The thing about Finnish solitude is that it's liberating. Finns shy away from a lot of social norms as is as they don't really do small talk, they respect your private space and they don't mind the silence at all, but they are absolutely some of the most communal/hospital people out there provided you respect their culture.
Makes one wonder why the elected gov. decided to join NATO?
Except for the millions of mossies in summer.
In what world, is respecting someone’s private space, not the social norm?
@@anthonyproffitt5341 unfortunately in most places I've been to these days :(
@@ancymonek1984 in the middle of a bustling city I can see. My experience is that even in populated areas you can find peace if you know where to look. People rarely pry unless you are open in social settings.
It's obvious alone and lonely are 2 different things. I've been alone since my wife passed but I only feel lonely on occasion. Doing what you love brings riches many people never realize. In your travels, Eva, you have met some of the wealthiest people on earth. Beautiful post.
Agree. Loneliness and solitude are two different things
I dont know how this translates....in German we have einsam = lonely and allein = alone. You also can say: All Eins = United with the universe. I love this.
@@johannakuster1564 this works in english too! :) alone = all one 💗
Where does there power come from
Agreed.
Alone means peace, quiet and stress-free to me. But well yes I'm from Finland😉.
You have to be ok with yourself and your thoughts to fully enjoy solitude.
Hello Eva. Thanks so much for taking me to meet Janita; I thought I lived an 'off the grid' lifestyle as a self employed musician (I live very frugally) but she was amazing. All the Sami people in your vlogs seem to have a serenity about them; a sense of being at peace with themselves; happy within their own skin. Thank God the same people have survived. Pete Glyde
I love Juanita so much! What she said she went through is exactly what a small business owner does typically go through, and then to go out and prove them wrong, you go girl!! Wishing her much success and lots of visibility from this video so she stays busy. The reindeer and scenery are so beautiul.
Honestly, you don't need a van. If you did get a van, you'd miss Odysessy so much! So stick with her. And sunrises, especially after a snow, are so beautiful, peaceful, quiet, and the absolute best!
I think her name is Jenita
@@halla5980 No her name is Janita
She is true embodiment of "SISU"!
This modern world has turned natural peace into a premium. All your vids are so beautiful.
I sometimes hate the world for it
As a Finn i found myself talking to my monitor "you need to sit on the top bench and throw water on the stones" while you went to sauna 😄
As a Swede, I agree! :D
@@johalunas a german, I agree!
It´s also mandatory to be completely naked in german saunas (mixed gender also) and to sit/lay on a towel (no sweat on the wood) :D
As someone who played My Summer Car, I agree!
Ewa , sorry but changing the subject……as a doglover myself I
have been observing you evolving relationship with Vilk. You mentioned when you got him that you had never had a dog before😮 well it seems to me that your relationship is excellent. You have found an excellent balance between fun and discipline. And you have achieved much more than I have with my little rescue from Portuguese dog shelters.❤❤❤ You and Vilk still have many wonderful years together 😊
As a Canadian, I also agree however. You must substitute an equal amount of maple syrup and beer for the water that you throw on the rocks. Sure it gets a little sticky, but that's what the hot tub is for. 😉
I read a book in the 1970's called Zen And The Art Of Motorcycle Maintaneance (it wasn't about bike maintence, i was a story of a guy - Robert Prisic, taking his son on a tour around America with his thoughts and philosophy). One observation he made in the book was people who live in dense comuinities like cities have small distances between them but huge emotional distance from each other. On the other hand, people who live a long way from their neighbours with lots of space appear to be much closer emotionaly. Your experiance seems to go along with that idea!
Oh gosh Yes... .Zen and The Art of Motorbike Maintenance..
Obligatory reading in the 1970's...
So many fond memories being young that decade..😊
@@shooster5884 Who said anything about not still being young now! 😎😆
@@paulpm57 👍😂...
Very true having lived in both.
Great book.
Oh my goodness, Eva, this episode is so special! I love how kind the people of Finland are. Thank you so much for sharing your travels with us! You open the world to people living with physical disabilities, like myself, who may never visit such places yet could live vicariously through your experiences 💖
I really enjoy watching this channel specifically for the lack of drama. Nothing but good vibes.
