Check out how much water moves back from under that front door at 0:35 and again at 3:30 - I must say this is a fantastic vid beginning to end. Those waves were as high as those houses.

I was walking along the sea front and eating in the Start bay inn,and the next day got my chips and the boat house in the summer of last year(2013).Its a gorgeous part of the world, the walk from slapton to start point is such a fantastic sight..lets hope the deminish of hallsands wont happen all over again..I know that was partly due to dredging for shingles, but the sea,as we have seen is just a horrific sight when she's in a mood..

i am quite happy that i live 400m above sealevel!! sealevel is expected to rise by 50-80 cm within the next 50 years or so. people living on the coasts will then have a problem!

Put some replacable walls on the existing seawalls. You can put them on when needed. Look at the German river walls.

On Google earth there is a beech where the sea has now exposed the rocks.

One of those sea front pubs in Torcross has (or used to have) black and white photgraphs from the 1900's showing the waves going over its roof. This is not the worst that Torpoint has seen!

***** Should have been called 'son of fukushima'. The contamination and heating and added nuclear energy now entering the Pacific Ocean will generate extreme weather, just as Filipino typhoon haiyan killing 6000 people. The price of an out of control nuclear power program. I have never looked into chemtrails although I know they are bad, but I think nuclear contamination is far more likely in this particular case. Google 'On Fukushima Beach'. Four films 1, 2, 3 and 4. John Wantling, Rochdale, UK.

I cant help feeling that if the top of the sea wall had been made to curve back on itself somehow or a had flat top overhang back toward the sea, then most of those waves travelling up the sloped area wouldn't have breached the sea wall.

Spent many happy holidays in Torcross at The Argosy, Mrs Tucker and that was before the sea wall was built. Step out of the front door and directly on the beach. Saw previous pictures of devastation, prior to the construction of the new wall.

When Gabriel stands on sea and shore. Nice bit of camera work, should be seeing more storms so go through your winter clothes and make sure you are prepared for the worst.
