It's no surprise to any KH music fan like myself. I know most of the series' music, both by melody and name. It might be Nomura's idea to name them with Italian words, as other Shimomura's works don't feature them, such as the Mario & Luigi series.
Likely, Roman numeral usage by KH team is tied somehow to connection to Final Fantasy Games tradition of listing FF games via Roman Numerals. IV is Roman Numerals for 4.

Odd thought, but what if Missing Link is being reworked to have a Switch 2 version? The Switch line of consoles are portable so if Switch 2 has some sort of location based functionality, Square putting ML on Switch 2 would fit with their new multiplatform directive and might explain the radio silence.
@ok_listen Oh nice! Then there's an actual possibility of it being not exclusive to mobile! I've kinda been frustrated with the mobile games, and wished some better ones like Dragalia would come to console. Also, Pokemon Go drives me nuts.

I still think KH would have ran just fine on switch with a real port. Not cloud. Heck, 3 might have ran fine too. There have been miracles on the switch before.
I’m pretty sure the real reason they didn’t port these games to the switch natively isn’t that they couldn’t do it, but rather than square wasn’t comfortable heavily downgrading the graphics of 0.2 and 3 for switch in order to be able to do so, that and it being more profitable for them to just port the games to switch 2 in the future for more sales
Even if it official or not, having a pc version of missing link would be cool Idk how a game like missing link can work as a mobile game. Especially since it'll probably be a big game once it officially releases As for the SE presents, my guess is that there could be a very low chance for kh4 to show up, but a decent chance for ML to show up since it was delayed
KH has been very music-coded lately! I think things being in Italian is an ongoing theme that we’ll continue to see. I used to play violin as a kid and I remember being very interested in the “Coda” symbol on the KH3 Remind DLC! For those who don’t know, a Coda is an extra chunk of music at the bottom of a piece that you only play when you get to a specific mark; it’s usually marked as D.S. al Coda, which means “Del Segno al Coda” or “from the Sign to the Coda” So you play the piece to the “end,” but then repeat the ending from a fixed point and go on to play a different ending instead. (Sound familiar, Re:Mind enjoyers?) All of that from a visual clue that I only picked up on from my musical training 😅 before I even played the DLC! After I played it, it made 1000% sense.
I personally find it very hard to believe that Missing Link would get reworked to PC, and even if it did, it would still play like the mobile game with a bunch of on screen buttons and point and click features. FFVII Ever Crisis is on PC as well as mobile though, so it wouldn’t be out of the question, but given that Missing Link is a Niantic style game (like Ingres and Pokémon GO), a PC port would make little sense, unless the entire gameplay loop was redesigned. Not to say it couldn’t happen (I personally hope it will), but it would be a massive undertaking that would effectively render their current development and beta builds useless and they’d have to start over to get it to work like an actual PC game.
I've been wondering if a pc version of Missing Link would be happening due to Square Enix's failing mobile game scene, and them shutting down most of them.
Thank you for over a decade of keeping me in the loop and excited for the next installment of Kingdom Hearts. May your heart be your guiding key and Merry Christmas 😊
I feel like whenever they show KH4 again it’ll be 1-2 months before it releases. I have a feeling Square are slowly starting to understand that we would rather see a trailer for something releasing sooner than later.
With big games like Honkai and Genshin being on pc, I could understand them wanting to have ports on windows which as you said makes sense with their delays. I wonder then if they were always going to and just had trouble with their ports, we can only be patient I suppose not getting my hopes up but appreciate a lil glimmer of info
I genuinely am praying for that Square Enix showcase. They don't have anything really on the roster for 2025, so if we're guessing KH4 in 2026 and FF7R3 2027, they have to have something for next year. Dragon Quest 12 was announced years ago only for radio silence, FF9R was leaked in that big NVIDIA/GeForce leak and is one of the few that hasn't been announced (same for FF Tactics remaster). Since they only advertised the port of FF7R2 and Clive in Tekken at TGA, I have a feeling they're ramping up to reveal a bunch of stuff for the next few years.
My oppinion: In order to have decent releases, it's more likely to have Kingdom Heart IV in 2027 ( or early 28 at the Latest), and have FF VII: RE3 sometime is 2028 in particular (as they will likely STILL be celebrating Final Fantasy's big 40 year anniversary. At least we have that to look forward to in FF news...
Perhaps FF XVII will be announced in the years 2027 as well? A new configurationn of teams for KHV, Final Fantasy 17, FF 18, and looking forward to Dragon Quest XII, which is alluded to be an "Teen' rated title as well!! And the possibility of a new Nier in there! Hot Damn! I think that KH IV was only "teaser" announced as an example of how SE can facilitate Unreal Engine 5 and other engines to create truly lifelike environs... Which is just showing off, of course... And it has been alluded that their will be a return to quick-time events in battle within KH IV. We shall see how people receive that all as well...
Honestly, I find it less likely they'll announce something within the next couple months. (A bit of defeatism or something in my impression there tbh) But beyond that? Sure! Maybe aligning with Nintendo's announcement of Switch 2?
I have a tough time being that a rumored square enix event might be true. There’s been way too many examples of square enix “supposedly hosting an event” that does not become true and so I have very low expectations although I do think square enix will have a presence once the Nintendo Switch 2 gets announce
Square probably knows they have to make it better quality so it won't shut down like the rest. Plus, it's competing with all the existing Chinese games like Genshin, ZZZ, HSR, WuWa, and the upcoming ones next year.
Life, and America, and the world, is a lot about competition, and rumors and drama. Witcher 4 trailer has already been released. Kingdom Hearts 4 is in early production, so will Witcher 4 be done and released before KH 4? Likely, yes, Witcher 4 is likely ahead in this race, if not certainly ahead in this race. I doubt the KH team sees it as a race, but it is worth noting, I say.
So it seems Square be doing stuff, but we shouldn't be getting hopeful about it other than that Square be doing stuff in regards to KH4 and ML. Still, interesting stuff. Mostly Unrelated: As someone who did not get the Switch, I am excited for the upcoming Nintendo console. I just hope it doesn't go scarce like the PS5 and Series X did. I'll be interested to see what Square may have cooked up for the new system.
The only one problem left Sora new kh 4 outfit will definitely replace the kh3 outfit. What ever Sora new outfit is I hope new Sora outfit will probably surpass the kh3 outfit.
Assuming switch 2 is on the level of a steam deck then it would make sense if it’s true maybe ports?… also missing link I expect to release in the summer since it has a gps component the way pokemon go did so it could be a good time to start advertising it or adding more news
If they do end up going the PC route, then hopefully that means Missing Link will get the full Dreamlight Valley treatment. Not sure how that would effect the "GPS Mode is the only place you can collect AP" system, but I'm all for that being removed from the game, as it's an ableist mechanic.
I believe around the time when we knew 3 would end that saga nomura stated that sora will always be the protagonist of kingdom hearts. That may change at some point, I dunno. I also don't see kingdom hearts ending for at least awhile as we are entering a brand new saga.
