    Google and RUclips is your best friend when learning to garden! I’m enjoying this side of you! Have fun! Another tip is to use black sunflower seeds if you can or you can add some , you get more of a variety of birds. Bye the way you are doing a great job! ✌🏻💞😊

    I leave some of the soil on my weeds to help add microbes to the compost bin and you get better material at the end. When I moved to raised beds I removed all the soil to one side and used a mixture of organic materials and mixed the soil in to fill my beds. I stopped using bird feeders because it attracted mice and rats. Nice video Sarah.
    ♻️Happy gardening, Terry King.

    Hey Sarah. Love this channel. Just a few tips for you. Open your mud bags at one end and use to collect rubbish to throw away. Get yourself a bucket to collect your weeds so you do not have to sweep up after. The hinged collars are better up the other way so you can stack them and use for storage of unused pots / bed covers etc. we also stack them for easier gardening to reduce the bending but they take some filling so take your time. Love the fact that you potter from one thing to the other. Good for the soul xx.

    Sarah, your onions look like multiplying onions. Split them apart into singles or doubles and replant them. You will continually have onions if you cut them off about 1/2” above the soil. They will reshoot over and over. You are doing an awesome job!!

    You should make a bottle tree for decoration. You could use an old by bicycle rim twist wires and put bottles on end of wires. Attach it to a post or rod to make it look like tree. Keep up the hard work!

    Any allotment is a great way of learning about growing all sorts of goodies. Weather that be flowers or veg or fruits. Trial and error can be a great adventure, but id recommend Google for great tips. Your beds are coming along great. I also love the pumpkin arch. It will be so lovely to sit at your bench when everything is growing well. Looking through the arch on a warm spring and summer days. Blue skies, birds, and lush green covering your plots. Thats me wishful thinking about the weather.
    Surely we are due some sunshine. We had four seasons in one day on Tuesday. Gale force winds, rain, which turned to giant hail...it was so cold too.
    The day ended with brilliant sunshine. 🤪
    Anyhoo, im loving seeing things coming together so well Sarah. Your doing a great job. 👍 😊

Like you, I’m a beginner but it’s so satisfying when you pick your own veggies or fruit. I’m just about to start planting very shortly as it’s just too hot in our Australian summer to grow much. Autumn and winter are better. Look forward to seeing what you end up filling your garden beds with.

I have learned over the years not to waste my time, energy, or money on foods we won't eat. I also do a lot of companion planting to help keep bad bugs and weeds at bay. Your allotment is shaping up. Do split the onions and replant. You can grow some of them large also if you plant them only half in the dirt. But do keep the dirt pulled back away from them. Do you all have rabbits or deer there? If so, how do you keep them out of your veggie patches?

    I’m confused by the fleece your putting on a freshly weeded garden here we would block out the light to prevent the weeds from sprouting. That fleece looks more like something you place over plants to prevent bugs from eating your plants. Can you tell us what the fleece is?

    • @sarahsallotmentjourney
      @sarahsallotmentjourney  9 месяцев назад

      It’s to warm up the soil so I can directly sow seeds . I heard it somewhere so I went with it lol I do put the weed membrane on autumn to start of spring . But like I say I don’t know what I’m doing lol we have a fine mesh to stop the bugs ,I haven’t used that yet though .
