I'm glad you said what you did about how conventions are changing. I can't believe how many vendors are just on their phones, ignoring everyone passing by

Hi! This video is a few months old so I’m not sure if you’ll see this. But I’m 16 and am brand new to all of this!
I’ve always loved drawing and writing, but when I thought of comics, I thought they all had that super-hero style. obviously, I was very wrong 😂 when I discover this, I started thinking about making my own comic! But the whole idea seemed intimidating and I was afraid I wouldn’t be able to finish this huge long comic book. I clicked on this video.. and my eyes have been opened to the world of MINI COMICS!! I grabbed a bunch of supplies and am now starting my first ever mini comic!! 😂😂 let’s hope this turns out well

I'm going to be signing up to sell art at a convention soon, and this inspired me to maybe make some small comics to sell or trade if I make it in.
Although what you were saying about people selling comics not being engaging enough at times, they might have social anxiety, a quiet voice, low confidence, or are simply introverted.
Because people don't always hear my quiet voice I think that being a convention artist and comic artist could be a great way to share what I'm about while I'm still learning to be loud in this noisy world. ☺

Just as an alternative point of view:
Introverts exist. Sometimes, the terror of just being behind the table is enough to *appear* non-engaged, when it's really just that you're out of spoons. Zines themselves are good ways to share with people when even the thought of being in a large group of people gives you the willies. It may not be snobbiness; it may well be a different way of interacting with the world, and I'm glad that zinefests are inclusive of *all* types of people.
(Also, and I say this gently, the comment about people not interacting with you even if you're dropping a significant amount of money is kind of...off. You're buying the work, not the life of the creator. It's a bonus when someone gives freely of their time, for sure, but to me, it seems like the boundaries of the transaction are the goods you're buying, y'know?)

OMG, homemade Zines are high production value but are made with very low low budget....
Let's face it, some Zines are more interesting to get than those regular magazines sold in supermarkets, news stand, etc...
Zines are fun to look at....

Those look like fun projects to do. I'm currently making a full 22 page comic, but I am inspired to try mini comics like the ones shown in the video after I'm done with my current project.
