attached with their music libary, Roon and Roon ARC allows to stream from the PI HDD while volumio is still running. Guessing Ropiee you would be able to do the same!

      @@Gabster1 Thank you for guiding me on this wonderful, but challenging IanCanada adventure. I've jumped in deep, started with Flagship FIFO, SCpure, DualMono, OPA861, UCpure Quad, 3) PurePi so far... Very beautiful sounds and thanks to you!!

      @@AverageNiceGuy Nice that is exactly what I usually recommend building a Streamer/Dac not just a streamer.
      and yes it does sound great glad you got hear it for yourself :)

    I am just curious, have you ever had a hearing test to check your frequency response of your ears?

    never tested Roon before, always used volumio so far

    So wait, if i do what is described in this video - the result will be useless because i still have to install roon core on some other computer to actually use this?

    • @Gabster1
      @Gabster1  11 месяцев назад

      Yes you will need 1 Roon Core and buy a Roon subscription this is to setup a RPI roon end point.

    Hey gabby, why is using a LAN cable better than using wifi in a raspberry pi? Doesn't LAN cable also introduce noise and jitter in the pi?

    • @Gabster1
      @Gabster1  11 месяцев назад +1

      Direct LAN is preferred for DACs over wireless due to stability, lower latency, higher bandwidth, consistent speed, reduced jitter, and better security. Some raspberry pi have poor reception and often the WiFi router need to be close by. You can experiment with both some prefer wireless.

      @@Gabster1 Thank you for your response :) you are awesome! I actually want to output the data stream from the pi via usb and into an adum3165 based isolator then into a xmos based crystek reclocker then into my DAC. So i need to test this with wifi. I have also seen some really cheap boxes which convert the LAN to optical fiber and back into LAN for the pi. Could this be a viable solution?