Sometimes, this old man sees something that brings a tear to his eye. You took me back +30 yrs to my 10 acres and small house 25 miles north out of town into the northern Minnesota wilderness. Where snow was just as deep and the cold was noticeably further below zero Fahrenheit. No reindeer, but sled dogs were popular. I think the reindeer are better suited with their feet like snowshoes. Plus, you only need one instead of 6 or 8. It's a great life for sure.
You're giving Vilk an amazing life! Bravo!
Do love how much of a help Vilk is in the kitchen! Obviously he is the head chef making sure the recipes are followed properly. We'll done chef Vilk.
Eva..thank you for taking me back to Finlandia..I have traveled in this area with my husband in winter. Yes,definitely cold but magical. Finland is home for us ,and we love it!!
I’m from Texas. Thank you for taking me on this journey!
Vegan cake or are you expanding more than one horizon?
What a amazing experience. The people in Finland you have met seem so real and down to earth. Genuinely happy and at peace in the solitude of nature and their lives.
It's really nice of you to visit our country. Thank you!
It amazes me how quickly people comment things such as the ear rings or why do this or why do that. Just shut up and appreciate this woman.
It is people who have little and nothing in their own life, that haven opinion how other people should live and decorate their own life. Feel sorry for them.
Please shut up! 🏴☠️
So true....
I was surprise for me to!
Go Eva free your mind!!!!
we live in a very salty world
Same. I enjoy her videos because they are so well done. She tells stories in a peaceful and engrossing way that always ends too soon. I wouldn't change anything.
you girl.. you and your videos are just gorgeus the very best from stockholm sweden!!
I was very impressed with Janita. She is such a strong and beautiful woman. It's so wonderful that she's created her own business and is doing what she loves with her reindeer ❤
all the streets are cleared of high snow in such a sparsely populated place - respect to the Finnish community.
I enjoy your reports from the North very much!
Eva, You are such a blessing in our lives, with your happiness and constant smiles. Thank you so much .
I loved visiting southern Finland. Looks like a trip to the north is needed
I’m from the Southwest but live in Helsinki now. I can’t imagine actually living anywhere in Finland but the southern coast personally, but Lapland is so beautiful this video reminded me that I want to go there. I haven’t been in 15 years.
So here's a story: if I want to get anonymous, not watched by someone, no social pressure, I go into the city. When it's busy, no-one sees you. At those moments, I don't want to be in a small village where people know each other and such. The smaller the community, the less lonely people are. Thanks for the great video again!
Cope. If you really want to be anonymous, not watched by someone, no social pressure etc. you go into the countryside. Where there is literally no physical way anyone is watching you or judging you because no one exists within eyesight. What you're describing is living in some smaller town with nosy neighbours.
@@poika22 Not sure. In the countryside there *might* always some local watching and caring. In the vibrant city with lots of people I feel much more confident nobody cares a single bit. But that might be personal, I have social anxiety for individuals and groups but not for crowds. It's actually a compliment for the countryside because I think they care much more, I just don't like that :D
@@japsurdejjvvhh7635 When I'm in the sauna at my countryside cabin and notice I need more firewood, I can just walk naked to the shed to get some. No one reacts because there is no one. Even though I normally live in a major city center, I could not just walk naked around the block without people staring. Any lethargy people in big cities feel only goes so far to "hide you in plain sight". And even big cities have nosy neighbors and rules about noise and all sorts of things you're free from out in the country.
What a beautiful place! And the people don't seem lonely at all, they look healthy and happy! I've been dog sledding and would love to try with Reindeer, sledding, Janita what a fantastic business and home you have!
A nice and lovely place LAPLAND. I enjoyed the video. Mother nature has given us bounty to enjoy. Eva, your video is very educative. ❤❤❤❤❤
Such a relaxing episode. I've watched this while relaxing in a hot bath. Bliss.
🏆Eva, there’s a reason you're the top female travel RUclipsr, well many reasons: brave, fun, beautiful, grateful, honest, and curious, with a close connection to nature, a genuine love for people, and years of hard work in mastering the art of visual storytelling. Another Eva Zu Beck masterpiece added to your legacy. 🌿 Btw, your closing statement was perfect!
