I throw a lot of my fish back (trout, bass, steelhead, etc...) but I don't know how we got to the point where we have to apologize for taking a couple fish for dinner. Commercial fisherman kill way more than the average person eating a couple for dinner. Don't apologize for it, just enjoy your meal!!

Hi Jordan , thanks for the fish taco recipe! I love fish tacos. Here is a recipe I have used for smallmouth... take some salt and vinegar potato chips and crush them down small crumbs season your fish crack an egg into a bowl , dip the fillet into the egg roll it in the salt & vinegar crumbs and fry it up. I hope you enjoy !!

Great video again! I love fish tacos made with small bass, perch, crappie, blue gill, etc. If they are legal to keep, eat away! In the big river, smallies are a non-native species that eats out migrating salmonid smolts, it's a win/win. Cool video, as always!

Glad I waited till the end. I was going to stop and write up how to do the cheesy tortillas for tacos. I do a bunch of little corn tortillas on the flat top, squish them down until the cheese is coming out the edge. One additional thing I do is flip them and fry the other side of the tortilla in the cheese oil. I still maintain that corn tortillas are superior for tacos, but it takes some practice to get them where they don't fall apart too easily.

As long as it’s a legal take then by all means. I personally don’t eat warmwater fish but Smallmouth are a bit more on the cooler side so why not. It only hurts when you take home a nice sized Bass above your state average that are hard to come by (5lbers in Midwest). Not only do the smaller minimum size fish taste better, it’s beneficial for the bigger population to not get stunted in growth within a water body. With these Bass being one of the top predators of the water, they need a predator too to control their numbers.

oh hey jordan. which of those weighted floats do you suggest for stocker trout here on te eastcoast? they are usually from 10 to 18ish inches and in roughly 4 to 6 feet of water.
we use 4-6lb test if any of that helps.

So for the bass you ate, what is the current consumption advisory regarding mercury levels? Looks like adult men can consume more meals of them per month if the fish were under the Oregon advisory umbrella if you will. IMO too bad they are here and eating part of the niche pie of other aquatic fish, etc. Maybe somebody already rose the mercury issue?
