I now understand why ME2 has such a deep emotional connection with me. ME1 and ME3 are very good games for sure but just don't evoke that emotional connection like ME2 does. Music for gameplay, cinematics, and even the plain menu all were carefully designed. God I love this game so much...
My list of the best tracks of ME2, i listen them over and over again: 1) Suicide Mission 2) Project Rho theme 3) Overlord theme 4) Shadow broker theme 5) Samara theme 6) Tali theme 7) Infiltration 8) Normandy reborn 9) Humans are disappearing
I'm just a bit disappointed that quite a few more pieces didn't make it to the official release. I'm looking at the Combat themes(Infiltration and The Long Walk) that plays at several missions but particularly the Suicide Mission.
I am a bit on the fence with the score for ME2. There is a LOT of material in it, but to me, those character cues feel kind of like filler music. On the other hand, the Suicide Mission was truly awesome thematically and very memorable. When Jack is talking about it in this clip, he almost looks teary-eyed. He really must have enjoyed writing it.
The cinematic scores are 10/10. But really the rest is just not that memorable as the score in the first game. Especially with the ambient sounds. The hubs and the Normandy are all completely silent and some of the actual ambient scores in sidequests aren't memorable at all. Unlike in the first game where this piece still gives me shivers: ruclips.net/video/Qbhelu0X_Wk/видео.html With the character scores, really only 2 stick out to me as special, and that Samara's and Kasumi's score. The rest is pretty bland.
The four notes from 'Grunts' level reminds me of the Dune theme from way back when.
suicide mission music is probably the best music ever composed to a video game..thx mr Wall :)
a-fucking-greed.
what about mgs 3 theme

Possibly the best score I've ever heard in a game. Even better than ME1 in my opinion.

There were additional releases (Combat & Atmospheric) that contain some of these cues, notably The Long Walk you mentioned.
