  • Today we have a slightly exotic video about the Sicilian Railway. We show a journey from the in Greec times really important city of Syracuse to the Baroque city of Noto in the southeast of Sicilia. Besides a trip to a far away place it was at least a bit a time travel to times long past. The used ALn668 Railcars of the Italian Railway FS (Ferrovie dello Stato) were built from the 1950s until the early 1980s. The journey took place in a railcar of the third and last genration and the series 1000. So it is a rather "modern" railcar. But "modern" means here, that it was built between 1976 and 1979. In Noto was a train crossing with a railcar of the series 3000. Syracuse-Noto is a part of the 151 km long railway line Canicatti-Siracusa. It should be noted that the timetable in the city of Syracuse (120.000 inhabitants) is really thinned, so that even in the little twon Thür (Germany; 1.500 inhabitants) nearly twice as much trains depart.
We hope, you enjoyed the video and are glad about every ratification, comment and of course subscription!
One remark to the video: Siracuse is of course in the east of Sicily, not in the West!
