For anyone trying to do this for fortnite, sadly cpu affinity and priority can't be changed in project lasso (for most) because of EAC (aka Easy Anti-Cheat). You have two options, disable hyperthreading in the bios, or use the "cpu sets" feature of project lasso which instead of enforcing the behavior strongly suggests the program to use the specified cores. Only problem is... it's behind a pay wall for project lasso. It does improve frame drops noticably though (especially oddly when in windowed fullscreen on my pc). Hope this helps
Great video on a very hot topic lately. This all depends on the game. A game can be very cpu hungry even with SMT, and a game can be very cpu hungry on a per core level, just like Tarkov is with Unity. However, you are unfortunatly benchmarking Tarkov where one of very few places that is GPU hungry, namely Factory or Labs. Instead, run Lighthouse in an online match, and preferably below 1440p. This is the true cpu core performance test.
Turning off Hyperthreading in BIOS is not a good call. You will have performance gains in games but you're losing performance in everything else you do on your PC. Best way to do this is with Process Lasso and Disabling SMT per program in the CPU Affinity settings.
@@Panjno while that's a fair point, where is your evidence that this improves gaming performance across the board? At least with process lasso you are only disabling SMT at an application level instead of OS level.
Doing this the task manager example was bad. Frames went from 165-175 stable to 80-160 all over the place. Did not work for me . Tested In speedball custom game MW 19
Worked like a charm. I also put my Nvidia scaling to Balanced. I tried Performance, but the colors were too light. So I took about a 10 FPS hit moving it from performance to balanced. I'll take that any day of the week. I'm averaging 148 FPS
SMT is good in some games like Red Dead Redemption 2 because the game needs a minimum of 8 or more threads. I've experienced bad stuttering with my ryzen 5 with 6 cores and 6 threads, and after enabling SMT the stuttering disappeared. SMT is the great thing on CPUs with less then 8 cores and 8 threads, in some games you will have 2 to 10% lower FPS but a good and stable experience, so is up to you if you want to sacrifice it or not.
4c 8t is fine if you can optimize windows and willing to close apps before playing games, otherwise just simply more cores the benefits are way higher than the cost of upgrading

best way to do this is just go to system config in windows ~ Boot tab ~ advanced options ~ number of processors checked and disable 2 cores x 2 threads.
this doesn't work, because if you disable the cores this way, then for example if you have a quad-core Intel with HT (so 4x2 = 8 logical cores), and you give 4 for number of processors, then you'll be left with 2 real cores and 2 HT cores. For every real core the system has, Windows will iterate through the HT cores first before going iterating to the next real core - this is why when you're turning off HT from Task Manager, you need to disable **every other CPU core**, because you are essentially disabling just the HT cores for an application.

@@y0daaa yes, when you disable e cores you can run the cache much faster. The 12900k can do like 4.9ghz ring clock. Improves memory latency, which helps gaming performance. So for the 12700-13900k, it’s best to run them as 8 cores 8 threads lmao. Depends on the game whether you want to enable hyper threading though. But you always wanna disable the e cores for gaming. Think of it like a super charged 9700k.. intel marketed that chip as the gamers chip. It didnt have HT.
@@y0daaa it should be called something like "ring ratio" or "uncore ratio." It depends on your model of motherboard. I would set it a little lower than your cpu ratio. So if you're cpu is running at 5.0ghz all core, I would set the ring to about 47-48. More vcore voltage and lower temps will allow the ring to clock higher. If your PC just randomly freezes with no blue screen, or your 1% lows in games are super low.. then you have to back off the ring ratio a bit because that means it's unstable. I think most 12900k can do 48 on the ring.
@@ilovehotdogs125790 yea I have an asus z690 formula but I’ll look for something that says that. Could it be that all my parts aren’t getting the efficient power they need ?
The Ryzen 7700 is an 8 core CPU so, yes you should disable SMT for gaming ... Also increase tdp to 125W and set a Curve Optimiser -ve offset (CO -30 is usually fine) SMT disabled will improve average FPS a little in some games, and will typically improve the 1% lows even more in those same games... Other games won't see any difference, and there's even a couple that would perform better with SMT enabled (RDR2 for example, I think, scales with more than 8 available logical cores... As a side note, CP2077 with the latest update says it's using all 16 cores with SMT enabled, but it doesn't actually get any more FPS than with just 8 cores)... For what it's worth, the overall gains from SMT disabled are better than any gains from SMT enabled. Contrary to popular beliefs, SMT disabled is also generally snappier within windows in general toi, because latency is reduced... It's also worth noting that Windows is a bit crap (cos its windows) and you get the best gains from disabling SMT and then doing a fresh install of windows... If you enable SMT, Windows installs/makes changes to it's scheduler that slightly increase latency. When you then disable SMT afterwards, those scheduler changes are not removed/uninstalled/disabled from Windows and it continues to have that performance hit.
Now i gotta turn my cpu fans up to get the hot air out so my gpu doesnt overheat lol but with the i5 12th and 67xt i do notice a lower latency. Thank you lots P you have single handed me optimized my pc for an enjoyable experience on the poop game warzone lol youre much appreciated