"Maybe in places with so few people
and so much space, you end up finding something
that's easily lost in the crowded busyness of the city.
Just maybe, with all that space around you,
you actually get to be.”
Yes, least populated places have the happiest people. I always smile when folks talk about how much work it is to be self sustaining, that’s what the human condition was designed around, and the physicality of it keeps you healthy. Great life lessons Eva!
You are my inspiration!
Thank you so much Eva !
Love your work Eva❤😊
what a beautiful place you are in, THANKS for letting us tag along, what a beautiful spirit, and young lady you are, yes get a VAN !!!!
24 minutes of heaven.. Thank you! And what an absolute awesome dog you have.
Well done Eva, you best one yet, love the interactions an a peek into some different ways of existing.
Europe is beautiful, a lot of history, world wars, landscapes, different types of climates.

1:07 Vilk watching the drone is just adorable.
24 and a half minutes of great content, super filming (drone shots sublime) , great interviews and done in the wonderful company of Eva and Vilk. Thanks Eva.
Thank you Eva. Thank you, thank you...thank you!!
I have been watching you off and on for some time and am REALLY enjoying your content. These are amazing, challenging place that you go. Trust your gut and keep living and discovering life.....and taking us along.
Wow who needs the travel channel anymore, your videos are fantastic, Eva! So well done. Thanks for the phone card tip!
I've seen all of your videos, not just this one. And I wanted to say that I'm absolutely amazed by your courage, by your inspiring way of life...and also by the beauty of all those places you show us. An amazing experience for you and an irreplaceable inspiration for all of us. Thank you so much...what else can I say? That's all I feel when I see you in my screen: thankfulness. I feel grateful.
You have trained your dog well ! He is awesome.
I love what she said about work, I've never liked the expression do what you love and you'll never work. Another great video Eva!
Such very nice people... You trying to help with the sled feeding the Elk and then enjoying a luxurious Sauna and Jacuzzi, priceless! Thank you for sharing..
Love all your adventures ! Thank you so much for taking the time to share with all of us. ❤
I have a lot of subscriptions on RUclips, but your videos are the ones I watch every week without fail and look forward to the most.
Cold weather never use to bother me. Now just watching you makes me cold. Hats off to you. Enjoy your videos. ❤❤❤
Looks like peace, serenity, and bliss....beautiful
Enjoyed waking up in beautiful Tlaxcala this morning and drinking coffee while I lived vicariously through you Eva. ❤🥶weather
Couldn’t agree more with what the couple at the end says, find something you love and you’ll never work, it’s not true you’ll work way harder but feel so much more accomplished and happy everyday! We work way more hours since quitting our jobs but we love it! Beautiful video as always ❤
Brilliant as always. Your parting words are so true.
Thanks for putting in all the extra effort and time to edit, film, upload and narrate all of your adventures and thoughts.
Thank you for showing us this beauty, Eva!
Thank you! You make such heartwarming and passionate videos I look forward to each new adventure you experience and share!
Yes! Coldness, silence, being alone. We love it! Welcome to Finland :)
Wow. Thanks for the video, Eva!
Wow thank you so very much. Your travels and videos are amazing and they also inspire
I love watching your adventures. Thank-you for sharing your incredible journeys.
You are so creative and talented. I hope you feel joyful always.
Another wonderful video. Loved the music you chose to highlight that region. Your genuine-ness is so refreshing. No affectation, just pure wonder in each experience. No glamorization, just pure reality with all the good sincere vibes, even through struggles and personal disappointments. I look forward to each episode. You're a very brave girl going it alone like this. Vilk is a terrific companion and he's having a blast as well. Temperatures like that are very dangerous and not to be taken lightly. Every detail has to be put in place with great care and planning. Carry on, dear friend.
That was seriously nice, thx Eva😘😘
Hi Eva, imagining your travels in a van is comforting. The fulfillment in your purpose isn't defined by your means of travel. I'm pretty sure you know this already; Clarity may bring comfort, but if comfort is all you seek, then you will never find clarity. Believing that the modern-day conveniences of Van Life is more or less deserving to YOUR purpose isn't something to fret about. Oprah said, "Become what you believe." If you want a van, I say, find the perfect van for your travels. You deserve it! If you want a horse and chariot, you deserve that, too. Embracing desired changes or choosing to live a life with multiple identities is A-Okay!
