I think it's really interesting the way that some people are obsessed with race & gender - and preserving the dominant hierarchy by any means necessary - all while saying that they despise discussing race and gender
They love thinking about it, and discussing it in their own abstracted ways, it allows them plausible deniability even to their own denial. They dislike being forced to confront it head on in no uncertain terms. Engaging with _that_ means they can’t think of themselves as “just a concerned citizen” or “cares about how our taxes are spent” or “neighbourhood crime” or whatever other buzzwords they have.
