Having served in the Military in the U.S., when standing At Ease, Parade Rest or Attention the Trooper learns to "zone out" and remain focused and still. Fortunately, most onlookers respect the Trooper and do not make mockery of time-honored postings.

He spent his entire duty laughing it up with many disgusting tourists, not looking once at anybody who might be carrying; never checked out the horses and soldiers. Just wanted to hang out with civilians. That PD officer, wearing a golden almost buzz cut and wore too-cool glasses? Fire him. He was avoiding his duty, nearly his entire shift.

It's a thoroughfare/shortcut from Whitehall to Horse Guards Road and St James park. A lot of people use it, tourists and locals. There's also a Household Cavalry museum in the building, which is well worth a visit.
Awww that was a big sigh lad. Definite “oh lord is this shift never going to end??!!” vibes there. Trooper Ellis does have a real “presence” and it’s not just cos he’s startlingly good looking. He just exudes calm competence and control…..and god help those who get pinned with the “death stare”(I have to admit, that ability to freeze idiots in their tracks is why he’s my favourite guard lol) The looks are just a bonus…..his lady is a lucky girl.
