I chased a No Brake Lights and an illuminated Stability Control light problem through this whole system of fuses, switches, relays and wiring. After checking the components from the Fuse to the Hill Assist relay I determined the Hill assist relay was not allowing the signal/power to go to the brake lights. I replaced the Hill Assist Relay in the fuse box under the hood and The brake lights work and the Stability Control Light has gone out. Thank you for such an in depth look at the brake light system. Without knowing the brake light relay output went to the hill assist relay before going to the brake lights i may have had to take this car to an electrical shop to have them find the problem. Mike @ Phelps Body Shop of New Albany.
The relay not fuse is abbreviated HAC. I had the same issue with the traction control light on and no brake lights. I took out the HAC relay. I flicked it with my fingers a couple times, put it back in and the traction control light went out and I had brake lights again! Thanks Michael Phelps and Maic!!
@@massimodalessandro9259 both of you are blessings. I have a 2012 Optima SX-T GDI and for the past several months I’ve been chasing the issue with this stability light and how it would cause my brake lights not to work. Located the HAC relay, took it out flicked it, made sure it was clean, put it back in, and I swear it was like magic. Brake lights work and stability control light GONE. I have you two in this comment section and Maic to thank. Thank you
Maic thanks for sharing. This was a good one. Maybe message me if the new assembly fixed the problem. Definitely a strange one. I’m sure the assembly wasn’t cheap. Pico seems a little more technician friendly. Stay safe and well Maic Artie 👍
Very informational video. Kia is a good priced vehicle but junk wiring. Which Autel model did you use for this video? I have been looking into them but don't know which model is capable of doing all of this type of diagnosing.
I think this is better, it has a lot of software test that otherwise you 'll need to try and do with math channels. Pico is a much better scope as far as resolution and buffer, but for the daily test I do, cam - crank correlation, coil tests and so, ATS is a much faster set up.
I have C2130 DTC - drive cycle check incomplete/pending. Brake lights work when pressing pedal and also when unlocking the car using FOB What could be the issue ? 2013 Kiia optima manual LX

Question? I have a 2011 Sorento brake light are dim and when I turn headlights on I have zero brake lights and it kills the throttle. I can let off throttle then back into throttle and it does fine only no brake lights!! Any suggestions?
Awesome video. I’m sure you know but i can’t help myself. You can just hit the invert button on the left of the screen instead of turning the amp clamp each time. Sorry lol
In the video description could you say @michaelphelps5064 has a comment with the solution otherwise people may watch to video and not check the comments, not knowing the answer is right here. Great video btw

Interesting case study Maic! Love the follow through of trying to pin point the issue! Thanks for sharing! & Congratulations on getting the Escope!!!
I wonder how that would look on a thermal image camera. Great diagnosis!

Moving the ampclamp to the taillamp would prove it right away.
Good find.
Maic, AWESOME diagnoses thanks for sharing and is that scope easy to learn or PICO is better.

Sometimes it doesn't make sense that there's a problem in such a small harness but i've seen it many times mostly on chevy, n dodge.
