It's kind of amazing that 2024 has some of the best animated movies of the decade with The Wild Robot, Inside Out 2, Flow, Look Back and more while also having some of the worst with this, the Sandy Cheeks Movie, and Megamind Vs. The Doom Syndicate. Compared to last year where even the weaker movies aren't bad to the extent of these. These really are the unholy trinity of 2024 animation. Maybe Mufasa: The Lion King would make it the four horseman of the apocalypse, but even these are making that look good.
Honestly, the reason why 2024 isn't the best year to be an animated film was because of the writers' strike and executive pushback. Trust me, delaying a movie is better than a rush movie. None of this would've happened if studio management weren't a bunch of jerks
I had the displeasure of waltzing into the Roblox game for this godforsaken movie. I had almost the exact same reaction that Antic had when I saw the "MOVIE TRIALER" part - except Antic repeated MOVIE TRIALER like 20 times. I didn't grab the in-game footage, BUT I did provide the image featuring that ridiculous mistake. And believe me when I say, we were both baffled all to hell and back. EDIT: THE TYPO GOT FIXED. IT'S A MIRACLE. Edit 2: The website for Gracie and Pedro is gone. I cannot make that up.
Hi, Antic! I couldn't help but notice your confusion about the lizard being called a monitor. The lizard is called 'the monitor' because he is, in fact, a monitor lizard, an actual type of lizard of the genus Varanus. The -ine name of a monitor lizard is, as you may have guessed, 'varanine'.
I saw a poster for this movie when seeing wild robot with some family. The only thing thst stood out to my sister and I was the fact that it was a girl dog and a guy cat when in almost all cartoons cats are "girl coded" and dogs are "boy coded". Outside of that, this movie just looks like a weird meme 🤷🏾♂️
Love how you were clearly trying to delay reviewing the actual film by talking about the marketing campaign for the film, as if the film was that spoopy.😂
I know that movie. Its trailer premiered during the premiere day of “The Wild Robot”. And I should know: I was there.👍🏻 Also, I did some research. Apparently, the animation studio behind “Gracie and Pedro” is Polycat Animation… And they’re located in Cape Town, South Africa. How? Even Triggerfish Animation Studios has better character designs and animation movements for their movies, and they’re also located in Cape Town, South Africa. I mean, I’m not saying “Gracie and Pedro” LOOKS bad. No, it looks like it has some good effort put into it. But something about it just feels a bit… Off. Like, compare “Gracie and Pedro” by Polycat Animation to “Seal Team (2021)” by Triggerfish Animation Studios and Netflix, and tell me which one looks better and actually appealing.
Somebody commented on my letterboxd review (didn't watch it) saying a trailer for this played in front of LOOK BACK. Like, what the fuck?? Is that how little America respects animation???
There's plently of americans who love and respect animation here in the usa I'm one of them but there's a lot of disrespect towards the meduim here and this movie is awful just awful and Didn't know this existed till now.

I only saw this trailer when I saw Robot Dreams in July, and I looked to my mom and said that looks atrocious. So yeah, not surprised at all that this turned out shit. There was also a trailer for the Ryan’s World movie. Seriously, why was the theater playing these trailers in front of freaking ROBOT DREAMS??

@@Bitsy69439 Really? I mean, the film is a collaboration between the US, South Africa, and Canada, so maybe I saw it because Robot Dreams is also an internationally produced film.

This video was literally the only thing to inform me that this movie exists seen no trailers or heard anyone talking about this film. The Sandy Cheeks movie is bad but this is a new low for this year. Also 73 dollars for that? That's huge rip off.
It's a foreign movie, it won't even last a few days in theaters if you ask me. Nothing against the film itself, I have zero interest and thought it was just a simple direct dvd movie you would see at Walmart.

The same area as Triggerfish Animation Studios.
This movie looks like it was written and animated by ChatGPT. Even the title sounds like something ChatGPT would write
A warning to never use A.I for making films because this is the result of using it to sololy create a film and it's all the bad parts of better films.
I can't say I'm surprised. The trailers did not inspire confidence.

I honestly thought the film was made at a royalty free effect site
This movie makes Norm of The North look like Soul in comparison.

Looks like I'm going to keep waiting for Moana 2!

How do you make animals look so uncanny? And then cartoony at the same time like they were trying to be like Shrek and Paw patrol?
