  • Lt. Gen. Jerry Useni was the last officer to see Gen. Sani Abacha alive before he died. Back in 1998 after General Sani Abacha’s death, Lt. Gen. Jeremiah Useni was the most senior military officer in the Nigerian Army, and was normally supposed to take over the reign of power.
However, as a close ally and friend of the late General, Useni's aspirations were thwarted by intense political intrigues and power play.
The rest, they say, is history!
This is the story of Gen. Jeremiah Useni, the last man to see General Sani Abacha alive but failed to succeed him.
It’s a story of intrigues and betrayal.

Interesting part for me is that he was sidelined but he did not border. Very simple man. God bless him. Others would have caused problems everywhere. Great job sir as always.

People tend to forget how terrible and power-drunk Lt.Gen. Useni was. He was part of the infamy of Abacha regime so no tears were shed when it was all over.

    • @HispleMedia
      @HispleMedia  Месяц назад +1

But he was in the shadows na... Apart from being Abacha's friend did he actually played any key role in the activities of the regime? Considering that he was not in the military hierarchy (in terms of holding military position of authority). As minister he never really had a part to play in the activity of the military. This may be on paper though and am not saying you are wrong either. Thanks for watching

Point of correction Lt.Gen Useni was first Minister of Transport under Abachas government before being made FCT Minister after Gen Abacha reshuffled with late Gen Gumel becoming the Minister of Transport afterwards.

Not correct, Useni replaced Gen. Gado Nasko as FCT Minister once Abacha took over in Nov 1993. Check.

We all know that if you’re not a Muslim in Nigeria political system you have lower chance of ruling Muslim for example, last Nigeria presidential election showed us that a Muslim have much chance of wining presidential election either by selection that has been the system way of selecting political appointments or election by selection.
The system was never fair to a Christian that’s all. Abacha was killed by the identified white man who came with Arafat.
Abacha had the most secured intelligent security ever in Nigeria president guard till date. Mahn was aware of his own guards that his job before entering power. No linkage in his security except getting close to him and touching him if allowed that’s how he was killed.
Abacha is still my favorite president of Nigeria.

All I will say is Nigeria is a fast pace advanced country. And my advice to anyone who has the ambition of ruling Nigeria is for them to know when to leave office. The difference between the Presidents that died in office and the ones that did not die in office is. The ones that died in office had the ambition to rule forever. Nigeria is too open eyed for that, Nigerians will tolerate you when you first emerge has leader, but after a few years you need to know when to leave to give someone else the chance of ruling. If you show intentions to stay on longer than expected they will get rid of you

@@HispleMedia I av no substantial evidence to that, I only related the event according to your narration. If Abacha was the head of state at the time and OB's life was attempted to twice and in the narration OB also thought Yaradua might have also gone in same circumstance then later died. One can meritily attributes same situation to Yaradua caused of death. Thank you.

I knew General Husseini well. I was friends with his son, Danjuma, who got expelled from NMS for slapping a military instructor. This son later died in a plane crash.
Going by his personality, General Husseini had absolutely no interest in leading Nigeria. He was more suited as a barracks soldier and content with being behind the scenes. He was happy as long as he had access to alcohol every night, a safe full of foreign currency (some of which his son often stole and spent at Nicon Noga Hilton Hotel), and a supply of young women for his entertainment.
These generals lived like gangsters and thugs. They cared only about their pleasure. Nothing else.