I’ve been having a problem with my new rx 6700xt the clock speed like to drop to 200mhz to 700mhz while playing some games. I do have a old motherboard to so that might be the problem
Man my left anaolg is doing the same thig the right anaolg is doing ateam is garbage
panjno i disabled hyperthreading on my laptop and i reacived a really good boost in fps but my game had a wierd delay while moving around when i left the W key my character still be moving and my mouse was not moving properly so should i use process lasso
Consider disabling e-cores on 12th gen for more overclocking room and specially ring/cache overclocking if you are using your pc strictly for gaming.
Ring/Cache overclocking??
@@y0daaa yes, when you disable e cores you can run the cache much faster. The 12900k can do like 4.9ghz ring clock. Improves memory latency, which helps gaming performance. So for the 12700-13900k, it’s best to run them as 8 cores 8 threads lmao. Depends on the game whether you want to enable hyper threading though. But you always wanna disable the e cores for gaming. Think of it like a super charged 9700k.. intel marketed that chip as the gamers chip. It didnt have HT.
@@ilovehotdogs125790 so I turn off e cores in bios then how do I overclock the cache?
Also I’m not sure if you would know but I feel like I don’t get the performance with the specs I have, like I have an Asus rtx 3090 strix + the i9-12900k and etc.. and it’s all running on an asus 850w power supply. Could it be that all my parts aren’t getting the efficient power they need ?
the disable smt/hyperthreading option on process lasso is greyed out and i cant click it how do i fix that?
Does this have a negative impact on streaming???
my cores and Lp doesnt match to see if its turn off. still says 8 / 16
arrow once. then you get the soft from the video
Turning off hyperthreading makes the game feel less smooth.
Can't find hyperthreading in my bios my pc is cyberpowerpc I have i7 9700F
My thing says HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI i dont see tweaker where do i go?
Try Kaldaien's Special K mod gives me 300 more fps for Cyberpunk 2077.
Should I undervolt, lower cores, turn off hyperthreading to my ryzen 7700?😢
The Ryzen 7700 is an 8 core CPU so, yes you should disable SMT for gaming ...
Also increase tdp to 125W and set a Curve Optimiser -ve offset (CO -30 is usually fine)
SMT disabled will improve average FPS a little in some games, and will typically improve the 1% lows even more in those same games...
Hey is Mem Reduct a good program to run? An if so can I run it with Process Lasso and Intelligent Standby List Cleaner enabled
i have a i5 11400 cpu with 6 cores so i should keep my Hyper threading turned on i take it?
Is there any way to do it in bios with a prebuilt pc motherboard? There is an advanced tab but there is i can’t do anything there, my pc is from acer
QUESTION PANJNO do i have to turn off multithread rendering ingame also to get this to work???
Hello, should I turn off Intel virtualization and Vt-d as well in the BIOS? Will it affect gaming performance?
Yes turn it off as it is not used in gaming or any other usual tasks
Now i gotta turn my cpu fans up to get the hot air out so my gpu doesnt overheat lol but with the i5 12th and 67xt i do notice a lower latency. Thank you lots P you have single handed me optimized my pc for an enjoyable experience on the poop game warzone lol youre much appreciated
I have an hp laptop with ryzen 5 3500u and i cant find this setting in my hp bios anyone help?
Sorry i really need ask someone. If i have laptop with 4 cores and 8 logocal processors i will get fps boost if i off Hyper Threading?
