The AI gap with higher performance women makes sense. I'm male, but I have the same suspicion of AI. My reputation depends on my excellence, which means I take my professional abilities very seriously. While I use AI to save time (especially transcription and grammar tools), I find that generative AI tools are just too unreliable to risk my reputation on, so I use them very sparingly. I imagine for high performance women, who have to work much harder to earn and maintain their reputation, genAI is particularly risky. Whereas for lower performance, which suggests less diligence in controlling the factors of performance, genAI is a useful shortcut.
