Im so delighted you enjoyed your trip to our little island, and also you got incredible weather, it's makes my day when I see people like yourself enjoy what golf we have to offer. Thanks for taking the time to make a brilliant video, and let other golfers from around the world see what we have to offer. 🇮🇪🇺🇸
I'm afraid you missed one of the most spectacular golf courses I have ever played: Old Head! It's set on a peninsula on the Atlantic with cliffs dropping into the sea on all sides. A beautiful course and a real test of golf.
Just watched the video, brought back memories, glad u had a great time, some location for golf. The North & North West are equally as 👍 hope u come back next year, love your content. Regards Mark (Ireland)
That was one amazing trip ...Really enjoyed the video so well dome..Look forward to your comming episodes of your trip..Definately a trip of a life time to cherish !!!...
Incredible! Your so right about pointing your camera anywhere and having a great shot. Ireland looks amazing. I would love to have a chance to play any of those beautiful courses some day. Seems like a shot of Irish whiskey off the 1st tee is a must. Well done on this video Gabe and looks like you had an absolute blast out there. Looking forward to seeing more vids from these courses.
Great video showcasing the amazing courses we have here in Ireland. I played Tralee myself last year and personally think its the best course on the planet. Delighted you enjoyed it so much and thankfully you got decent weather. September is a great month for weather usually. Hope the next trip goes just as well. If you ever fancy easy cost golf in Ireland let me know, we have some super courses here too :)
I’m not jealous…. Man, what a trip. Spectacular views and courses. Having perfect weather in Ireland for a week is a big cherry on a cake. As a European, we tend to travel to Spain for golf holiday, but this video makes me rethink next destination.
Add those beautiful courses on my bucketlist, Always wanted to play in Ireland and now more than ever, so happy you were able to have this great experience, love the content and your channel
My retirement goal. That and seeing the 'Ancestral town named after my family.' This is a great concept for a 'Viewer getaway' type of event where a bunch of your viewers could have a week or ten day getaway where a lot of us could go together, bond and have a great time losing golf balls all over the Emerald Isle. Hopefully you will continue to have this kind of thing in the future because I would be very interested. I am burning too much vacation time on other things next year but would love to try something like this maybe in 2024. If you do Ireland again and I get enough lead time to get the time off I will be excited to do this maybe in 2024. It looks like an awesome trip. I might be bugging you in the future about ideas of where to go when I do my retirement tour of Ireland. That and Scotland are on my short list of places to go.
Hi Thomas we have next year’s trip planned. This was the scouting mission. There’s a link to learn more and register your interest in the description. We’d love to have you along for the next journey.
Lucky to live in this region of the Emerald Isle, get to play theses courses in competition, either in Singles Strokeplay or Inter Club Competitions in Singles and Foursomes matchplay. Agree always bring my heads in hand luggage. Hope your trip was memorable!!
Great so glad you enjoyed it. I have payed Lahinch and Doonbeg. For me the first at Doonbeg is spectacular. Your drive seems to fly for miles into the air and then you just have to wait to see where it might eventually end up. I would love to come along next year but I suspect family commitments will get in the way. As they say in Ireland have a great craic. Adrian
I am currently here in Doonbeg. I’ve been here a week. If you come, do yourself a favor and eat at Tu Rudy’s in Doonbeg town and walk the cliffs of Kilkee. They are way more intimate and inspiring than the Cliffs of Moher.
Fortunately in the sport of Golf, here on the Island of Ireland, we consider Ireland as one as golf comes under the wings of The Golfing Union of Ireland. After you’ve enjoyed those magnificent courses in the SW, on your next trip, try from Galway along the Wild Atlantic Way and continue northwards the whole way as far as Newcastle, where you’ll find Royal County Down ( considered by many to be World No 1) also along that journey you will have passed , Murvagh, Rossnowlagh,Narin/Portnoo, Ballyliffen, Castlerock, Portstewart, Royal Portrush. ( The Open venue for 2025) and many many more. Go raibh maith agat
Plenty of golf courses to choose from north and south some amazing parkland courses as well, adare Manor is a must play what a venue for the Rider cup congrats jp for making it possible, it's out of this world. Mount Juliet in Kilkenny another good test ,deer park in Carlow, bunclody co Wexford , Glen of the downs Co Wicklow, The k club Co Kildare to name but a few and way way cheaper than the courses you played in Co Kerry
I’m pretty much doing the same trip in May. Playing Lahinch both courses, then Doonbeg moving on to Ballybunion both courses, Tralee and finishing with Killarney Golf and Fish. Staying in Lahinch, Tralee and Killarney.
Did Dublin and Northern Ireland before the pandemic. Played Royal County Down, Royal Portrush, Port Stewart, Portmarnock. Ireland is the best. Great channel by the way.
