Dusty, what keeps me watching and subscribed to your channel is your heart felt care and concern for your animals. It's obvious you'll do anything and everything to care for them and I deeply appreciate that ❤
Oh, that sounds interesting. Was it some of your own? What are the qualities and uses of that yarn? I am playing with spinning after a lifetime of needlework.
Dusty, we have ordered the bison meat twice from you ....i just wanted you to know that this bison meat is absolutely above and beyond any beef product. And we get our beef fresh. Keep up the good work!
Thank you for showing and teaching about the American Bison. Sometime please talk about how the production side differs from the conservation side. Please. You’re a good teacher!
Bison are incredibly resilient animals, hiding their sickness until it’s almost too late! 🦬 Watch until the end to learn what the signs of a sick bison are and how we use a dart gun to keep our herd healthy! Fewer darts & Charcoal Charcoal Charcoal - a natural & a cheaper alternative 👍 Charcoal is a natural De-Wormer. It was available upon occasion to the free bison, after fires. Nothing in nature goes to waste.
Secrets don't surprise me anymore when it comes to you Dusty 😅 You're good at it 😊 Hey Cora, and Morgan 🐴💜 How's Charlie? Haven't seen her in awhile 🤔🐈⬛🥰 Dang parasites!😡 Interesting fact about the Bison, hopefully all is well with all the Bison!🙏🦬💜 Keep Bison Ranchin Dusty! You're a Great Steward! 🙏🦬💜🐴🐈⬛🥰
Thank you Dusty and Cross Timbers Bison for teaching us about the life of a bison. I love the red dogs and I love the meat. I love the respect you have for them. ❤
Dusty love and enjoy your videos. May the lord bless and protect you and your family and the bison and other animals. Dusty making sure his bison stay healthy. Dusty I'm a retired nurse of 44 year
Hi Dusty, Marissa and Brooks. Love watching yall working with the bison. Good shot Thanks for explaining why and what you are doing. Cora is a beautiful buckskin. God bless and love yall ❤❤
Hey Dusty, worked in healthcare for most of my career and a little tip “pull the syringe back some and inject air into the bottle then you can draw out the medication out easier. ❤
While the syringe is in the air, is when you pull back the syringe to 0.5 cc, then insert it into the sterile top of the bottle. Next push the air into the medicine, then pull back the syringe to draw back the medication dose. So, now you have equalized the air pressure inside of the bottle. Retired RN. Great job. Also, once you have the medicine into the syringe, the needle needs to stay clean...so, when you place the loaded syringe down, the needle is not to touch the track bed, or plastic or cardboard. If you lay the syringe down on a flat area, the needle should stay untouched!
We were outside Grand Tetons going to Yellow Stone when we saw buffalos behind a fence & fools setting on the fence & one crawling over. I wonder if people ever learn.
Dusty, have you tried feeding pumpkins? Many ranchers claim it deworms bovines. With pumpkin season upon us, it might be worth feeding. In your climate, they are very willing to grow wild. Chickens also go bonkers for them.
Your bison look great. I've appreciated how you've used that dart system for a couple of years now. Much better way to treat individuals with not stressing them and the whole herd. I do look forward to the fall roundup to see their antics and weights.
Always love watching your good looking bison 🦬 They look so healthy with the exception of when poor Dunbar was sick. But you were on it & fixed him right up. I miss not seeing him like we use to. Also, 2 absolutely beautiful horses 🐎 I miss not having any myself. Use to have 4, as I use to show my Appy. Like you I pretty much broke him myself, they were so much fun. I hope all is well with the family ❤❤❤ So happy that Emily got to go home. I think it will really help her recovery. Thank you for sharing parts of your life with us. I throughly enjoy every video & keeping up with all the animals & the family. Sending my thoughts, my prayers & love to the family. Until next time, please take care, be safe & God bless 🙌 🙏 ❤️ ❤❤
If you want to draw meds out of a vial you should push in 1cc of air into the vial per cc of med you want to draw out. Makes drawing the med out so much easier, you barely have to work at it. I've never given bison a shot but I learned all about IV care and how to do shots when my son was younger.
I’ve always been fond of the buffalo and its history with the early native Indianas . They were life-lines to so many early settlers too, but with no control America almost lost them until the government stepped in to set rules, and people as you, Dusty fell for their continued existence . Thanks so much for you,Melissa, her parents and family for operating this Bison Ranch. You are getting better with using that dart gun now! Parasites and the south’s hot weather hold raising the bison. Interesting that only here that parasites are an issue. 🇺🇸❤️🦬🦬🦬🦬🦬🦬🦬🇺🇸❤️
