I’m usually not fan of Chinese brand names but Seestar fits and looks so well on a diver. The only thing I would critique is the bracelet, it’s just too thick at the clasp area. If it would only taper down from 20mm to 16mm.
Hi @adamw7411 - you are right, certain Chinese brands are investing heavily where it counts. Apparently Seestern is ‘Starfish’ in German - which makes sense! If 2mm on the bracelet at the clasp is your greatest concern, then I’d say they’ve done really well
@@watchmebuildit I have a small wrist and those 2mm on bracelet does have a big difference. Also it would look modern that way.
The San Martin 62 mas is one of my favourite watches regardless of where it is from. I love it. I also have the mechanical chronograph and again it's one of my favourites. In total I think I have eight more San Martin watches.
@MrPinkfloyd I agree. San Martin have successfully showed the Swiss Watch industry up for what it is: a game of smoke and mirrors.

FINALLY a review with the female end links, I’ve been looking for a review of the updated version of the watch.
I have confirmed with Seestern that all v.3’s have the female links (some footage still shows the male links). They make ALL the difference
Good on Seestern for listening & putting on a female end link 👍To make this a perfect watch for me would be to have a bracelet hat tapers from 20-16mm

I have one of these - one with a red dial and red rubber strap. It's diminutive - of course - and feels solidly built. The bezel clicks distinctly and precisely.

I have version one and love it they didn't have a steel bracelet option back then but I think that I prefer the tropic strap I've also been on the hunt for a beads of rice bracelet to no avail fitment problems seem to be the norm Thanks for sharing as always my friend Be well 👍

Great review. One downside for me is that the hour hand is either not fat enough or not quite short enough to avoid confusion with the minute hand when it lines up with an index, and so legibility sufferes. Also, the crown is noticably wobbly. Definitely worth the money, and kick-ass lume, though.
Hi Greg. Valid observations. With the MAS being Seiko’s first diver, this design weakness was unforeseen and then corrected in subsequent models. I can’t say I experienced the crown on this unit to be wobbly though. The lume is amazing

Sugess is the parent company. It's beautiful, just like my Sub 300T & 600Ts. However, my Tactical Frog 62MAS is a better execution, in terms of dial, bracelet and finishing.

I always liked the design of the 62mas but when I tried 1 on it looked too big,so I resisted.Now they have this 38mm version I’m tempted.I see on your SS it has female end links but when I look on Ali express all the pictures show the older male end link.Too make sure I get the bracelet with the female end links I’ll wait for SS to update the pictures

I think that they or parent company are one of the Chinese companies making cases for the Swiss brands....I'm convinced of it and I know Tissot uses someone in Hong Kong as the inside back of my powermatic 80 says Hong Kong

I have this 37mm seestern and also a Seiko SLA043 and a Prospec SPB297. The Seestern is an excellent homeage! I love this watch and its under $200.
That is an excellent perspective to have. I haven’t had the privilege of handling the ‘real McCoy’. I wonder - if it was a ‘blind’ test, if you had them side-by-side with no logo, would you say there is a noticeable difference?
@@watchmebuildit yes, bezel action, case finishing, weight of the watch, sound of the rotor. Dial texture/coloring…really depends on how deep you are into this hobby. Also its all about the movement if you are deep into the game.

Were you at National Stud & Gardens?
I have version 1 on rubber strap. Modded it to GMT with NH34 but at the end not wearing it at all, crown dig into my hand too much.
You didnt show modding or how it looked after.
Hi Tom. I was at the National Stud - we have a membership there, so you will see some more footage to come. I haven’t done the mod yet. I’m glad to hear you did a GMT mod because that’s the plan with this one. Still waiting for a custom made dial and bezel insert to arrive.

I've used dial from Ali and widen centre hole to fit GMT pinion. Bezel from ali as well which was hard to find due to smaller size of it. At the end I reverted back to standard and have black bezel left.
What kind of mods do you do on the Seestern 62mas?
The mod I’m doing for my client involves a custom printed dial and a custom made bezel insert plus an NH34 GMT movement . Since this is an NH35 based watch with a 28.5mm dial, you could do quite a bit. The bezel insert is tricky though since it’s a unique size

I saw on seestern website that they have the version 4 of this watch, so what will happen to the version 3 on aliexpress? Will it be replaced any soon and will the price increase? I really wanted to get a hand on this watch, but I got a wrist size of 6 inches so the watch size concern me a little bit.

excellent review, but im weary of buying "Choice" items on aliexpress, i say this because i have read on more than on site that the choice items are B stock or returns, hence the great prices.
that having been said, i do NOT believe everything that i read online, could you please give me your take on this allegation?
I would hate to buy this great piece, only to have to jump through hoops should i need to return it (we all know that getting full refunds etc from Aliexpress is a pain in the a** at the best of times...
Hi Kkorkyatt. I can neither confirm nor deny allegations of this nature. I find the idea a little fanciful though - to suggest that they enough inventory of returned items to service such demand requires a little too much imagination. I would suggest clicking on the link and then navigating to the seestern store homepage and selecting an item that is not ‘choice’ and buying that instead. There are site wide specials
