    I think these 20%and 30% coffee butters would be so amazing compared to the 3%to 10% you have to buy. It makes it far more reasonable to experiment with coffee butter now. 😊

    Made 2 versions of oil 1-olive and one hazelnut , and a Shea/coffee butter with the olive version. Now I’m going to try either a mango or cocoa butter … but which one 🤔 I bet coffee & cocoa would smell delightful.

      I make a mocha lotion with coffee oil and cocoa butter, smells amazing. I let the grounds settle out and don’t use the sludge for that application.

    Love this series. I agree all the fancy infused butters are way to expensive. Now I am going to go experiment and play more with coffee.

But I've been making my own whipped body butter with shea for years, and you've just given inspiration to up my game. Going to change from just shea to coffee... Ooooohhhh I'm sooooo excited, thanks for your awesomeness 🤗🤗♥️

    To the first recipe using shortening...you can add lard, or coconut oil, palm or cocoa butter to add the firmness.

    I’m contemplating using meadowfoam or rosehip for the infusion. I live how they each feel, but rosehip doesn’t soak into the skin quite like meadowfoam.

    The first video I saw on how to make coffee butter; the maker infused the coffee grains directly into the shea butter but I never tried it as I was kind of weary of the shea butter being grainy. I will use your method instead.

    • @RisaL-13

      I’m trying this method with mango butter, just to see what happens. Hopefully I can strain out all the grounds before the mango starts to harden. I tried using a coffee filter in one trial and cheesecloth in another to hold the grounds but I think they are keeping all the oils from the beans from getting into my infusion oils.

    Quick question...how should this be on the label? Just " coffee butter" or each individual component?

    • @MrsSoapAndClay
      @MrsSoapAndClay  Год назад +5

      I mean, I think we would just label it “coffee butter” if we purchased it but I feel like the MSDS info should be used and labeled according to what the butter is actually comprised of. It DOES bother me that such a pricey product with huge label appeal is actually made out of shortening. So maybe coffee butter with its components in parentheses? Or just the components - coffee oil, etc

    • @MsAubrey
      @MsAubrey Год назад

      I would do the parentheses like Mrs suggested.

    Love it! But now if you're using homemade coffee butter in soap, how do you determine its SAP number so you can calculate the amount of lye needed -- by the SAPs of the oil used for the infusion and then the butter used to make the final butter and the quantities used of each?

      @@MrsSoapAndClay Oh DUH! I'm bingeing your wonderful coffee-themed videos right now, and I guess I got ahead of myself. (Just stopped to have dinner!) I *totally* agreed that the commercial coffee butters out there are outrageously priced considering their ingredients. And thank you, thank you, THANK YOU for taking the time and effort to do all of these instructional videos on how to DIY!!!! I'm late to the party, but I'm going to try to catch up quickly.

    Can you use the shea butter for the infusion, instead of a liquid oil? (If I do it up in a double boiler for example)

  • @Skawski1
    @Skawski1 Год назад

    Soooo……can you just infuse the cocoa butter from the beginning with the coffee? I’m assuming no since you didn’t do that?
    Can you infuse coconut oil? Or any oil that’s an oil that can be heated to the 120 degrees?
    What ratios of coffee to oil? I would assume that the more coffee the stronger, but at a point it could be wasted?
    Sorry for kinda mixed the previous video with this one. Hope it all makes sense.