Learning a lot. Because you’re so humane and describe things in caring details, I feel like I’m a fellow being- a sister- of bison. May sound crazy but that’s what’s happened because of watching your videos.
They should have a reusable dart. You should be able to twist off the top and twist on a new gauge or new needle of any size. Just have to buy refill needle tips
Here in western north carolina we are having a hard time because of hurricane Helena just got my power back after doing without for 6 days this was the first video that popped up I always liked your videos after everything on here 900 unidentified body's in the morgue at missions hospital in Asheville nc it's calming watching your video
Fabulous video Dusty. Great information to know about the Bison 🦬 even if you don’t have a Ranch like me. You are so wonderful and caring toward all your animals on the Ranch 🦬Thank you for sharing love to Marissa and Brooke & everyone that helps out. ❤❤❤
You are so amazing when it comes to Bison’s. These guys are lucky to have you to look after them. They know who to trust. God bless you and your family ❤Praying for EmmaLee Arms❤
Thanks for sharing. While I realize I, myself, will never be a bison rancher, I truly appreciate your sharing of knowledge! Love learning from you all! Stay safe and blessed Baker family! ♥️🙏♥️
Thank you, Dusty, for teaching us about Bison and how you take care of them. It's so obvious how important your bison are to you. I truly enjoyed this video. With prayers, love, and gentle hugs for y'all and your critters too. God bless y'all, Donna Gulyas in Florida. 🥰🙏🙏🙏🌴
Another tip is to place the needle cap (for the drawing up) on a surface and scoop it up. Less likely to get an accidental poke. Whenever I see the bison all scraggly I dream about brushing them. Silly I know. Love when it’s time to remove our horse’s winter coat.
Another great video love it when your teacher mode kicks in l enjoy learning so much about these amazing animals we have a bison 🦬 rancher a few miles from us it's becoming a popular meat for eating love the snack sticks looking forward to next video
Dusty, I know the darts can be hard to find out in the pastures, can you paint the dart canister? Maybe a bright color nail polish or spray paint? Make it easier to find?
So when the bison ranged freely in the plains was the parasite problem handled by the fact that they went north and didn’t stay in areas like S OK or was it less of a problem because there were just less parasites found in the free range prairie?
@@CrossTimbersBison This is what regen grazing aims to mimic: Move more often into more smaller paddocks with longer rest/recovery to minimize need of inputs like wormers.
DUSTY, thanks for sharing the information about the bisons. Question for you, what is the name of the syringes you have to buy for the bisons???. Is their any way to replace the tip of the syringe to help cut down on cost. Great video as always. David B.,Utah. 🐎🐎🐓🐓🐓🐈🐈🐕🐕💞💞❤❤❤.
Dusty, I worked in the medical field and when injecting the needle into the vial of medication pull back on your syringe, before inserting into the vial of medication, then when you push on the syringe it adds air into the vial that auto fills your syringe!
Your horses are so beautiful. We had 3 horses on our farm. One day a circus broke down in front of our house on the highway. The next day we found a shetland pony - obviously from the circus. We had no idea where the circus went. That is how we got our 3rd horse. It was really mean. Only horse that ever threw me into a barred wire fence. I had to get a technus shot! It also would bite. My little sister was a great horseman. She could get one horse to walk on it's back legs and the other one drank from a coke bottle. My Dad named the shetland "Short Legs". He bit Sandi one day and she turned around and bit him back. He never did that again! Now I am going to tell you a wild story. Ready? Sandi passed away and went to heaven. One day I was up in the Courts of Heaven praying - I looked up and there was all my family that passed away. My parents and two of my sisters. Sandi was standing in the back with a Dapple colored horse. She said, "Beckie, do you know Jesus' horses fly? I ruined her thunder and said "Yes". Animals go to heaven! I have seen my two Italian Greyhounds. So people who greive their pets' deaths will see them again - like your baby calves. Angels take care of them. I told you it was wild. i don't expect you will believe me but ask God - He will tell you. Your Mom knows me. Ask her what God told me about her. I am wild and just decided to believe everything God says in His Word. It is actually in the Word. I love your family so much. I will meet you someday. Maybe you know this already but if you don't, I am not offended. God is good!
My OCD wants to brush their coats-and get the tangles out !! probably not a good idea ...........................................their dark coats are beautiful underneath .
How crap! That was the best shot I've ever seen! Through multiple obstacles you still got him! 😮 mental note don't ever trespass on your property 😂😂😂