When you can feel the cold with full clothes and jacket on, but you did go outside with just a one-piece and even play with the snow. Such a nice adventure. Looking forward to seeing more of your videos soon.
Thank you Eva for bearing the cold and giving us a glimpse of this beauty.
Absolutely Amazing Winter Adventure I love it, Enjoy and Be safe🙏🫡
I do love all your videos in Scandinavia. And this one has something more special. I had the feeling to be there. Thank You a lot . 🌹🌹
Went skiing, husky & reindeer sledding in Levi 14 years ago, fabulous place, thanks for the memories!!
That was so beautiful. Thank you for sharing your journey.
I know this Levi region quite well, thanks Eva for this video and visiting also Finnish Lapland.
Interviews are an A plus. Mil gracias.
Thank you Eva for sharing this special video. I have been following your channel for a while now and this one is of my favourite. Keep up your amazing journey. May God gives you many more blessings as you touch many people lives.
I love solitude. Without people around who don't share your passion, I think life can get so full of anxiety. Love you taking the time to enjoy this part of our world. I'm enjoying your videos more and more kiddo. Enjoy watching Vilk's interaction with those around you. The big baby. Thank you for sharing Eva. You make our hearts sore.
COLD AND DISTANCED, ALL YOU NEED IS OLAF⛄️. WELL HAVE A GOOD WEEK.
100 percent positive energy video! Absolutely love this one.❤
Awesome video as always Eva and Vilk. Sometimes the most remote places are where you find your most happiness time in life because the stress just melts away even in the most coldest places. Thanks for letting us ride along with y’all on y’all’s adventures.
Wow! Another Beautiful work of Art! Thank you Eva!
Looks so peaceful
My first two Shepherds Spike an Scooter, loved those bones also, by the time they turned 10, their scissor teeth were gone an half their canines
There is such a joy, peace & beauty comes across in your videos ❤ Thank you for sharing this.
Love the drone footage. Soothes the spirit. ❤
Eva~ you look so happy & at peace.
When you got Vilk you questioned what you had done.
I can't imagine Vilk not being in your life. Unconditional love.
I LOVE your life. Your travels inspire me so much.
I find myself saying, oh that was my favorite video. Then the next one comes along, and that one is my favorite video. They keep coming. You & Vilk are a treasure for us arm chair (comparatively!) traveling lovers of the world. Thanks for taking us along!
I thoroughly enjoyed this video Eva. Thank you.

It takes a lot of courage to do what you are doing Eva... you are so great..Bravo❤🎉
❤great video eva. Thank you
Fun, thanks for sharing😊
This is a beautiful land. Thanks for sharing it with us Eva.
Eva, thank you so much for another wonderful episode. I look forward to your posts so much.
It does not surprise me that people are happier and have a stronger sense of community there. I recently visited New Zealand, which is also not that densely populated, unlike Europe and other areas of the world, and I was struck with how nice random strangers were and how safe it felt. Overpopulation is a serious problem and definitely decreases quality of life, since people become hyper-competitive for resources and, therefore, narcissistic.
great episode, one of my favorites
So so good!!! Love seeing everything you share
This video showed up in my feed and it was a must watch for me ! Your videos are always worth seeing !
My ancestors came from Sweden, and I've never been there, so I've enjoyed watching your trip to Scandinavia. Thank you for sharing.
She wasnt in Scandinavia. Finland isnt a scandinavian country
@minnaorv she was also in Sweden and Norway on her trip, if you remember
yes,lot of van ladies are around. Therefore don`t do it . That is what makes you and your experiences special
Copycats. Eva has quality content with a genuine feel of someone hiking/skiing/adventureing. I'm not saying you aren't making a good point but this chick would be riding a pack llama with a windshield around the world if that's all there was to get to the choice spots.
Again, thanks for taking us along! ❤
There you go Eva…I have been waiting for your content…it is always interesting!
Awesome. I am 62 years old, and it is difficult to bear the chill of Finland. Here in Pakistan, 300 people per square kilometer.