I come the same town as Darren Clarke, so parkland golf. I have a bucket list for Winter Links. Strangley the greens are only now running perfect here in November soil temps are fine no frost. 15c/60F so roll on late Autumn /Winter🤞
@@LetsPlayThru I bet it was...looked AWESOME! I soo wish I could play REAL links style golf in Ireland! Thanks for the video and I look forward to more in this series!
Nice. Yes the guys who organized the tour drove us. But you can book Tours with them where they set it up and you drive yourself. I will say, driving in Ireland is a little harder than most places. Roads are very narrow and then there’s the whole left side of the road thing. You can get used to it, but challenging for sure.
@@LetsPlayThru The first time I drove in Ireland, it was tricky at first, because I was driving a manual and the gearshift was, of course, on my left. Then I almost immediately turned the wrong way into a roundabout! Luckily no one was coming. Gabe's right, though...when you get into the countryside it gets very narrow and twisty, but totally doable. And it's the most gorgeous country. You feel like you're in a movie sometimes, because you can't believe it's real.
My wife’s brother married a girl from Dublin, and we spent 14 days there in 2003. My sister in law’s uncle, Father John, performed the wedding ceremony and was an avid golfer. His home course was Port Marnock and after we had tossed back a few following the wedding, he literally challenged me to come play a round with him. Our family itinerary was already set, and with three young kids it just wasn’t possible…I still hate that I missed that opportunity. I’m going to try to make your trip, Gabe….as soon as the missus wakes up, I’m starting in on her. Great video.
Oh that would’ve been a great place to play, hopefully you’ll get another chance soon. Would love to have you on the trip! I think they have an option for spouses to come along even if they don’t play golf.
There’s one more course I feel it necessary to mention and it’s called Cruit Island in Donegal - pronounced Critch ( it’s an Irish word, hence the pronunciation) A little 9 hole course and you will be astonished- quite possibly the most beautiful views on a course anywhere in Ireland.
Point of information, Ballybunion may be the best course in the Republic of Ireland. But Royal County Down and Royal Portrush are on a different level on the island of Ireland.
You seemed to get on well with the Takomo irons Gabe??? Looked like you played really well. They are seriously tough courses. Look forward to seeing the rounds.
I played well at Lahinch but the other places were either fair or pretty poor to be honest. As you said, some tough tracks. But on a trip like this I try to enjoy the bogeys as much as the birdies. Takomos solid tho 😃
I am really glad you enjoyed the trip Gabe. Definitely very beautiful. Think I would have lost a LOT of balls!! That is some rough 😊. Glad Takomo clubs worked for you.
Ballybunion is ranked No. 1 in many lists but it’s far from clear cut. It has a sort of mythical status in the USA thanks to Tom Watson’s fandom of it but amongst Irish golfers it’s regarded as one of the best but not far and away the best. Lahinch, Waterville Tralee, Ballyliffen, the European Club, Portmarnock, County Sligo, Carne etc. are all regarded on a similar level. And golf is an all ireland sport so Portrush, Royal County Down etc. are all up for consideration as well and are in the same argument as best course in Ireland. Not bashing Ballybunion. Just putting it out there that it’s “amongst the best” rather than clearly “the best”.
Ireland is a beautiful country but unfortunately it needs a roof on it. You have been lucky with the weather. Something to keep an eye on when you visit ireland . The weather can scupper many outdoor activities.
You’re like a kid in a candy store. Our fridge is full of draft Guinness my go to beverage. Take a look at Nefyn and Royal Porthcawl in Wales and of course Scotland has the oldest courses in the world.
The courses in this video are stunning and for someone who both owns a holiday home in Kerry and is a keen golfer, they are a gems. However, due to Americans coming over in the summer and paying stupid amounts of money to play these courses, the average Joe has no chance of justifying the expense of the green fees these places charge. To play these courses (Tralee and Ballybunion) are out of reach for most people except the elite, where money is no object.
Honestly why do Americans come to Ireland and pay big prices for courses that the Irish golfers themselves don't bother with? Avoid the marquee courses and enjoy the gems around the country that don't cost an arm and a leg. Avoid the over priced course you have mentioned in your video. With close to almost 400 courses on the Island of Ireland, catch the gems not the over priced tourist traps.

Some great courses in Marbella for sure, but yeah, Ireland is tough to beat IMO
Living in the Southwest of Ireland we head to either Spain or Portugal to play in the dry😂😂
Irish golfers go to Spain and Portugal for a winter break but ireland gets a lot of French, German etc. visitors over the summer months.

Ballybunnion is totally overrated, mostly by the Americans who pay the crazy fees for all these courses