Dusty, not sure if you know, but buffalo hair makes amazing yarn. I’ve spun up quite a bit in the past.
Oh, that sounds interesting. Was it some of your own? What are the qualities and uses of that yarn?
I am playing with spinning after a lifetime of needlework.
How is it collected? How interesting

Thank you Dusty.....
House cats will do the same thing. Oneday they are fine 2 days later they are dead. I assume the large wild cats do the same.😊
Pet birds hide their sickness 90% of the time until it's too late. I know I've been a bird mom for the past 40 years. Always very tough.
It's not just bison, all animals are like that. They avoid showing weakness and illness because the predators look for the signs of that.
Dogs will hide their illnesses too.
Not losing their hair also happens on regular cattle and horses, indicating usually worms.
Happy to see your horses getting along so well now. Thanks. Learned a few things today.
Fascinating content. Seems like the most humane and stress free way for both the rancher and the animal.

Tip.
Stick a sterile needle in the med vial and it will vent it too.
While the syringe is in the air, is when you pull back the syringe to 0.5 cc, then insert it into the sterile top of the bottle.
Next push the air into the medicine, then pull back the syringe to draw back the medication dose. So, now you have equalized the air pressure inside of the bottle.

How is Dunbar doing? Wish you would do more videos with him. He seems to be forgotten. 😢
Love your Bison
Nice shot, Dusty.
Love how you take care of your Bison

They didn't freak out when buffalo hunters would shoot an entire herd. They would just stand there.
How is it that you know that?
Dusty your doing great there !!! I always let the vets do their thing with what they have to do !!!
Pretty cool video thanks Dusty. Donna Northern Michigan
Thank you for the video Dusty

Good results
Put the amount of the meds in air into vial. Makes drawing up meds easy.
Hope your two bulls get feeling better.
Nice job Dusty.
I love your tube I hope one day to see a real bison
They are astonishingly huge!
Hey Dusty, any word on the hide you guys sent for tanning?
Watching you from Delaware.
Hi, Dusty and fam. Love the vids. Thank you
Dusty, I know the darts can be hard to find out in the pastures, can you paint the dart canister? Maybe a bright color nail polish or spray paint? Make it easier to find?
hey Dusty, whatever happened to the Texas cow that you had to pull the dead calf out of? just curious.
So when the bison ranged freely in the plains was the parasite problem handled by the fact that they went north and didn’t stay in areas like S OK or was it less of a problem because there were just less parasites found in the free range prairie?
There were no parasite issues because they were always moving
@@CrossTimbersBison This is what regen grazing aims to mimic: Move more often into more smaller paddocks with longer rest/recovery to minimize need of inputs like wormers.
That is a really handsome yearling bull 😊
Nice video Dusty
What happened to the hide you had tanned ❤
Love your videos❤
The bison look so much better without the nasty shedding hair. Do they immediately start regrowing the hair as soon as it’s shed?
About October they start getting their winter coats on
The new coat has already come in underneath the winter coat that is being shed off.

This was a very interesting video
Very interesting!!😀😃
What do you call the 200th anniversary of owning a buffalo farm? Bison-tennial
Have you done any testing to see if any residual wormer remains in the meat at processing?
Not yet
